Hey yall, it's that time again. Some of us over at SpeedRunsLive are running another mystery tournament that will start in early September. As always, here's a summary for the event:

In a nutshell, players will compete to finish a somewhat short, randomly assigned game/goal in one-on-one matches. They will have virtually no time to practice these games as they will be assigned mere minutes before each race begins. Rather than having the organizers handpick every game themselves, however, every single participant will be contributing to the game pool, offering their own games and goals to the tournament.

This is not a one-day event. We know there's no way to hold a long event in a single day that would cater to every players' schedules, so you will be able to race whenever you and your opponent want to within a 3+ day window each round as long as there is a tournament moderator online to draw your game. Simple as that!

If you would like to find out more about the tournament, be sure to check out our mystery website for all the details: http://mystery.beatthega.me/index.htm

If you have any further questions, would like to discuss anything regarding the tournament, or decide to register, please make sure to join us in #mystery on the SpeedRunsLive irc. Although you can certainly post any concerns you may have in this thread, you will likely receive a quicker response in the channel.

Just to clarify to anyone who may be interested, you do NOT have to be a speedrunner to enter this event -- people of all skill levels are welcome. This event arguably does a better job of determining who the better gamer is than the better speedrunner. If you like casually racing, have been looking for a reason to join your first race on SpeedRunsLive, aim to prove your skills as a gamer, or even just want to attempt to play games quickly with no prior experience, this tournament is perfect for you! Honestly, this is more of a "learn the game's mechanics and get through it efficiently" tournament, similar to the Speed Gaming League's mystery games, than a "speedrun" tournament.

This will be the seventh mystery tournament we've done so far. The previous tournament included 124 entrants, but we're aiming to top it this time. It took a little over one month to conclude, and, as always, people were immediately excited for the next one. If you're interested, be sure to join us in #mystery on the SRL irc and help us shatter our highest entrant count of 151! We hope to see some of you around and good luck to all who enter.
