I just started running X3, however because I'm a broke college kid with my SNES back home.
I'm running it on the Snes9x emulator with a ps3 controller.

Does anyone know how I should run the settings so when I get back it will translate well enough that I won't be completely inept.

X2 and X3 emulation isn't 100% accurate due to the C4 chip in the cartridges. It's close, but there's no way to emulate the lag properly. So you're kinda out of luck.

I dont think any tricks in x3 involve lag, so you should be able to learn everything and should translate to console rather well.

yeah so you can use save states and then when you go on console you have experience

Snes9x 1.51 seems to be most accurate emulator to run X3 and you can even submit your emulator runs to the same leaderboard as the console runs (http://jokaah.com/mmrta/index.php?game=14&category=348).
