Considering the game has changed a bit since the addition of new weaknesses, anything past first 8 robos didn't matter.
However, first 8 robos order went something like this for me:
Fuse -> Crypt -> Sunnyside...yeah, I forgot his name already -> Charade -> Toxic -> Pulse -> Circuit -> Shock
Interesting, any particular reason why you don't go for Pulse first? I think his ability is too good to not get early.
Secondly, do you guys stick with the default settings for running? Because if you do I think the 10/1 version is best, otherwise the latest version is best.
With regards to going with Fuse first, Fuse's ability can one-shot most everything, including most minibosses. Same can be said for Circuit's ability, although Circuit's ability lacks direction. Pulse's ability could be useful in terms of defense and direction, but I haven't found much use for it in terms of taking down enemies fast or in terms of speedrunning. I'll be glad to be proven wrong.

With regards to the settings, that's the part I've hated the most with running this game. The default settings for it make it way too easy, and I dislike them heavily. Idk what the latest version's default settings are, and I'm not sure what you mean by 10/1 version.
the version released on October 1.

Switch photon and crypt, you want an E-tank to refill your health so you have enough to preform all damage boosts.
Oh, got what you mean by version...

With regards to version releases, I generally go with latest version to begin with on speedrunning. Not sure what this has to do with default settings though.
The version released on october 1st (e.g. the one right before the current version) has longer invulnerability after taking damage, you can pretty much get across an entire screen with one damage boost sometimes
You can tweak the setting, and I recommend so.

I noticed you don't set the stages to "Easy" difficulty, any particular reason for that? personally, i think it makes it alot faster
I think that would be in a separate category.
makes sense, alrighty then, once i finish learning the strats for all the levels, i'll start making attempts at this game

(i'm hoping to submit this game for AGDQ 2015, if we're both able to go, we should try to make it a race)

It is a plan, just make it SGDQ 2015 because of school (hope my parents let me go).
i actually can't make anything during the SGDQ months due to personal matters, which is unfortunate

Is PJ
This looks like an interesting game.  It definitely lacks the polish of Mega Man Unlimited or some of the romhacks, but it's interesting.  It looks like the weapons have a lot of utility for speed running, though (tbh, the cloak powerup looks like the best weapon in the game but it never gets used...)

You mentioned in your pb that the run was really optimized though, and I have to disagree.  It wouldn't surprise me at all to see a sub-50 time.  It can probably drop lower than that if someone really cared to push it or if some new speed tricks were found.  I'd really like to see you take some more risks with the levels and keep grinding for a run with a lot fewer errors and less hesitation.

Good luck!

Rock Force is a really good Mega Man fangame. I actually prefer it to Unlimited. Even if Rock Force errs on the side of sometimes being too easy, I rather have that than the opposite, which Unlimited is very guilty of.

Gonna have to try the new version of Rock Force, though. But I'm not really interested in running it.
I played through the latest version, and I rather enjoyed it. I've mentioned it once, but I'll mention it again: I've been adverse to running it due to the ambiguity that the settings present for a basis for running it. The basic settings for the game don't even allow for deaths when you touch spikes, which just go against everything I believe about spike theory and Mega Man (besides Mega Man Network Transmission).

I believe PJ when he says that sub 50 is easily possible, especially after seeing Mega Man Unlimited reaching sub 40 when I thought sub 45 was going to be the limit initially.

Brief overview of the games abilities:
* I've considered going Circuit earlier because of how versatile it is to use and how powerful it is in general.
* Cloak is a lot more of a handicap than you'd initially think in terms of a damaging move, although if you don't mind damage boosting it can be pretty handy.
* Fuse is a powerhouse, although it's terrible for movement because you freeze while you use it (and it used to potentially softlock your game before one of the updates).
* Photon is great to have. High cost to use. I definitely would like to use it more. I try to use it more.
* Shock isn't that great...or I just haven't found that much of a use for it. You can't spam it.
* Pulse is nice for spamming and stuff, and it's nice for blocking pellets sometimes, but it doesn't work 100% of the time for me.....someone else can verify this maybe?
* I should use Virus more...because I don't. I use it on Pulse Man and Fish Dude, and that's about it.
* Is Charade useful in any setting? I've considered not even using it on Virus Man, simply because the cooldown on it just takes way too long. I guess it's good for safety strats.

Anyway...back to schoolwork....
Well, back to grinding.

Regarding the basic settings, I believe they should be allowed to be changed, but only if it allows for a faster run (e.g. I only change the invincibility frames and buster damage, everything else stays the default)

Sub 50 is definitely possibly, once I finish my personal routing, I plan to go full force at this game...no pun intended.

Personally, I go circuit first, just because of how easily spammable it is compared to fuse, with it being almost just as powerful. (iirc, 3 shots kills charade man midboss and 1 shot kills shock man's midboss)
Photon is the only move i try to save for a room that has alot of enemies that will get in the way (e.g. parts of charade man's stage)
Shock is terrible
Pulse doesn't block shots sometimes because it doesn't cover your entire body, some parts of megaman stick out, leaving him slightly exposed to attacks
Virus should definitely be used alot, it's a shield and it's too good
Charade is also terrible

Update: have been getting good results with the initial order being Circuit, Fuse, Photon, Virus, Shock, Crypt, Charade, Pulse. Getting Photon and Fuse before Virus allows for quick clearing of those annoying control-reversing turds. trying to get charade before virus isn't worth it because its cooldown isn't worth the damage output compared to the standard buster, aside from virus and fuse, you'll have all the boss weaknesses in the order you need them

EDIT with a side note: virus man is so infuriating

I found a zip/clip that can potentially save 2-3 seconds in photon man's stage, or if i can get it going in the other direction, roughly 20+ seconds. Video will be following soon. I'll record it as soon as I get the chance
I played around with this a bit today. I made a damage data chart, for anyone interested. It's based on double damage, so if you want to know the damage for normal damage...just cut it in half: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FHH8AXgmMKGRvjrEmZ2wP_us45CCZM31KN9zS6dO1X8/edit?usp=sharing
