My feelings on The Demon Rush

Mike 'MegaDestructor9' Dickson's IL runs
Verifier Responses
Of course, since MD9 never rests improving his MM9 runs, he sent some improved runs.
Decision: Accept
Reason: By the seventh day MegaDestructor9 had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. And MegaDestructor9 blessed the seventh day and made it 8-bit, because on it he rested from all the work of creating his ninth masterpiece, after a 11 year hiatus.
On the eighth day, MegaDestructor9 exclaimed, "My name is MegaDestructor9, Mega of Men;
Look on my works. Ye Mighty, and despair!'" Everything beside remains. Round the decay of MD9's wreck are Tiki and Master_ZED's attempts, boundless and bare.
On the 108th day, I had to pay MD9 270 dollars.![Cry](/file/339U%2B2HZr6m0FrBRe%2B4aULNbr0A)

Not much to say here since almost all of the runs are World Records as of today. Video and audio quality seems fine.
Galaxy Man - WR
Concrete Man - WR You can really tell this stage has gone through the most iterations and optimizations of all ther MM9 stages. Apart from that unfortunate missed edge jump this video feels near perfect.
Hornet Man - WR
Jewel Man - WR
Magma Man - WR
Plug Man - This is not the WR. He has already improved this stage by 00:00:18. Reject this one and wait for the new video to be sent in.
Splash Woman - WR
Tornado Man - I'd be really interested in seeing some new progress on this stage with some of the proposed zips. Until then, this is the WR after all.
Wily1 - WR
Wily2 - WR
Wily3 - WR
Wily4 - WR
To sum it all up, Accept everything except for Plug Man where we should wait for the improved video to be sent in.
Yes I know, we want to get an IL table up as soon as possible. Because it is only 1 video where an improvement already exists I figured it might be worth rejecting it so that we hopefully can have all WRs on the table once it is published.

Concrete Man - Aside from a missed edge jump, the only thing I'm curious about is why he could pause cancel a C. Shot in the room before he makes the jump off Rush Jet through a covered up hole. Was it habit or something? Not that it means anything, I mean, I do this too sometimes out of older habits, but what would cause that habit to develop?
Horny Man - Gotta wonder what the hell MD9 was thinking when he decided to let the ball shooters hit him considering an "edge" jump would have led to greater downward speed. It's not like he was manipulating frames either given he had no idea where the clock flower was going to show up. If I wanted to see some dumb bastard get smacked around at the start of a speed run like an idiot, I'd go download my own run. It's not very significant, but he may as well have had his voice break while singing opera for how the aesthetic quality plunged into the ground at that point.
Splash Woman - Was that last Rush Jet (the one after the spike area) supposed to be boarded? I doubt it cost anything significant, but it's a strange sight all the same.
Wily Castle 2 - Really not sure about taking that drillfish hit in the underwater section before the horrible jump. I still say he should go low to save at least a significant part of a second. The torpedo hit was also sad.
Wily Castle 4 - I was a bit surprised that he didn't go right through the first Met with a BHB and launch the C. Shot on the way down, but it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things (unless there's a frame manipulation trick to be had with Galaxy Man's attack pattern). Other errors include an imperfect Splash Woman fight, missing the 5th T. Blow hit on Magma Man (I want to say he could have gotten it, but I can't prove it, so I'll just boo his lackluster Mazooka attack speed), getting smacked by Tornado Man, and a strange error with the Wily Capsule on the first in-battle Plug Ball assault in which he just stands there after the first hit while Wily's charging his for shot attack. It looks bad, probably cost at least a second, and it's easily the worst error in all of the IL runs. I'm ignoring the Concrete Man battle because that jump couldn't be helped, and I know very well how wretched an experience it can be to manipulate luck on this stage. He got Galaxy Man and the Wily Capsule to be agreeable, and Tornado Man was his usual cooperative self. That's all one can hope for really; the rest is squarely on the player.
All in all, there's no cheating and I accept all of them since he likely sent this in before he improved a couple stages. I don't know how MD9 does it with that stupid XBox controller setup either; just knowing that adds a whole new level of impressive. Still, where's the Special Stage? I fully expected to see it here, as I thought it would be required prior to an IL table being put up.

Concrete: At about 1:10 he jumps too short and hits the corner of the ledge. Loses a little time there. That message popped up, and during that he had a long session of pausing and figuring out what weapon to use. That's minor, and it doesn't affect the game clock any. No other complaints.
Galaxy: There's a lot of opportunities to use Concrete zips that he doesn't take. Understandable, as CS is in high demand here. But a future run should include a few more and manipulate more drops. At 1:21 he should've jumped off RJ to save a little time. 1:47 he undershot another jump. Still acceptable, though.
I don't understand why he called RJ toward the end of Splash, but didn't ride it. Not that it would've made much difference, I don't think. The boss fight there could be slightly faster.
I'm sure getting the free WE refill in Tornado can be bypassed with some luck manipulation.
He got screwed out of a 1:39:xx in Wily 1. That boss does not cooperate. But what he has is still very impressive.
The shark tail might be improvable a little. And I'm unsure about how he handles the midsection.
The boss repeats were a little rough. Concrete didn't cooperate. The HCs didn't follow Splash properly. He didn't get a doublehit on Magma. He got hit by a tornado. And Plug Man jumped one too many times.
I believe it's possible to hit Wily's second form with a CS on the way up and on the way down. He was twitching a little bit during the final fight too. Understandable, but it did cost him about 3 seconds.
Everything else looks flawless. Overall, it's a very impressive table. I'm especially impressed that it's done on a 360. That Back button is a killer.
Accept.
One question, though: Why is the Special Stage not required? (Mike's note: it's DLC)

the audio and video for each level is good and there seems to be no evidence of cheating.
VERDICT: ACCEPT
the runs are awesome and I cannot see why they shouldn't be accepted
i cannot see any way these could be improved except for maybe an extra concrete zip here and there (if you could even do them).![Tongue](/file/OlwTBpYsmFRhyD1NqAH3KgzEulU)

Just finished the MM9 ILs. All are at or close to the world record (and any that aren't the current WR are because he beat them after the fact), and video quality is fine. Pop up message in concrete man was slightly annoying, but that's what it is. Only one that has significant improvement potential is WC4, but there's just so much luck involved that it's fine. Time to pay up Mike ![Smiley](/file/Pz%2Fcj6ngNFMHn%2BnxTNlCutk1Ef8)

The only change in my opinion is that my complaint about the Ball Shooters was resolved in Hornet Man's stage. Some things appeared to go wrong in Plug Man with zipping, but it appeared to be for the best in that particular run since it could have caused a time loss or a dive into the spikes had he been faster in getting to the 1:07 room.

Video and audio quality are just fine.
Gameplay quality: It's MD9.
One of the times doesn't show up as a new record but the reason for that is just that he tied a previous unrecorded run.
This time we should be able to get that table up![Smiley](/file/Pz%2Fcj6ngNFMHn%2BnxTNlCutk1Ef8)

Tornado was very good. Manipulating the WE drop from the shield enemy was very smart. Good use of corner zips as well.
Plug Man was great. Not too much different from last time, just a couple extra zips. He did a nice job using Hornet Chaser to pick up the refill.
I was very impressed with Jewel Man. There were quite a few new zips, and they looked really complex. The runner performed them perfectly, too.
At 0:15 in Hornet Man, he fires a CShot on the ground and jumps into its side. I assume that was done to maniuplate enemy placement. It just looks weird. Everything else here is fine.
Everything's the same quality I've come to expect of this game. All four accepted.

stages update
hornet: stage looks good. too bad he missed that one zip at the beginning but the rest of it, including the boss, was great
jewel: especially enjoyed the zips he created by using extra c shots. pretty thoughtful. the miniboss battle was great too so the c shots could be saved. enjoyed the boss battle. i really like how the runner doesn't just stick with the weakness
plug: i just wonder if you can do anymore zips since you have so many c shots left over. i think i remember the runner stating that the last room with the disappearing blocks is timed so getting there any faster wouldn't be worth it. but anyway, nice run.
tornado: could you not do a couple zips after completing the first rush jet part? besides that i see no problems. again, another nice run.
accept them all. good quality sound, picture and play.

Mike,
Video and stuff looked fine. Good to see improved versions here. Accept.
Downside is that he's improved Magma, so you'll have to send out more verification.
