Was just watching this run Best time: 0:23:58 by Trevor Seguin on 2005-12-20

And noticed quite a bit of slowdowns (this game is hard as hell so It's probably expected though). But anyways I just wanted to note that I think you fall faster between screens if you jump down a hole instead of just falling off or running off the ledge. That would save a few seconds. Also I think its banned to use the pause/multiple hit exploits but on the Rock Monster (who is really hard and takes forever) you can kill him with 1 elec man shot.

So I went to research about it and I saw http://www.twingalaxies.com/index.aspx?c=22&pi=23&gi=2018&vi=9718
100.00 %  22:57.000  Trevor Seguin  08/06/2008 8 2 1377000 0 0 0 0 0 3 Fastest Time 0 0 DVD

Where is this revised run? Wtf!

PS- Don't you guys think that there should be a forum thread linked to each game on the Game List? It's a bitch trying to dig through the forums to find the thread that the runner (or others) made about the record runs for each game. Especially since the search function sucks (sorry, but it does).
Thread title:
I don't even know what the fuck this is

No one knows why Trevor hasn't submitted this to SDA, not even Trevor himself. Yes, jumping down holes is faster. No, the pause trick is not banned here at SDA, but Trevor also submits to TG, where it is banned. :|

This is TAS, right???
No, seriously, this is absolutely unreal. Super creative zips + crazy pause abuse and all that in real time. Runs usually copy whatever they can from TAS-es but this and the Mega Man 2 run add so many different approaches that it's both super hard to play and super entertaining to watch. And that's not even a final run as I'm sure it'll be improved...
Everybody DANCE!
Quote from Practice:

That is a truly remarkable run.  Some of those skips were incredible.  I particularly enjoyed the Bomb Man zip.
Don't think!  feeeeeal
Awesome running, you should do a MM2 hard run.
It's a BIG HEAD!
0.o That wasn't even optimal. Could go to sub 20 mins with that strat.
Skillful as they are, the zip glitches and wraparound glitch are also banned over at TG.
Balls jerky
Good thing we're not TG? Thanks for bumping the thread with that.

Dammit Barnowl wtf! I saw this thread bumped and thought maybe Seth Glass got sub 20. Where the hell is Seth Glass anyways?
Is that what he is shooting for before he submits? It would be nice to see an update to this run on the site, so I hope he gets it.  Not that the 23:58 is bad, it's just a bit old.
sinister1, I'm sure we'll see sub 20 from someone one of these days. It seems like there are a lot more people actually playing this than previously.

I've been playing it quite a bit, I'm just not very good at it, especially not at doing most of the zips.  I think my best time ever was like 25:30 without glitches

You should get sub 20 andrewg!
Err, yeah. I doubt anyone other than Seth himself will be capable of pulling off a sub 20 for quite some time. Running this game on a high level is very irritating because of the preciseness the Wily2 roboskip requires...

Don't ever doubt andrewg...

So I'm currently working on beating Trevors run and I have a question about something.
Trevor changes weapons in mid-air while falling (end of bombmans stage, wily 2 etc.) which boosts mega mans downward momentum to max speed.
Is this "glitch" allowed in a glitchless run?

On that note what defines glitchless?
There are some things that are right on the edge like pulling up the weapon screen in the yellow devil fight to shoot 2 elecbeams at yellow devil (which is also possible without the start screen) and the mentioned downward momentum trick.
Afaik those are the only 2 that could theoretically be allowed in a glitchless run.
Would be nice to have an official guideline before I start doing attempts for this so start discussing :).

Weapon cancelling has been a mainstay, and is encouraged to use whenever it can speed you up. Satoryu mentions it in segment 12 of his All Stages X6 run, so yeah, go for it.

The rest I'm not sure on.
Segment 11, not segment 12. My bad.

Awesome!! This game needs more love and I would love to see an improvement, good luck Exo.

Personally, if I was to declare what was a glitch for the purpose of "glitchless" runs, here's what I'd include:

1. Screen Wrapping
2. Pause Trick
3. Zipping
4. End Goal Glitch (see the TAS)

I wouldn't consider the "unpause to change momentum" a glitch though.  My opinion though.

If the separate categories were set up like MM2 it would be zips and no zips. However, MM2 does not have the screen wrap, pause trick (or does it?), and the end goal glitch (which is probably a TAS only strat). Screen wrapping doesn't seem as severe as zips but I could be wrong. Good luck Exo.

Yeh the thing is that glitchless in mm1 makes a world of difference compared to only zipless.
Sir VG's definition of glitchless is what I'm leaning towards as well as of right now but keep the suggestions coming Smiley

P.S.: Thanks sinister and skullboy ^^
The thing is, Trevor did that run for Twin Galaxies, not specifically for SDA, so he was playing under a different rules perspective. I would really only consider pause glitch and zip glitches to be disallowed in a "no-glitch" run, as the ladder wraps don't seem like much of a glitch to me. Just my opinion though.  I just don't think you should go by TG rules just because you are trying to beat a TG run.

Sorry, but I disagree.  You're bending the laws of time and space by reaching off the top to grab something on the bottom.  To me, that's a glitch and for a glitchless run should be prohibited.
