Janis 'Pendrokar' Lukss's high difficulty run
There was a third verifier, but I can't find his response (or if he even sent one in the first place).
Decison: Accept
Reason: Everyone who watched this run loved it.

[01:45] verifier: verified mechwarrior 3, really good run i think
[01:45] verifier: guy plays on hard difficulty
[01:45] verifier: this game is hard to judge a run since planning is really important and it's hard to know if everything is optimal without actually running it yourself
[01:45] verifier: but as far as i can tell, everything looks solid
[01:45] mikwuyma: okay
[01:45] verifier: he made his setups ahead of time, i'm sure that's ok though
[01:45] mikwuyma: yeah he did
[01:46] mikwuyma: and yeah I said it was okay
[01:46] verifier: some of the missions were impressive, o2m3 is an example
[01:46] verifier: last thing, i want to say i have lots of respect for this guy for running this game because the ai just sucks so bad
[01:46] mikwuyma: how so?
[01:46] verifier: it was famously bad
[01:46] verifier: like teammates just running into walls nonstop
[01:46] verifier: and not shooting
[01:46] mikwuyma: oh partner ai

A long time ago I tried to run this game on Easy, but never felt my times were good enough for SDA submission even way back in the old days. So when Pendrokar, our runner here, expressed interest in running the game on Hard, I said what amounts to, "Here's my old times, crush them or your run will be rejected."
The topic for the game suggests he heard that ultimatum loud and clear, but I didn't watch his YouTube-version videos because I wanted things to be a surprise.
Anyway, here's what I have to say:
First, I believe his use of preset configurations should be allowed under SDA rules. It's not too far separated from how configurations are shown in the MechWarrior 4 run, if I'm not mistaken. He also shows salvage he picks up as well. Basically, continuity isn't much of an issue as far as I can tell.
Op 1 Mission 1:
My old time: 1:52
His time: 1:50
Comments: I suspect using the Machine Gun to shoot your way through the fishing village at the start might be a bit faster than going around. He saves time by not bothering to shoot anything but what's required.
Op 1 Mission 2:
My old time: 2:35
His time: 2:13
Comments: The MFBs carry a lot of AC10 ammo, and I believe the third LRM5 was salvaged from the communications facility on the previous map. (A few objectives automatically give you salvage that isn't tallied on the mission result screen, but is there in future missions.) Anyway, missiles stay locked on for a little time if you move the crosshairs away, which allows for the runner's "mortar missile" technique. I'll have to check and see how he fires his autocannon without switching to it, but I believe it results from trying to alpha-strike (shoot all weapons at once) when only a few weapons are ready to fire. Love how dangerously he handles his heat meter (also note: the static effect from high heat is only in difficulties above 'Low').
Op 1 Mission 3:
My old time: 3:50
His time: 3:26
Comments: I originally claimed he'd only be able to find 10 seconds of improvements because of the very nature of the mission. Oh, how wrong I was. I am a little irked he allows a shutdown - however, he doesn't lose time because this mission is dependent on the slow-as-hell MFBs. As long as he takes everything necessary out before the MFBs get to where they need to, there's no issues. Water increases how fast the heat meter goes down so getting into it was a very smart move. Even after destroying all the mechs he still has time.
Op 1 Mission 4:
My old time: 2:33
His time: 1:55
Comments: Not much I can say - he takes time to disable the Orion for salvage, which is a smart move considering the size difference between a Bushwacker (the starting mech) and an Orion. Shooting for the legs not only takes mechs out faster (a mech can't move on one leg), but I believe it increases the chances of salvaging from them.
Op 2 Mission 1:
My old time: 3:37
His time: 2:14
Comments: He already noted the forgetting about the MASC (which increases the speed of a mech at the cost of generating quite a bit of heat - heat that can be completely offset with enough heat sinks). Misses a few times with those autocannons, which is an irking aesthetic, but the MFBs are delaying him again so I'll let it slide. What we'll need to find out is whether the 5 seconds he refers to is made up when he uses that Ultra AC 20.
Note: From this point on, he continues to thoroughly crush my old times, sometimes by a minute or two within a given mission! So instead of listing all the times here, I'm just going to refer you to the game's topic here - the second post has my old times. I'll just list comments about the levels.
Op 2 Mission 2: Lucky us, that Ultra AC20 from last mission is being used right away. Let's just say... OUCH! I doubt you could pull THAT off with the other autocannons available by then. The transport stomp is one of my favorite moments in the level... and I must say taking that performance last level to get more of the Ultra AC20 ammo was worth it.
Op 2 Mission 3: See how important the MASC is to this run? Although I'm not sure I'd call the Shadowcat a 'medium' mech.... it's more of a light mech posing as a medium one, what with its speed (even without a MASC it's a rather fast mech).
Op 2 Mission 4: Not much I can say at all... dealing with the Puma was a little iffy but I'll take it.
From here I realize I should just shut up and watch. After watching the rest, well, I'm floored by his performance.
I'm going to accept this.
