mike asked me to do a page for the marathon again this year: http://speeddemosarchive.com/marathon/

since people seemed to like last year's i've used the same design again. obviously the banner is just a placeholder until we have a real one made.
haven't done the schedule yet but it will be automated this year -- it's just going to leech the google spreadsheet.

you might notice there's a link to last year's schedule as well. i thought it would be cool to keep an archive of schedules/run vids from years past so i redid the directory structure to support that.

you might also notice i left a bunch of last year's information up -- i need yall's help with deciding how to update it:

which big games do you think should go under "games to look out for" on the right? (let's keep this under 15)
what special events do we have planned this year?
should anything more be said about prevent cancer foundation and if so what?
is there anything else you can think of that should go on the page?

mike: not sure if we need to talk to pcf about using their logo. if so i'll let you handle that again i guess.

Games we should mention:

-Chrono Trigger
-Ocarina of Time
-Portal
-Metal Gear Solid
-Halo
-Devil May Cry
-Super Mario games including 64
-Mario Galaxy 2
-Kingdom Hearts 2

And of course, Myst!

I asked PCF about the logo, they said they would give me one this week.

BTW, is there a way to keep last year's marathon page too? I know it was small, but it would be nice if it was still there.

Ark: Agreed on all of your choices. The look out list will be big this year.

Biospark: lol. I'm actually replaying fusion right now and the game is actually pretty good when you get past the fact the exploration is bad for a metroid game.

PJ: That's because we haven't prepared the appropriate motion sickness warning.

Fair enough.

Thought I would let you know the link to the old marathon page in the features page no longer works.
Willing to teach you the impossible
Any chance of a "Featured Speed Runners List" or something like that? I know some of the runners have big names/followings such as Frezy (I know he is not gunna be there but still it is a good example).

you should do a 1% single-segment.

Oh yeah, special events. Andrewg will probably do blindfolded Mario again. On top of Pianotoads, there's now Pianovania (for Castlevania 1), and there's a lot more races this time.

The blurb for PCF is probably fine as is. I (or someone else) can look on their site later to look up the specific research and advocacy they do.

will add pianovania and blindfolded mario. could someone give me a list of some big games that will have races?

ohh. someone might want to change that to http://speeddemosarchive.com/marathon/schedule/2010.html which is now the permanent link to last year's schedule. after this marathon, this year's will be http://speeddemosarchive.com/marathon/schedule/2011.html.

the schedule is now up at http://speeddemosarchive.com/marathon/schedule/

should be totally finished on my end. this time, it just uses the google spreadsheet so i won't have to make every change manually.

mike:

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask or sm64

you might want to fix that. Wink

Fixed, it's really going to be determined by donation. I should probably mention that Super Mario 64 is 120 star.
Haters gonna hate
Page was awesome last year.  This year's page looks a lot like last year's.  So, the transitive property tells us that this year's page is awesome.

Good stuff ark.  Thanks a lot.

np. thanks to a bit of help from nate the schedule now auto-updates every time you load the page which means i don't have to do anything at all this year. just update the google spreadsheet and you'll see the changes on the schedule page instantly.
