Everything's better with Magitek
Just completed an entire runthrough of Chrono Trigger and had some really bad luck throughout, which caused me to run out of items that I'd never run out of before.  I also tested a few changes to my route that will make  the Dragon Tank, Heckran, and the final battles safer.  There were a whole lot of interruptions and resets in this run, so tomorrow I'm hoping to do more of an actual SS attempt .

FACE RULES! (which ones, I don't know lol)

Anyway, first update in months (I have been practicing). I know I can get 18 minutes or less, depending on my luck. If I focus enough on the game without talking much, I can do well. Since it is a fast paced game, mistakes can happen, and something could happen to slow me down, but not by much. Only a couple of areas I'm really worried about in terms of enemy luck. Also, if my controller doesn't screw me up in Stage 4, I will be fine from that point forward without any deaths. Before that, I am worried about deaths in really the first two stages, strangely enough. As much as I hate Fire Grotto (Stage 3) I haven't done horribly there other than the miniboss occasionally. The final Pete battle goes well most of the time, I just have to get used to dodging fire if his pattern is different than what I am used to getting (I've gotten about 3 or 4 different patterns).
Haters gonna hate
Been playing Moonwalker mostly lately.  Have a pretty good handle on it at this point.  There's a couple bosses that can still be problematic (dogs in 2-3, super zombies in 3-2, and green soldiers in 5-2) and a couple spots where I can't seem to remember where exactly a kid is, but with a few more days to work on it I should be able to iron all of that out.  There's a few places where I can try to employ ballsier strats, but the timesavings on pretty much all of them is tiny, and I lose a bunch of time if I screw them up.  Really the biggest time waster I'm worried about is accidentally catching the comet in 3-2 and having to wait the 30 or so seconds for robo-Michael to wear off, though the viewers would probably love it if that happened, so I probably won't play it lame to avoid it there.  I've only timed on run so far and it came in at around 27 minutes, so the estimate of 30 shouldn't be a problem.

LttP is looking good for sub 1:45, there's a handful of spots that still worry me, but I've got a plan for everything, it's just a matter of executing.  Really, if everything goes swimmingly I have a decent chance of threatening Wak's time on the site.

Devil May Cry is basically to the point where I just need to stay in shape with it.  Mundus 2 and Nelo 3 are the biggest worry spots, and a couple of other bosses have the chance to be a speedbump (Griffon 3 and Nightmare 3 primarily), but outside of that handful of bosses there's nothing I'm really all that worried about.

Legend of Zelda might have to undergo a route change.  I was planning on starting with levels 3 and 4, but I'm finding getting those consistently right off the bat isn't very practical.  In 3 I'd have to pray for a bomb drop early or the darknut room would take forever and I'd basically have to get a 1 bomb kill on the level 3 boss (which is horribly random) to get out of there alive, and level 4 is also very bomb reliant for speed without the white sword.  So while I might get lucky with that route, the odds are against it.  So my route this year will be somewhat similar to last year's, but a little different, and should still yield a faster time.

Earthworm Jim I haven't worked on too much yet.  Played a little and I've still got the fundamentals, but it needs some polish, just have to knock the rest of the rust off.  I have no doubt I'll be in racing shape by Sunday.
I want off the ride....
ok ok ok;

FF2us: I do a boss rush every other day. Its just a compilation of a few save states before bosses. I know the walking routes already off by heart. I am mostly doing this in prep of marathon and well the eventual SS i might put out for this game.

RE5: I shot a few zombies to keep in shape, nothing more

RCR: i haven't done much but live practice @ marathon should be more than enough...

CC: Still working on the flying glitch shouldn't take too long

CVSOTN: Can't make sub 9 clock. My best attempts Thereotically got 9:07 taking the best of each area and using those... Actual best for sure right now is 9:13. I got a 9:16 just after with sloppier shield dashing but better gameplay. So i know i can do 9:10.. but 9:07 is a stretch right now so...
Satoryu: In the next couple of days take your time attack times and let me know what you get for the best of them?
in the hidden are my best times to each time attack notion (up to the clock) + clock. Each is the time it took. So just add them up for what my theoretical best time is on each. All done with PSN (120gb ps3).

Hi! I'm andrewg!
Some sub 25 minute speedruns of mega man 1 today. I played decently through all the games in the Mario series and feel more comfortable with Excitebike (it's really random).

The games I'm worrying about most at the moment:
- Mega Man 2
- Marble Madness
- Castlevania 1

Mega Man 2 I have little experience with. I used to be pretty good at running it, but I'm extremely rusty. Marble Madness I somehow lost my copy of, so I can't even practice it. I can tare through those levels usually so I think I'll do fine anyway. Still, I feel like I might just goof up horribly because I'm out of practice on it. I'm not so worried about Castlevania 1, but I haven't gotten many good runs on it lately. I'm definitely going to try and improve my average shortly.

The others are looking pretty solid (Average times in practice):
Mega Man: 24:30-26:30
Mega Man 2: practicing
Marble Madness: practicing
Excitebike: 7:30-8:00 (under estimated, oh well)
SMB: 5:05-5:20
SMB2: 10:30-11:00
SMB3: 12:00-14:00
SMB2J: ~10:00
SMW: 12:00... rusty on this one.
Castlevania: practicing again
Exoray
EWJ: Did some streaming today. Made a few runs around the estimated time and then followed up with a completely worthless run where pretty much everything went wrong (I didn't even finish, game overed near the end). Took a few minutes off, made some tea, and went back and did a not so good but not as horrible run that were only like 5 minutes above the mark.
Still need some practice in key areas that causes the most delays. Will focus on that in the upcoming days and also at the marathon where I'll be able to use a real genesis controller instead of this ps3 controller with less than good d-pad (practicing on the american version, so can't play it on my mega drive).

Aladdin: Did a quick run on Practice today. I should be able to do this without any problems even with distractions around me. There's one area where I can loose a lot of hp if I don't focus but apart from that, I should be able to talk and play for most of the run.
Also did a run on difficult. I still need to find some safer strats for some of the areas but I should be pretty much ready for it in case people donate for it.

Did a quick run of Actraiser.  I worked on some of the wall jumps again last night and tried to modify my route a bit to be a little bit more consistent.  I decided I will try the spike jump in Kasandora 2 only once, since if I miss it, I can get to the elevator in time and just cross that room the normal way.  I am too bad at it to rely on.  I will still try all 4 of my wall jumps I think, although the one in Marahna in which I walk through the wall is concerning me.  That's a really tough one to time.

Anyways, I was just using a digital clock for a rough estimate, and it came out to be somewhere between 27 and 28 minutes.  I'd guess a 27:20 or so.  I killed myself in Kasandora 2 in the room after my wall jump so I'd have enough health for the elevator.  I had some really terrible luck against Arctic Wyvern (he used 9 consecutive swoop attacks, but I didn't have the health to take advantage of that), so I lost a ton of time there dodging.  I also got stalled out a bit against Kalia round 2 in Death Heim, but that's ok.  I did succeed in all 4 wall jumps, but the Kasandora jump took 4 tries, the Marahna jump took 3 tries, and the Northwall jump took 2 tries.  I'll work on them some more before the race.

Overall though, feeling pretty good about it.  Almost walked into the fire of Aitos 2 though, forgetting what level I was on.  I defaulted to walking right and almost lost a quick life.  Heh.

I'll be doing Battletoads any% attempts tonight, so I might decide to just finish some for the heck of it to get an estimate for completion time.
41:XX no-death SGnG on my second practice game tonight!

I was working on doing the Rat Boot in Btoads without my audio cues, since we need kareshiano to accompany us during the race if we want it to be fun.  I actually was able to find workable visual cues relatively quickly.  I can get the boot like...90% of the time.  I guess if I can't line it up properly I can just let him get to the bomb first and retry.  It ought to be ok though.  Feelin good.

Did another Actraiser run today.  Had the worst Death Heim ever, both in terms of luck and execution, and a really bad Northwall Act II, but that's ok.  I didn't game over and I was well under the estimate so it's all good.

Got my Genesis today! I streamed two back-to-back RKA runs and got ~30:30 and 30:09. This race is getting really interesting.
We all scream for Eyes Cream
Did a few boss battles in KH2, particularly ones I wasn't too sure about(Volcano Lord and Blizzard Lord, Hostile Program, and Experiment). After that I spent 3-4 hours watching both my run and spikevegeta's segmented run for some extra notes, as well as anything I missed, and compiling 4 to 5 pages of notes for the marathon, particularly a list of Abilities I will use, where all the AP boosts are that I will grab, as well as where Ethers are, and what abilities I will use for specific boss battles(Complete with amount of AP I will have for them). So far with the amount of AP I will have and the Abilities I will use, I can cut 2 AP boosts, so I cut out the 2 that took the longest to take. This does mean a few changes to what I have equipped for a number of battles but it won't be a problem since I mostly take off abilities I have little to no use for during those battles. I might need it during the marathon since trying to remember them is difficult, but I'll try tomorrow before I start packing up.

Chrono Cross I'm a bit worried, if only cause I have had horrible luck with it recently. Depending how much I pack up tomorrow, I'll get some practice in before leaving Wednesday, or I'll get to practicing it more while at the center.

Now a hit show on the CW
Mega Man 9 - Did a couple more practice runs that went relatively smoothly...none of them were deathless, but for a game with so many instant death traps, I'll be content as long as my mistakes don't eat up a lot of time. I've ironed out all of the spots that were giving me trouble, so with a few more practice runs on this, I'm confident that I can perform a solid run.

Katamari Damacy - Made a couple practice runs and had no trouble finishing under the hour mark. If I spend a lot of time practicing before my live attempt, I may be able to beat Tom's record, but I have no idea how I'll perform under that kind of pressure, so I'm not going to get my hopes up just yet.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Unfortunately, my schedule up to this point hasn't allowed me to do any true single-segment playthroughs of the entire game, although I should be able to get in one full run tonight (and hopefully a couple more at the marathon). If my "segmented" attempts are any indication, I'm probably not going to finish this in the scheduled 3:40. There's a few tricks that I didn't realize until practicing that I'm not going to be able to do with Mario, plus I'm not going to have the benefit of unlocking all of the Hungry Luma stages, which means slower alternatives to make up the requisite 70 stars. If everyone's ok with me doing this as a NG+ run (basically, allow me to use the Bank Toad), it would save some time. Either way, I think 4 hours might be a better estimate, but I'll keep practicing to try to bring the time down as much as possible - I know it will totally throw the schedule out of whack if the first game goes long.
