I've been playing Btoads a lot lately to prepare for the marathon, and to prepare for beating the runs on the site.  I think I'm in really good shape for the marathon run/race.  I can set up the rat boot with or without music, so if kareshi wants to play piano, he is more than welcome.  The last time I played this, I was pretty drunk and I was able to thrash the game really hard.  I died a few times on level 9 from trying some new stuff, but I beat most of the game without dying or triggering any game-inhibiting glitches.  Booted the rat on my second try.  I definitely feel better about this now than I did a few weeks ago.  If I can do that drunk, I'm hoping I can do the same sober.  If not....I'll need to practice more.  Wink

After 8 really really really shitty deaths, I got 2:11 in RE4 by just shooting through everything. Would've been like 2:08. Playing for consistency is REALLY fucking hard in this game, but I can at least beat the 2:15 mark. Plan is to beat the game without dying at all, so we can expect under 2:10 real time if I keep my game face on.

37:56 RKA from power on to screen fadeout. That was also my first time playing in >6 months so everything was very rusty. Died three times, including once on the stage 5 boss (?!). My best time is 35:40 so by next month I should be able to hit times approaching that.

On that note though, I don't know if I'm going to be able to do the competing stream. The internet isn't even set up at the new place but that should be done tomorrow, and when it is I'm going to work out how feasible it will be. The two major challenges I'm facing are that the run's going to be at 5am my time (not an issue in terms of being awake, more in how much I'll be able to interact with the audience), and I may have to stream on wireless internet, which on this computer is incredibly unreliable. I can deal with this, but perhaps not in the time Mike would like. Once the internet is set up I'll have a much better idea.

Haters gonna hate
Hit my first deathless run of LttP tonight, time was something like 1:43.  It wasn't exactly pretty the whole way through but if had been my marathon run I wouldn't be overly upset about it (think it would've made for a good watch actually, a couple nice tense moments).  Hope to bring that time down further obviously, but definitely getting there with this one.
Willing to teach you the impossible
X2 is right around the 40-42 min mark atm. Mostly this way because I am using mostly Low% strats because that is what I am used to.

DD is going good. Have not timed it at all because I look at the time left at each area to see how I am doing. Well fast enough for the marathon though.

Super C is still super easy for me to get a 13:30 or better with weapons, and a 14:50 - 15min with Low%. I am not worried about this game much at all really.

Contra... grrrr. I was having such a hard time with this not too long ago. I was unable to get threw the first 5 stages w/o dieing. I took a step back and looked over what I was doing in the run. I watched Frezy's run and the marathon run. Then I tried again, now I am breezing threw most of the game. A few rough areas, but nothing that wont be smoothed out by marathon time.

I'm starting to get the hang of Final Fight, finally. Still dying more than I'd like, but not quite hemorrhaging credits anymore. Smiley

First Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts since August.
Was expecting 50+ (estimate is 50) but got 46:00 exactly, with only two deaths (both in Round 1.) Round 2 including the ending was no-hit.

One thing about my second death was it was the Worst Case Scenario: getting hit in Stage 5 towards the end.
That means starting Stage 6 with no magic attack, and you have to fight through 3 Red Arremers immediately.
But then I got the Best Case Scenario for a no-magic Level 6 - getting a Bow immediately. Was able to fight through Stage 6 no problems, grabbed a knife somewhere in the next stage, and went straight through from there.

Edit: Second SGnG today, 45:28 or so. With a no-hit Round 1 and a pretty rough Round 2, two deaths.
Ever since that guest posted their THPS2 video I've completely revamped my routes and I've been practicing them a lot. They are unfortunately much harder than the original ones so if I can't get them consistent in a couple weeks I'll go back to what I had. Dr. Mario is second nature and I'll do some more work on Tetris Attack but it isn't that bad.
Fucking Weeaboo
Kirby NiDL - A little too aggressive and died a couple of times, but overall not bad.  Needs some more work.
Rondo - Outside of some bad luck in Stage 2 (a merman showed up in the worst spot in the sewers and knocked me in the drink forcing me to start the whole stage over since I lost the key for KA Maria), not bad.
Played RE4 again, got a deathless run in 2:04:06.  2:15:00 still, to be safe, until I can get it lower.

Now I want to be faster than the New Game + Pro GC run on the site.
Everything's better with Magitek
I just posted this in the TSG forums, but I might as well post it here too.  For Chrono Trigger, I'm doing a runthrough in sections where I practice each section over and over - the main thing I need to practice is avoiding enemy encounters. Once I finish this runthrough, I'll start doing more single-segment-type runs.  By the way, in my current runthrough I just defeated Magus, and I'm 11 minutes ahead of the SDA 100% run. I really think that I'll be able to beat that record during the marathon.

A little bit later than expected but everything works smoothly now (even more so than I expected!) so the RKA race is definitely on!
welcome to the machine
bring it.

Grinding out levels in Kirby: NiDL. Have been a bit paranoid to actually stream my attempts. Tongue I really want to be able to get through the whole game without dying once before I stream.

Paranoid that you're always going to die or paranoid that your ultra secret techniques will be stolen? Tongue
$15 per rant/allegory
Bayonetta is going very well all of a sudden. Getting way closer to no deaths (without bad luck) than I expected.

If I have enough time, I might learn the dance. Could reel in a lot of donations.

I'm in ur streamz, stealin ur secretz.
I'm just trying to impress you.
After like 2 months without playing, I did some blast corps any% attempts the other day:
29:53
28:30
28:41
28:43
28:09

First one was awful but I quickly got back into a groove and broke my published record of 28:17 within 5 tries. I'll be practicing much more in the coming weeks.
Fucking Weeaboo
Practiced a bit of NiDL tonite.  Now I have nothing to fear about failing at 6-1, because I have ULTRA SECRET BACKUP in case I lose hammer in that stage.  Hell yeah.  SIX-ONE IS MY BITCH, YEAH.

Uyama and I did some Final Fight practice the past couple of days. We're right around 30 minutes, and honestly, we can probably knock another 30 seconds to a minute off of that fairly easily just by being a bit more aggressive on certain bosses rather than trying to bait them to us (The fact that we have two players means that we don't have to worry quite so much about other enemies on screen--one person can handle them while the second infinites the boss to death)
I want off the ride....
Did some more practice recently with carcinogen - we are solid on re5, but want to improve thats kinda to be said.

sotn - i'm cutting out more and more stupid errors, and its showing (getting closer to (9:30 and lower clock on psn). Also my times are falling by ~30 seconds per run. Hopefully i'll get it to where it needs to be soon.

ff4 - did a practice run at carc's and well, zeromus is still a problem.
CPU was too but that was cause i have been busy with school and mis timed my Meteo*. This caused two resets but wasn't much of a problem. Zeromus took 3-4 tries. I kept slowing down the gamespd with each attempt (3-6). I finally did it on the 4th and it was kinda messy. Of course the stream was like "Grind more?" and all the other suggestions so..

If anyone has any ideas for zeromus consistency drop them here. But a forewarning: Leveling Rydia for HP sucks and isn't worth the time. Leveling Cecil/Edge is a waste since i dont have the equipment to make them worth it. I have limited supplies and its hard to keep them alive/etc during Big Bangs. Over leveling Rydia/Rosa is ok but it takes more grind time and its still not a fixed guaranteed chance.
