While I've never ran this seriously and more of a thing to do for fun on the side, and don't use any official route... Stinger and Crow were recommending this. So can put me down for Legend of Mana if a fourth is needed.

like i said in my earlier update i will throw together teams and throw out teamnames, you guys can vote for what you like best, teams are obviously subject to change once people get better PBs (which will inevitably happen).

Yes, I did run FFA a bit, but not anymore, so I would need to re-learn the run entirely. Unfortunately, I don't have as much time as I had back then, so I probably won't go back on this game. Anyway, it seems all teams already have a runner for FFA, so it's better this way.

Looking forward to watch this race !

Alright friends here I will give you the first draft of the teams as of now (subject to change due to PBs, people stepping out etcetc) (sidenote: If more than 4 submitted, I will take the people with the 4 best PBs if the runners can't decide who should play).

lmk what you think for Team Names, imo the Elemental Sprite names of the ones I used are just sounding better for team names even though they have no real connection to each other.

Like I said we still got some time before this and PBs will change, thus Teams will change, the final draft on Teams will probably be out in the middle of October though, I hope until then people will practice enough and get a decent PB so I can decide on fair teams.

I like how the elemental spirit names you picked are the ones we skip in SoM (except Dryad). Also, I recommend Team Moogle as the FFA speedrun term because the moogle status has amazing music in that game.

From experience, including Luna and Lumina in the same list is asking for confusion. If we go with elemental spirits, I'd suggest using either Aura instead of Luna or Wisp instead of Lumina.

My vote is for the normal enemy team names.

Did my first practice run on the Dragon Storyline in LoM and got 2:10 on the final save file on PS3. Died 3 times, bad boss fights, lots of menuing derps, stopped to read notes multiple times. Lots of room to improve and hope to be in the 1:40s on the final save in a few weeks.

Thanks. I know that PS3 loses time compared to the original, but I'd like to think that 1:47/48/49 is still doable. Trying to stick to a minimum of 1 run a day to really get comfortable with the route.

EDIT: That being said, today's run was a 2:01 final save with 2nd try earthsplitter and 3rd try braveblade. The 2:10 I had was with 1st try on both drops. I'll keep working at it. Once I can run without needing notes I'll record my RTA time.

I'm still debating whether I want to safety strat IronGlove or risk it all with Earthsplitter for the race. Either way, it'll be trollific and a beautiful disaster. Also, I'm surprised Sir_VG didn't take Trollslitter for his team name :P.

So I ran with splits for the first time today and got some new times.

RTA 1:46:40
Final Save 1:56:52

This was with 5th try Earthsplitter and 3rd try Braveblade. Akravator used fly about 9 times, and I got lost in the Underworld (again).

Even on PS3, I think I can push this time to sub 1:44 RTA. I have no idea how much time I'm losing to loading screens, so I'm considering doing a run on emulator while streaming my own VOD to see the side by side differences.

Yes, there is a huge disparity between the loading screen times between emulator and PS3 with emulator being much closer to actual PSX.

To give you a quick example, 6th try Earthsplitter on emulator was still 10.5 seconds faster than 4th try Earthsplitter on PS3 in my splits.

Completing a run on ePSXe emulator, I got 1:38:34 RTA, 1:49:45 final save file. This is with 6th try Earthsplitter, Hitodama going invinci 8 times, 4 short flies + 3 gust attacks + 1 map attack fly Akravator, and 3rd try Braveblade.

My new PS3 PB 1:46:31 RTA had 4th try Earthsplitter, the best Hitodama I ever had, average Akravator, and 1st try Braveblade.

I'm pretty surprised by the difference. I'd say the total difference in loading screens alone is ~9 minutes give or take.
