I've ben trying to copy MrGrunz's run, and I've gotten to the first sun block in the Stone Tower Temple.  However, whenever I try to do the bombchu hover, the bombchu grabs the wall and gets away.  I'm using 1964.  Another smaller problem I have that I can get around is on the first bomb or bombchu hover, I have to do the second within about a second or I fall back to the ground.  After the second I can stay up.  Has anyone else had either of these problems or know how to remedy them?

i remember there being an unbreakable deku stick trick in OoT that i used to do for fun but i'm not sure if thats what your talking about. In that one i would just jump off a fence and swing my stick with a jumpslash at a wall, and if the deku stick breaks while in mid-air it becomes shorter and never breaks again until you put it away.

You should post the TAS route here, I want to see it lol

yeah, that one

I know, that it works, if you break the deku stick while standing in midair, but the question is, if we can use it against bosses Wink

the TAS route is here:
http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=267&start=1940

it's the one slowking posted

the route was a pain in the ass to create, but Slowking and I finally did it in a 4 hour IRC conversation. Azorae also put a lot of effort into this route

edit:
I've just noticed, that slowking forgot to add 2 improvements, but you don't have to care about it, because the baisics are the same
@misho
that's normal for bombchu hover. you have to be higher in the air than the high of a backflip, then you'll keep standing in midair

in order to make the bombchus explode at walls, you have to do the bombchu hovers really quickly. it seems to be nearly impossible in the beginning, but if you practice like it, it gets easy like cake Wink

I think, you missed lots of new tricks, if you didn't follow the TASvideos topic.
look them up here:

ISS: infinite superslide
we actually mean hyper endless superslides with this. they're also posted on my channel
aaah its really messy  :P. i would try to clean it up for you and post it here but i dont have enough time. maybe tommorow lol
Numbers Time

Blast Mask recharge is 15.55 seconds (311 frames)

This means if you climbed stone tower with only blast mask and hookshot it would take 342.1 seconds (5.7 minutes or 6842 frames).

AWESOME.

5 Bombs and 17 Chus
MrGrunz, are you going to upload your MM run to SDA? SDA needs an updated MM run badly lol you definetly should

Grunz's run was done on an emulator, so it's not eligible to go up.  Otherwise I'm sure he would have submitted it.
Merry Chrismas =)
I had no DVD recorder, so I did it with fraps and project 64, so no way to submit it Wink

finally a new MM trick Tongue
as buying the magic bean for 100% from the magic bean guy is lame, we should do this:

we gain one explosive, 100 rupees with this trick, because we need 14 explosives to get up there, if you optimize it and we can get 10 bombchus and 5 bombs up there. refilling magic and health is possible as well Wink
I was gunna ask this in a comment on YT but i forgot to so i might aswell ask here.

Is HISS TAS only? If not where could i go to find out how to do it?
Merry Chrismas =)
it's definately not a TAS only, but it's pretty hard to get a HISS with a good speed

you have to get hit by something pretty much in the end of your roll (no shield requiered), while holding the control stick a little bit to the left or right (the same as normal ISS after SS) and after you get hit, press Z and keep holding the control stick a little bit to the left or right and you'll be doing a HISS.

for TAS timing, you roll 43-38 frames before the bomb explodes/you get hit.
60 frames are one second, so you can imagine, when to roll.

43 frames before the bomb explodes is the best moment to roll. this gives you the highest speed.

if you roll too early, the bomb will hit you like you you would be standing normally and if you roll too late, you won't get much speed from the explosion

odd gyorg glitch:
Just curious about something: In SwordlessLink's TAS, he plans to use a reset to skip the first and second cycle introduction scenes by resetting after the 'Dawn of the First Day' message. (Video: ) Would this be a legal segment break? (just turning off the console after the message to end the segment) It would cut down the horrendously long first cycle segment as well as saving about 45 seconds of cutscene time. However, I don't think I've ever seen a run here segment on an autosave before...

both Dragorn and pyh's runs do exactly that.

Note that the GCN version distinctly does not save there.  Not sure about VC, but I'm guessing it does.

someone just sent this message to me on youtube with an awesome trick:

[quote]The glitch I thought might be helpful for the MM speedrun is "Infinite" bottles glitch. using this we could turn the deku mask into a bottle (I'm asuming it's not needed it in the run after deku palace) and/or the deku stick that you buy in the shop. + other items that are not uset during or after the zora egg collect maybe. (perhaps lens of truth?)

My method:

go to the curiosity shop with atleast one sellable Item. (fish, bugs, milk etc.) and show the guy it then you have the choice to say "deal" or not. when you press "deal" there is a small amount of time before you get the rupees. in that time, you can press start and switch the bottle with something. and that Item Is now a bottle and you get money for it!

how It works:
There are two functions of this, give rupees and replace the Item with a bottle (because the only sellable Items are bottled).

three notes:
1. In the tiny amount of time, you can also use c-buttons and the last C used gets replaced. so If you use a transform mask, you will stay In that form without the mask. also using any songs to warp you away during will cancel It when you warp.

2. Turning the bow to a bottle means you can still use arrows by going on epona or using the fire arrows.

3. Replace a stockable Item and use song of time and It keeps them when you buy more (eg. when 6 deku sticks are replaced, and the song of time is used, when you buy another 1 from the shop, you'll have 7.) meaning using a fire arrow gives the same amount of arrows when bottle replaces it no matter how many times you time travel. (you can buy and pickup more arrows anytime and keep them on the next cyle(s))

This may be helpful because we can get all the eggs in one go.

or...
we can use It to get a bottle quicker by replacing an easy to get item such as the leaders mask. (the ranch one is quite long)

this trick only works If youre realy fast at tapping the start button.
This was done on my N64 MM (PAL)
Amazing find, really awesome.

Give that man a cookie.
What you can do with this glitch (mostly thanks to Unreal and Grunz, though others were helping):

1. After woodfall, bottle dupe over deku nuts, deku mask, and bow. You now have four bottles, and only have to make one trip each to Pirate's Fortress and Pinnacle Rock. You can also skip the ranch completely. As you still have the quiver, you can still fire arrows, you just need fire arrows (haha...or light arrows). If not going for a goron mask skip, you could potentially also dupe over LoT instead of nuts.

2. When you perform this glitch, the item you were selling remains in the original bottle, yet you still get rupees for it. For a 100% run, get Gold Dust and perform this trick, switching to an empty bottle every time. You'll get very, very fast rupees, and are conveniently right next to the banker.

3. Turn the ocarina into a bottle. The game now thinks you are on the first cycle. If you head into the field, there will be no enemies or music, just like the first cycle. Useless, but it gives us a look into the checks the game uses to determine cycle.

4. Instead of pausing, if you mash a button for a transformation mask or the ocarina, you will transform / pull out the ocarina instead. This will turn whatever item you chose into a bottle. If you do this with every mask, you can even have yourself permanently stuck as a transformation.

We put a lot of effot looking into ways to dupe eggs or rba/ba, but no luck so far. However, this will still change the any% route beacuse of 1, and the 100% route because of 1 and 2.
Stand: Devil's Call in your Heart
i have a question

do all the replaced items stay like that after saving or do some of them revert back after saving?
Quote from UchihaSasuke:

Yes, all items stay as bottles after saving. The only time they will revert back to there original state is when the moon crushes Termina.
Stand: Devil's Call in your Heart
so, in theory, i could do the bottle trick, get lots of eggs in 1 shot, get the zora song, save, die by moon crush in a new cycle and have everything back or is that not allowed?

Do you mean by getting 7 bottles and getting the eggs? This would be allowed I think even in 100%.
Quote from UchihaSasuke:

No the moon crashing reverts you back to your last save.
The only thing that reverts items back is to get them again. For example if you turned a Deku Stick into a bottle getting a Deku Stick will turn the bottle back into the stick.

Btw. getting 7 bottles doesn't make sense. 4 bottles are enough. There are only 4 in PF and before PR you have to warp to the observatory anyway. You might as well drop the eggs into the tank while you are there.
This bottle trick will probably be nice to try out for the 6-Day Challenge run too...getting all the zora eggs in one go will reduce my current time by a few hours. Can you turn any mask (say, Giant Mask) into a bottle? Then we could just kill Twinmold with arrows (which is faster for game time because we don't have the gilded sword.) What about turning event items (land deeds, Inn key, or letters) into bottles? Does that work?
MrGrunz is a guay
Any C item works.
