My feelings on The Demon Rush
It's obvious we aren't going to have our main marathon there, but we should do something.

Here are my two ideas:

1. Have the panel with video and live demonstration again. Yes, unoriginal, I know, but our crowd seems to get bigger and bigger, and the panel always seems to go over with the crowd fairly well. It might be even better if we prepare a speech this time!

2. Have a smaller-scale marathon that's focused at the venue. This would be 24-48 hours (maybe a bit longer, who knows), and would be focused more on the MAGFest crowd. If we can stream it live, great, but if we can't stream it live, then it won't be a disaster.

Aside from that, I can't really think of much, does anyone else have any ideas?

I think the panel is a better idea, if anybody has any energy left after the 100 hour marathon we clearly didn't play hard enough!  Roll Eyes
You got a deletion wish?
Panel assuming any of us are there (I won't, I'm for our rousing marathon).

Okay, Mike Uyama, listen up:

DON'T BURN YOURSELF OUT!!!!!!!

...

That being said, I think the panel/demo video is a good idea once again.

Instead of a mini-marathon of 24-48 hours, we could have a micro-marathon of 2-3 SHORT games to demonstrate.  That would get the point across.  I think we should NOT STREAM the micro-marathon because setting that up takes up more time than YOU need to be worrying about.

Once again, if I can totally solidify being at the marathon (won't know officially until a couple of months out), I can be a "lacky" and help out with my Toyota Justice Power.

i think a panel again would be good. forget if magfest is before or after our marathon but if it's before it would definitely be a good place to advertise.

The reason why I mentioned 24-48 hours is that I didn't want it to be a big-scale thing, just a smaller, easier to handle marathon. I do see why we wouldn't want to do another one so soon though.

I do like tjp's idea. I do want to do more than just a panel at MAGFest, but at the same time, I know we don't want to do anything too strenuous after the marathon.

Ark: MAGFest is after our marathon.
We all scream for Eyes Cream
I say mini-marathon. If I do go I'd probably bring my PS2 and EasyCap and I could play KH2/DMC3 at Magfest in a random location on my laptop. Maybe we could find a place to do more of it.
I can do my games at the MAGfest marathon if you want. I'll be around and would probably be playing those games anyway.
maybe we could engage the audience more by offering/choosing one or two people to try running against one of the runners, maybe in a game the runner isn't used to running. i don't know, something along the lines of picking an audience member to race against seems like it could be pretty entertaining
Yes, a worthless avatar riding my posts.

This is AWESOME. Random folks coming up to face off against Breakdown at Zelda II and stuff...runners could start doing money matches to pay for their trip? =D

Heh.

Like Kareshi, I'll probably wind up playing a game or two at MAGFest anyway (Battletoads is one of them). I do like the idea of casual races too, or doing what rom and Rane did in rom's stream a few weeks back (Make it a game the runner IS familiar with, but impose some condition on them--the other player gets a X-minute head start, or the runner has to low% or something similar.).
that Metroidvania guy
what the hell made you think that 2 marathons was a good idea, brochacho? O_o

but yea, pretty much the same idea as everyone else, panel is good, and if enough people who ran certain games are still around, maybe a race or two of something and if not then a few demos by some people is cool
Is PJ
If I stay for MAGFest, I'd like to try a 2P run of Btoads with Emptyeye.  This is one of the hardest challenges I've ever done, and my brother and I have only successfully completed it once.  Mostly because we fool around too much I think.  Still, a 2P player "speed run" of Btoads is an absolute blast.
Waiting hurts my soul...
I suggest no more than 12 hours straight so soon after the full marathon. Cut down RPGs to no more than one and only ones that take ~3 hours. You're not going to have everyone at MAGFest at the full marathon, so coming up with 24 - 48 hours worth of games that can be played at MAGFest might be a little hard, plus that's a full day or two taken away from enjoying everything else at MAGFest.

If you're going to have a booth/setup (I'm not sure how it works at MAGFest), you could host speed challenges with rankings showing who has the current fastest time. Maybe a "who can get closest to the current SDA record?" Record the challenges, and offer to send them a copy (or sell them one for a small fee?). List the current bounties and possibly have those games available to play. List the current requested games by the members (although might be confusing to list these as well as the bounties).

I dout it could happen in time but would it be possible to edit together a quick highlights reel from the marathon to show at the panel?
Legendary Dragoon
Whatever you guys do, I'll probably spectate.  But my destiny is at the Challenge Corner.  Though maybe if you guys do a mini-marathon, Bubble Bobble could happen if my brother would want to do that (we're both coming to MAGFest, for sure).

very interesting idea. i won't be at magfest but i can potentially pass the video off to someone else before i leave. have to see whether it's realistic as i figure out more about how i'm going to record the marathon. it would be best to save clips as we go along but that may not be realistic.

If their wasnt time a shorter version of UA's highlight video of this year could be shown.

Hey, breakdown suggested we could have a projector in the console room, and do some live speedruns when we felt like it. Any thoughts about this?
Willing to teach you the impossible
I kinda plan on working on some speedruns while there anyway, so I agree with this idea

Heidman, this is for MAGFest, not the marathon.
Willing to teach you the impossible
oh... well then nvm. I thought this was a diff thread...

That's technically the proto-marathon, isn't it?
Talk to the Hand
It'd be the epi-marathon, I'd think, seeing as MAGFest is after the marathon.

Oooh, nice idea, having live-streaming attempts -- casual, though.

Let's make it a meta-marathon!
