give me your eyes!!!
I recently picked this game out of the rubble after we moved house, and even though I've completed it a few times before it's been years and I've decided to speed-run it.

I'm already half way through and am doing it mostly for my own benefit, but if anyone is interested I'll submit it.

Btw, it's recorded with a camcorder (the audio is streamed thank god), yet the quality is decent save for a bit of focusing.

(Actually the main problem is that it only runs on win95 so my crummy old laptop is playing a beat up cd and losing.)

Still, fun!
Thread title:
I'd be interested in seeing it. I played that game through one or two times.

Are you using any specific tricks or strategies?

Always my own. I hate using walkthroughs, takes the fun out of discovering stuff.

Basically completed the main steps as fast as possible,

trying not to die while beating enemies at close range (toggling between sporty and aggressive to get close enough),

skipping all FMVs and dialogue (duh) except one which i like,

i've discovered the odd glitchlet so those are included,

losing a life at key moments (accidentally)so i can lightning lots of people,

conserving mana so i can lightning then lose life,

not getting any boxes or out of way clover,

trying not to suck in the process.

Going well so far! (stopped for the night since laptop decided to crash then turn multicoloured then crash again). Should be done some time next week.
i like to watch.
i'm interested too!

Only one segment left to do, this game seemed far longer than before but I've sprinted through the later areas (which can only be a good thing).

The last one will be done when the sun stops shining off various parts of the room onto the screen, look here for the final time!

I doubt the quality will be good enough if you're using a camcorder. But if you get a better quality run done, I'll watch it.

Is there any accepted way to run DOS games? LBA1 only runs on DOS as far as I know, and it's way better than 2. (Or maybe the memory makes it seem better than it really was.)
Use LbaWin to run LBA1 on Windows : http://lbawin.akoonet.com  Wink .

I've watched them through and the quality is very good considering the capture, with slight but mostly undisturbing amounts of glare.

As I said before, the main problem is when the graphics flip out or the audio decomposes (I apologize in advance for segement 3) due to the computer, but most of it is perfectly watchable.

Final time 2:24 approx in 10 segments!

If I had practiced more it would have been better but it is difficult to take more time off due to the randomness of some battles.
Some segments are great, others not so, but my worst segment is compensated by a hilarious death right at the end ^_^

*do you think I should have a reel just showing all the FMVs since some are very good, or shouldn't I bother?*

Haha, I wasn't too happy with my videos. I had done virtually no practice beforehand so there were several newb mistakes, and I've now found a better cable allowing me to record in stereo.

Therefore I have deleted my previous runs and in the near future will produce a SS run, as damn near to perfect as I can make it. Whoo! (seriously this game can be crazy hard so it'll be interesting to see what i can produce)

*sigh*

Thought I needed to give feedback to those that care.

Did a 2:30 SS run (though in reality segmented since I had to restart computer twice), very happy with it.

Recording got screwed up (the MPEG carried on with no sound for a bit then fast-forwarded through the game; the avi was fine but the audio was desynced by about 2 seconds).

I consider computer too messed up to use and will never play this game again.

I'd be interested in someone elses run and I can offer advice, but for now no chance of a run...
I'm working on a LBA1 run. I've got a route laid out. The problem is surviving. I'm hoping to do a single-segment run, but there are some places where you just have to get lucky if you want to survive - you can very easily get locked into a damage cycle and then killed.

The other problem with LBA1 is the 200 Kashes needed to buy the catamaran. I can't think of any way to get that money short of constantly loading my game at the military camp on Principal Island and killing the guy for 15 Kashes. But I don't know if it'd be allowed to use the game's seriously weird save system like this. It'd be useful if it was, as it can be exploited to great effect in other places too...

For the money in LBA1, there's a house somewhere where you can go in and out and each time get some money from a chest or something. Sorry, I'm being really vague because I can't remember where it was or even how much money you get. I think it's a house in which you first enter from the cellar after going through an underground tunnel or something like that. *sigh* I really need to get this game working again (Dosbox is too slow).
