Legend of Zelda, best controller

I've recently got back into The Legend of Zelda, playing it through Nestopia with a Buffalo Classic USB Gamepad (it resembles a SNES controller, which is fine--I don't have to have classic NES design). The Buffalo seems pretty good, but I'm wondering if there are any better USB game pads out there. Also, if I get into speedrunning, does playing through an emulator become much of a disadvantage? I got rid of my original Nintendo many years ago, but I'd consider picking up another if it would help. Thanks.

HELLO!

It can be a big disadvantage due to lag issues.

But unless you have aims at setting records it doesn't otherwise matter.

Your screenname sounds familiar. I think I saw you doing commentary on one of Darkwing Duck's speedruns. Thanks for responding. The level of knowledge you guys have for this game is incredible and inspiring. Thanks to some of those videos, I learned about the screen scroll and block clip, among other things.

Thanks, chief. Lots of good info there that helped clarify some things for me.
