Anyway, I can't figure it out, but I'm sure it has something to do with Kirby inhaling. As far as recording goes... I actually don't have a DVD recorder, and I have too many bills right now. Maybe in the summer? I can work on a segmented run with an emulator just to show what I do (or show how much bad luck I get). I need to practice some tricks too. There's a couple of jumps in the first level that the TAS misses, which make the level go alot faster, but one of them involves inhaling an enemy, so Kirby kind of double jumps.
Thanks!! Glad to know more than two people are interested in this game. Oh! I should note, for those who are wondering since I can't fly super fast with Coo and fire seems like a better option, it's because fire actually lags the game if there are too many enemies on screen. If you watch where the TAS uses Fire Ability, those are pretty much the only areas where it won't lag. Spark ability lags scrolling stages, and rock ability actually STOPS scrolling for a second. Also, I don't want to go back and forward through each level to pick up Kirby's animal friends too many times, so I just use Coo as much as possible.
Tested fire again, and I over exaggerated the lag. My bad. The game only lags when Kirby stops. BUT!! There is the fact Kirby only dashes for a second with fire ability, when he stops, he's not invulnerable, therefore there are parts where he needs to walk before safely dashing through enemies/over holes. Just constantly mashing "A" while with Coo is faster because Coo rarely needs to stop for something. Anyway, I think I pretty much have the route down; I just need to practice not getting hit/running into enemies now.
OH! Also even though Kine/Rock does more damage to Sweet Stuff (boss #3), Sweet Stuff moves around too much to properly hit him (or hit him without getting hit yourself), so it's faster to just shoot light bulbs with Kine/Electric.
Makes sense to me. You should always aim your fireballs, you should have the distance memorized by now and know where you should or shouldn't use it. At least it isn't like Kirby 64 double fire where you have to plan WAY ahead before very fireball you use.
Quantity over quality, sometimes you have to switch it up to be safe.
Okay, so since I don't have a DVD recorder, I gotta do some runs on an emulator. Since they can't be submitted to SDA anyway, I'll just do some segments to show my strategies. I also have a new found respect for people who run these 30+ min SS games. So much shit happens at random when I'm playing. I'm totally gonna focus on a Zelda game after this lol.
BUt sadly, I still don't have anything up. I want to focus this summer on losing some weight and working out actually, so I may not spend as much time on this run as I wanted to, but I gotta look sexy for the beach! Or some shit like that. Anyway, just letting those who still have interest know I'm trying to get a lower time than I have right now.
This is my route.(there is nothing to write means keeping ability and partner) 1-1~2-1:same as you 2-2:Fly to the end. 2-3:Get Cutter 2-Boss:Spit out Cutter and Nellie.(or fighting with Cutter. I'm not sure it's faster)
3-1:Get Stone 3-2:Get rid of Stone before getting Cutter. 3-3:Keeping Cutter(If you failed, back to 2-2 in order to get Cutter. But keeping is very hard though.) 3-Boss:Beat with Cutter/Coo
4-1:If you lose Cutter in boss, get Cutter in stage. 4-2:Skip mid boss, get rid of Cutter before getting Fire. 4-3:Beat mid boss with fire. 4-4:Spit out Fire, hit mid boss. And get Cutter. 4-Boss:Beat with Cutter/Coo
5-1:If lose Cutter in boss, Get fire. And get Cutter again.(If you don't lose, you don't need to change at all.) 5-2:If you lose Cutter, get Cutter from mid boss. 5-3:If you lose Coo, get Coo. 5-4:Spit out Cutter, hit mid boss. And get Fire. 5-5:Get rid of Fire before Cutter. 5-Boss:Beat with Cutter/Coo.(If you beat either, you can spit out Cutter.)
6-1:Fly to the end. 6-2:Get Ice, get rid of Coo. And go back 5-3 in order to get Coo. 6-3:Get Electric, Fire, Stone. 6-4:Beat mid boss with Stone. And Go up with same ability and partner. 6-5:Get rid of Stone with Gordo and get Cutter. 6-6:Keep Cutter.(If you failed, back to 2-2 in order to get Cutter. It's not harder than 3-3) 6-Boss:Beat with Cutter/Coo.
7-1:Spit out Cutter, hit mid boss.(or beat with Cutter.) You don't need Fire. 7-2:If you lose Cutter, get Cutter. 7-3:Spit out Cutter, hit mid boss.(or beat with Cutter.) You don't need Ice. 7-4:Get Cutter and spit out it, hit mid boss. You don't need Cutter. 7-5:Get parasol and spit out it, hit mid boss. And get Stone. 7-6:Spit out Stone, hit mid boss. You don't need Needle. 7-7:same as you except go back to 7-4 in order to get Cutter. 7-Boss:Beat with Cutter.
I see what you did there. I could never get the timing/distance correct with coo/cutter for max damage. And how did you get through the water with Coo though? She can't swim down while pressing A iirc. And you skipped the mid-boss in 4-2?? how? Also, how come you don't use rock against King DeDeDe? It's a lot faster and you can actually beat him before he goes beserk.
Yes, Coo can't swim fast. I don't special input. I thought changing Kine is waste even he can swim fast so I don't change even continue water stages. Skipping mid boss in 4-2 is nothing special too. It's simply to go "left" door not "right". This route should start 4-2 with Coo. Skipping is very easy.
Picking up Cutter can save taking ability. Actually Stone in 7-2 is too far than Cutter in 7-4. And Cutter can beat before berserk too.(at least I did). Yes, I know Stone is strong but I can't use well. :p
Interesting. I gotta try this strat now... I kinda started to work out and forgot about the game. XD;; Anyway, to get the rock to work, DeDeDe needs to be asleep, and half of Kirby's sprite is actually inside of DeDeDe's. But I guess my strat just backtracked to much and wasted a minute.
Hello. You mentioned a wall glitch earlier in this thread. Can you provide more details please? At what exact place in which room in level 2-1 did it happen? What were you doing with which enemy in particular? Where you going through the floor or through a wall, or through a sloped floor perhaps, or a ledge?
