i'm planning on doing kirby squeak squad as my first speed demo. may be a bad decision, because of the portable issue, but i read the guidelines and it seems feasible. plus i love the game.
If you are doing this run now,thaan you won't get that much help than,necause the game just came out within the past two week if I'm not mistaken.I'm not trying to discourage you,it's just i'm just being sure you know that you'll have to do alot of planning yourself.I plan on getting this game for Christmas,so if I can find something when I get it,I'll be sure to let you know.Well, good luck on any progress you make!
ty everybody. i plan on doing a 5star run with secret levels on story mode. looks like a lot of fire so far. here are the notes i wrote up in about 30 minutes. work in progress.
kirby speed run notes
1-1: get fire. fireball
1-2: keep fire. sword bubble
1-3: keep fire. get fire bubble.remember your jump fireballs!
cause getting all the chests is a pain. plus, if i get all the chests, that means that i need to get MANY of the copy abiliies that the developers want me to get. there are many spots where you have to have iron or wheel or animal just to get that one chest. it slows me down and messes up what ability i have/get. in many cases i would have to use a slow ability(not fire or wheel or anything else fast) throughout a whole level. i just want to do all the levels, which is why i said secret levels included. also, i think there are some skill scrolls that i want to get to help boss battles in the secret levels.
edit: up to level 4 with 31:49 with too many mistakes. i lost tons of powerups that speed me up midlevel, so i had to finish the level, go to a previous level, get them, and quit that level. this was with extra mode. updated strat.

I don't think SDA will allow you to do that as a category. I think you'll only get a 100%, or an any% (in which case all you need to do is get to the end of the game, without bothering with the secret levels). They can't be expected to work a run for every combination.
So,why will the first Kirby Squeak Squad run be %100? I think the opener for a certain catagory should start with a low,or any %,but it's your choice,not mine!
Also,how do you plan to record this run?Jist wondering.

I ask this question because I found a way to get into a wall, though it involves Ghost Kirby and I'm not exactly positive on why it works; I'm experimenting with it in different ways to see if there's any way I could abuse this to fly through levels.

It depends on what happens when you go through the walls. If you're simply going through walls to get to different areas on the screen I think that won't be a problem. However, if you leave the boundaries of the world (in this case, going through walls and going somewhere unexpected) and suddenly teleport to an unexpected place, that wouldn't be acceptable.
I believe that's the way the rules would work? Although I'm not an official so take my thoughts with a grain of salt.
I should mention that I have this game and have played through. No speedrun attempt, though, but if I see anything being said wrong here I might be able to mention something...
how do you get the third treasure chest for the world 6 extra level i need 2 no
Don't know which one you're referring to, but I'll list all 3.
1 - Use wheel to get to the bottom before the treasure chest is blocked off
2 - In the room with the waterfall, stay against the left wall. When you land on the 2 ice cubes, just slide or use a power or whatever to get rid of them. In the door, kill the yellow Waddle Dee before he gets away.
3 - Fight Spinni in the last room for the treasure chest
