well ,a friend of mine can run it in about 7h (6h 34m at the savepoint before last Ansem) But since we are both from germany we only have the pal version of the game...and we are not going to buy a ntsc-ps2 or the game in ntsc (he recently bought an ntsc snes from ebay ,because he wants to try if he can run some games) ,but i think he is going to do a kh pal run in a few months...( he is really good ,he can defeat sephiroth without taking damage...i know that has nothing to do with the run ,but it is impressive ^^)
i dont think it would be single segment ,because the tapes i know are only able to record 4h...but i think it could be done in 3-5 segments.
i dont know how to get a tape to the usa ,but that should be half the problem after doing the run...

id really love to try this, and im pretty sure ill be able to.  however, i haven't played it in awhile, and i have somewhat limited access to a playstation (brother is on it alot too), so any help with strategizing and stuff would be greatly appreciated.  also, is anyone else going to be actively trying to do a full run?

hi.im the friend deathstroke was talking about...i think he exaggerated a bit because im not sure if i can do a good speedrun.its true that i can defeat Sephiroth without taking any damage and i can also defeat him under lvl50 which is very hard too (i think i defeated him when i was lvl44 but im not sure so i will soon look which lvl i was).in the end this won`t help me to do a speedrun so i will soon look if i can find any shortcuts in the game.but i think i must give up my attempts to do a speedrun on kingdom hearts when i finally get my ntsc snes because i want to a speedrun on a different game first (sorry but i won`t say on which game i will try to do a speedrun because it might be too dangerous =) )

if someone is interested i could produce a movie which shows how i defeat sephiroth without taking any damage or a movie 
which shows how i defeat sephiroth under lvl50 (still dont know which lvl i was because i gave the game to a friend of mine -.-).the only problem i have is that i dont know whether the guys of speeddemosarchive accept such movies...

MGS for PS1 forever.
A friend of mine bragged for awhile about how he could beat sephiroth at such a low level. At the time he was like lvl 60 something.

"Dude...when he does that halo thing and you then have 1 hp...I was able to dodge all of his attacks..."

yadda yadda yadda

Impressive...at the time, yes...but if you figure out the time it takes for you to being taken down to 1 after he completes his little spell thing, I was able to take an elixir and I was back at full health. Dodging is difficult, but it's all about timing.

Besides...sephiroth isn't required to beat the game.

Well it isn't impossible to dodge the "one winged angel" attack...i can do it half of the time he attacks me...
I think it should be able to beat this game under 6 hours...yes it seems to be unlikely to do that ,but there are nearly no shortcuts discovered...think about it ,you can beat this game in around 8h (i tried) if you just walk through it...without knowing any tricks or better ways. If you really find out shortcuts and discover the perfect route and such things it should be able to do it in 6 hours or less ( i might be wrong ,but time will show)

yes i know it´s not necessary to beat sephiroth for a speedrun but i think its impressive too when i beat him on lvl44.sephiroth never hits me with his halo attack...and he neither hits me with his super nova nor with his omnislash.the only problem i have is his 3 part because he hits me pretty often with his damn dark balls and his normal attack in 3 part is very difficult to avoid too.if you do very well you can also prevent him from doing the super nova when he starts his 3 part but this is very difficult because you have to hit him just when he´s about to disappear and do his super nova...but don´t expect me to beat him without taking any damage AND on lvl44 because this could take months to do this but it´s still not impossible.if somebody is interested in watching me defeating sephiroth on lvl44 or without taking any damage (i will defeat him on lvl100 without taking any damage because otherwise it´s too difficult) please let me know and i will try to do a movie of that this week-end.i will also try a speedrun this week-end but i don´t think that i`m able to perform a perfect speedrun because it has been a while since i played kingdom hearts the last time.

yo! my friend sephiroth is just here at my home and we are doing a 3 segment speedrun.
segment one is begining to end of agrabah
segment two is after agrabah to begining hollow bastion
one and two are done. we are at hollow bastion AND we are sub 5 hours (4h45m but if we would repeat it it could be 4h30 or even better) the third segment schould last about 2 hours
we don't know if we send in this one or if we do it again for a better time
thats it for now....

I won't have any time to try my hand at the run before the end of July.  Sad

But I'll wait to see what the final time is and work on that  8)

normal of cousre...as hard as it sounds but i think sub 7 hours is nearly impossible in hard mode...(what doesnt mean that we wont try some other time)
oh and @ crispx : it's not like it would mean anything to us if you beat our time since we do a pal run an you (i guess ,tell me if i'm wrong) and you do a ntsc run...those are two diffrent categories (so we both can be listed on the side ;D)
i guess our run should be ready at the end of jully...because we really still want to improve all of our segments...

I meant what were the choices you made in the beginning...shield, sword? ...and the beginning at dawn/dusk? I would think choosing sword would be easier since you get a higher attack. The dawn/dusk thing is how fast you level up. I believe 'dawn' makes you level quicker from 1 to 50 and 'dusk makes you level from 51 to 100 quicker.

we got the sword and then the cain ( what means taht we abdicate magic) because attack and defense seemed to be important in a run...oh and  we took the first answer in every question ,what means that our levels are growing fast (i guess thats dawn ,but i'm not sure)

ok third segment is done but it isn´t a good run.my time at the last save point:7h5min.i think i could do it half an hour better because this was my first time that i play KH again for
months.im a bit trained now after this run so i think i could do
a very good run at the first segment tomorrow and maybe i could improve the second segment tomorrow too.

Hey. This game does. Mainly things like jumping onto ladders, and jumping corners though. I don't know of anything else.

ok but i hoped that there were any shortcuts in the game...but it seems that i have to do a speedrun without any shortcuts;just with perfect movement and good boss fights...well i hope you will enjoy my run anyway when i finished it

Not all stages have to be completed to finish the game.  In that sense there are definitely shortcuts.  Skill in fighting, where to level up and how, boss strategies, dodging, and other mechanical things definitely also contribute.

yeah ,we know you can left out atlantica...but what we mean with shortcuts is stuff like...getting through hollow bastion in half the time with curios ways or stuff like that...and it dont seem to have stuff like that in it :-/

No, probably not. Smiley A lot of modern game engines are sealed up pretty tight to prevent bugs like that from springing out. Of course, that doesn't mean occasionally you see games where you can fly through the air at will. *cough* hl2 *cough*

i had to learn  a lot for school this week so i couldn´t try to do a speedrun until now. i think i will complete segment 1 and 2 this week-end,or maybe i can complete the whole speedrun but i´m not sure..i will try my best =)
