Hey everyone. I've followed the site for a couple years, but never bothered to sign up until now. I've always enjoyed casual speedrunning, mostly the common titles (Mega Man, Metroid) but also some other stuff. I hope to be able to gain some knowledge and feedback here to bump myself up to a higher level of speedrunning. I'd also hopefully like to help out with verification if any titles I'm familiar with are up for review.

Metroid 1-boss run is a difficult category, but something I'd like to see be pushed closer to its limits. If you have what it takes to beat the current run or even challenge cak's run (unfortunately no video available), you'd be my hero.

Ohh, and I should say hi to everyone else that just joined as well. Smiley

Also, we currently have NO Wind Waker run up on the site, due to the old one being removed.

+2 against silly
Hi, I'm Lillian, but most people call me Lily or Ashen. I've lurked like a boss on SDA for a good... two years now? Probably longer; I enjoy watching runs whenever I have the time. I always go on these spats of joining places sometimes, and I decided this would be the place, since my ideas about playing games is changing. I've done quite a few single-sittings (not really single-segment, since I save) of RPGs - mainly Final Fantasy - over the past couple months, and to me, the natural evolution of that is into speedrunning. Of course, the hardest thing is actually researching all the tricks when it comes to something like RPGs. Plus I gotta develop those menu reflexes... I'm breaking into other genres as of late, though, so running something in another genre would probably be more than possible. ... once I get better at those games, of course.

If I worked on anything, it'd probably be FFIX, but I doubt I could beat Essentia's time - she's squeezed a lot out of the game. Otherwise... maybe trying to topple the Pokemon run? FF2 has also been an idea of mine, given that there's no run of it on the site (currently). Funnily enough, it wasn't the RPG runs that got me into the idea of running - it was Symphony of the Night. Though I doubt I could squeeze anymore time out of the game than there already has, save seconds (and that takes perfection, something that almost never happens single-segment).

Outside of gaming, I'm a fourth-year university student studying to go to graduate school in research/experimental psychology. I'm also a Media Studies major so I watch a lot of movies/TV shows, mainly science fiction (since that's high-and-above my favorite genre). I also have a blog that I update a little less often than I should, plus I stream on occasion. Other than that... I'm kinda reclusive and shy outside the Internet, so I usually keep to myself. Hope to have fun here and learn stuff!

Oh, and yes, I do love Scott Pilgrim. Why do you ask? :')
Greetings everyone.  I'm a newcomer to SDA but I've done a bit of lurking and stream-watching the last couple months, as well as slowly re-introducing myself back to the consoles I grew up with after watching what goes on here.

I got introduced to watching streamed runs through Josh the Funkdoc's stream, since some other guys I know from IRC pointed me in his direction.  Since then I've been watching several others' streams whenever I get a chance and getting an idea about the running process, and occasionally being entertained by the skill some of these people have.

I've never taken a stab at running a game myself but I have a couple ideas floating around in my head.  It's a matter of picking one I think I can start learning without getting too impatient or distracted early on, then just chipping away at that one until I end up with something I'm happy with.  I'd like to say on the basis of my gaming background I've always had more of a leaning towards obscure NES/SNES titles, which I've found out is not exactly a unique quality around here.

Anyways, that's about it for now.  Looking forward to contribute to the SDA community in some fashion eventually.
intranational speedmoseyer ordinaire
Hello world!  My interest in speedrunning has been on the rise lately, especially since the {{C,A}G,JR}DQ marathons, so I figured I may as well join here and try to be a part of the community  Smiley
I grew up on Mario, Sonic, and Zelda, so naturally I enjoy watching runs from those series, and I'm hoping to eventually get good enough to run them decently myself.  Lately I've been focusing on Braid, Portal 2, and Rayman.
NEIN NEIN NEIN
Heyo, name's Matthew (just Matt is fine)! Been a long time lurker/watcher, ever since Metroid Prime's first runs. I've recently decided to man up and join the servers to see what all the fuss was about, and to maybe help out others with route info on games I like. I'm not much of a speedrunner, but I'm capable of doing it, which I have proved to myself many times. I can't wait to be apart of the community! Smiley

Also, I'm seriously hoping I haven't posted in this thread yet... XD Pretty sure I haven't.
I first visited SDA on January 2008 i think....(Not Sure). My friends call me Smigul because they think i look like him or it...anywhere.I mostly watch speedruns on the archive....mostly on PS2 because i own one myself...I hope the admins will keep this page online forever...Now I visit SDA everytime....everyday... !!!!
I'm Scott, I've been playing video games since I was about three years old. I've been visiting the SDA for a long time. I've been watching parts of the AGDQ marathon, and it's pretty cool what you guys do. I've been LPing various games over the last couple of years and am in the process of playing Shining the Holy Ark for the Sega Saturn. Keep up the awesome work, guys.
The reapers are coming!
I'm Xavier. I have been playing games ever since the age old Atari 5200 and have loved gaming ever since. I've been visiting SDA for about 4-5 years but never thought of speed running a game myself mostly due to a lack of confidence in myself. But now I really want to try and get a run submitted for Mass Effect. I've been waiting for one to be made and it still is not on the SDA site so I thought to myself "why not just do a run myself". So I hope to have a run on here soon and start making my own contributions. I just need a DVD recorder and then I can actually start haha. I love a lot of the runs on the site already. I've watched both marathons in the past 2 years with class games done quick and awesome games done quick. I also hope to join the next marathon if I can get this Mass Effect run going and make it a good run to watch for all SDA members!
Kirby 4 life
Sorry for not doing this sooner but I'm kirbyfan9000.  You might know me as sonicmaster5000 on ustream/justin.tv.  I enjoyed gaming throughout my life.  I mainly started to get interested in SDA after a fellow smash friend show me one of your marathons.  I enjoyed it and started to watch some of my favorite games ran quickly.  As you might tell eventually I am into Kirby a lot.  As a matter of fact I might be interested in doing some speed running of Kirby's Epic Yarn lol.  I know the gameplay is a bit on the easy side and you can't technically die in the game but idc.  I will probably be on Ustream doing test runs Tusesdays, Thursdays, and weekends during the summer except for the day of E3 and the summer marathon.  More details in a future post.

I'm Soupy.  I learned my ABC's on an Atari 400.  The Gyruss version of Johann Sebastian Bach's Toccata & Fugue explains why I am who I am.  Being a Genesis kid explains why I like what I like.  Perpetually being player 2 explains why I do what I do.  I want to say I found SDA in 2006, but I didn't start visiting regularly until probably 2008.

Awesome! I'm already running Epic Yarn myself, and I know that justingroton is too, or was at least... SirVG, WakkaWalrus, and neskamikaze all ran it too, but as far as I know are no longer interested. You should come join #speedrunslive on the IRC network and race us! Also, check out this thread, which I have neglected to update in a looong time: http://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/kirbys_epic_yarn_any_ss_kamikazied___14939_55.html
Give me money or I shoot you in face
Hey guys. I'm TheLongshotLegend, also known as Smithy. I originally used SDA briefly a while back after spotting Webnations on youtube who posted all of the SDA tool assisted runs which were by all accounts very impressive, so I went in search of more, and after seeing all the realtimes on the games list, I felt it more than necessary to try and contribute. At the time I admit I did put up a very sloppy Alpha Protocol run, without too much thinking it through. Needless to say, that got rejected quite swifted.

But I didnt log on for a long time because I had quite a lot of things going on in my life, bereathment time, exams, craploads of A-Level work to do, as well as my job as a novelist, so I didnt really have much time to do much running. However I have things down to a manageable level and will be finishing my exams next week, meaning I will be getting my running shoes on for good this time. I've already done one in the last couple of weeks and a bit and now I am gonna run the crap out of any titles I got for my 360, and I really hope I can some up. It'll be nice to contribute to the community.

I do have quite a few hobbies outside of SDA and school, like I mentioned I'm a novelist, who writes science fiction as my main genre, which I find rather cool, got one manuscript already completed and I am already planning a pretty awesome sequel. If you really are curious, I'm always on the inbox to reply to anything like that or such. I'm a pretty avid gamer though, and I work out at the gym three times a week. I was always told I was a bit skinny so I thought I'd try and fill out a bit, which I'd like to say I'm doing rather well at. Besides from my very strong distrust of some people, I do get along with anyone. I go on that basis on mutual respect, as I'm sure many do, and I believe it will be a pleasure to meet and get to know everyone here.

SDA tool assisted runs

Does not compute. SDA is real time runs. tasvideos.org is tool assisted.

and since i never introduced myself in this thread: Hi im dballin. Professional Marathon Donator and Party Crasher. I like speedruns cuz they are SUPER COOL and the people who make them are ever superer cooler!!! ilu guyz <3
G'day all, I'm The Eupho Guy (or Eupho for short). I'm an amateur brass musician from South Australia. I first heard of SDA earlier this year, when one of my mates directed me to the Awesome Games Done Quick marathon. I generally tend to play either Real Time or Turn Based Strategy games on PC, or JRPGs and SRPGs (like Disgaea) on PS2 or PS3.
Waiting hurts my soul...

Didn't someone say to Webnations that people would mistake the SDA runs for TAS' if he put them on the same channel? I guess this is evidence to that.
Hey I'm Chiptune. I came here because I enjoyed watching all the TSA's on the site(haha). Anyways if anybody reads this welcome thread then hello, nice to meet you. Smiley
hi chiptune which of the three discs in alex mauer's 'eat people 123' compilation is the best
The 2nd is actually my favorite; to me it seems very transcendent, and meditative. But disc one has a richer classic and retro feel to it, like something from an action NES game with a good soundtrack. You can listen to all three discs in a row though since the songs move so quick, and sound so distinctively Mauer's.
Hey, I'm Lance and I am currently working on a Crash Tag Team Racing any% speedrun. I've been watching speedruns on SDA for about 1-2 years now and I just thought it would be cool to get a speedrun on here for all to see. So there's my story and hopfully I'll have my first speedrun complete before 2012.

Hopefully these will tie you over until I do an updated speed run at some point in the future:

Why does this keep happening to me?
I'm KGeeB (not noticing it could be a good ol' pun on KGB, eh eh? wink wink, nudge nudge? didn't think so?)  I dont really do much running myself for videos, I never got into recording - never got cap cards or the likes and noddy doddies, but I used to run a bit for fun on my old PS1 titles a long time ago, so seeing a site that ran, and still run my favourite games in the past? no brainer there, couldn't resist Wink
Strawberry Cross FTW <3
