Never Stop Gaming
My name is Luke, I have been interested in Speed runs and SDA for a little while now, and have finally decided to join. I think I'll have lots of fun here and everyone sounds really nice! I am new to speed running, and don't expect to break any records for a long time, but it'll be fun sharing my attempts with you all Smiley I play mostly ARPGs, with a little growth in FPS games (Borderlands 2).

My favorite game series are Jak and Zelda. So you'll probably see me attempt those some time in the future. My current run plans are Spider-Man (2000) and Spider-Man 2, as well as Luigi's Mansion and Jak and Daxter.

I have a Youtube channel as well (same as my SDA name) where I do Let's Plays (game walkthroughs with commmentary), online battles, and video edits (AMVs/GMVs)

I am still in school, but I plan to Major in Astronomy soon, and while doing that, try to get a job in gaming.

I hope to meet you all soon Smiley

Hello, my name is Anthony.

I don't often join communities due to not necessarily keeping full interest in a product. (although I won't ever not like them)
Speedrunning however managed to somehow subconsciously keep me coming back, improving my own personal times and looking at everyone else's runs to better myself.
About me though, I'm an artist who doesn't have much in his portfolio to show off with, and usually lurks around in a bunch of different places. The Video game series most prominent to me is Sonic the Hedgehog, but most of my favorite games tend to be mostly associated with products from Nintendo. (Such as the MOTHER series, Smash, Phoenix Wright, Mario RPGs, and outside Nintendo examples are like Psychonauts, 5th generation Sony, etc)
I absolutely love things with interesting Story-Telling and Character interaction and find analysis fascinating, (the same mindset applies when applying speedrunning logic to games), western series such as Doctor Who and the Avatar series, or eastern series from many different anime made my interests what they are today.

As for speedrunning, I've always been somewhat competitive when it comes to showing off what I know about a game, it fascinates me considering I can get more of a game than intentionally thought of, and it helps to me specifically who barely ever gets a chance to play new games anymore.

And it was someone named Kakipi1000 who sealed the deal in my interest since then.
Ever since I ran into Kakipi, I started avidly following more Sonic speedruns and runners, then moving on to TASes which showed me other games being ran. Which eventually got me to SRL and here by conjunction. Tongue
And although I still am learning many different games (with not that much to show off in terms of progress besides owning the world record of a few Sonic ILs and Full-Game Sonic Unleashed which is horribly unoptimized) my will to come back to the community just to learn a bunch of tricks to my childhood games has yet to die down.

Long post aside, it's nice dedicating myself to what seems to be a very great community, and I hope to get to know you all soon! Smiley
Hey guys, name's Matt. recently got into watching speed runs through the SDA youtube and decided to get on the forum. Not expecting to break any records but do want to get to a point where I am having fun trying to break my own pb's etc.

I enjoy many game series both past and present. Thinking about running various pokemon titles but am also looking forward to discovering other awesome series that I might potentially run in the future as deciding between them is very difficult.
Have no current plans for specific runs, just plan on hanging about on the forums and absorbing info like a sponge before I decide on a title to run.

looking forward to meeting everyone and all the best with everyone's runs Smiley
Hello, my name is Bob.

Came here because I plan on doing a speedrun on Rayman 2 (PC). Been lurking for a couple of days doing some research, and assumed it would benefit me to make an account here to contribute. I'm just gonna start with any% and hopefully be able to move up to a 100% run. That's the goal anyway, we'll see how it goes :P.

My favorite kind of games are multiplayer FPS and racing games, whether it be arcade, kart, or simulation. My main platform for gaming is PC, although I'm not picky on what I game on. If I find it fun, I'll play it. Recently (aside from my planned speedrun) I've been learning the ropes to CS:GO and have a goal of one day getting out of Nova into Master Guardian. Floating between Nova I and II so I have a ways to go...

Also been getting into livetreams, hence the re-discovery of the speedrunning comunity. Since my internet is bogus, streaming simple singleplayer games on the PC seems like my only hope in a somewhat quality stream :S. But with places like Speed Runs Live I think I'll get over it and still find a good use to stream.

Apologies for the kind of spotty introduction, if you have any more questions about me please don't hesitate to ask.

Hello SDA community.

My name's Dave, and I just joined SDA about a week ago. I've been a huge fan of the speed running community for a few years now, but now that I finally got some free time and extra cash, I would like to partake in some speed running! I really want to run through an old favorite sega game of mine called Gunstar Heroes. On SDA I've only seen one submitted expert run of the game and I would like to add to that, partly because it is one of the best games for the genesis (in my opinion), and one of my favorites of all time.

I hope to get to know everyone a lot better and... well... uh... rock and roll.

Why hello there.
Yves' the name, 19 years old and my interest in speedruns has been piqued in like the last 2 months because a good friend of mine showed me some YouTube runs off AGDQ etc. Since then I'm often watching streams.
I've tried my hands on speedrunning myself which works fine (CTR) but my PC is sadly too weak to stream properly.
Hopefully I can get in contact with as much people as possible.
Hello all,

I'm Theo, 31 years old from The Netherlands. Been watching speedrunning and sda for a long time going back to 2006 or something? and later of course the marathons, didn't miss a game unless I had to sleep lol. I got interested in running myself after when on Twitch in the beginning of this year Caracarn and Bizkit did a lot of FF8 runs, one of my favorite games. Since then I've been practicing a lot and learning some other games too, also streamed some times earlier this year but hadn't much lately.

Wish you all the best with what you do.
Hello.  I just decided to change my username here on the forum, and make a proper introduction.  I am WingedKitsune, but my real name is Joe if that's what you prefer.  I am also WingedKitsune on TwitchTV where I stream and run the newest Aliens Vs. Predator game that was released a couple years ago.  At this current time, I only run the Xenomorph campaign, but I want to start running the Marine and Predator campaigns as well at some point.  I was registered here on the forum under my previous name, Kitsune, for geez, seems like at least 8 years.  I just decided to start speedrunning this game a couple of days ago after having installed OBS for about a week.  About the only game types I don't really care for, are Fighting games and Point & Click Adventures, but other than that, I will play just about anything.

There really isn't anything special about me.  I was merely a casual gamer up until a few days ago when I started running AvP.  I help my mother take care of my permanently disabled older sister, who is 33 years old, was born with Cerebral Palsy, then had several seizures when she was an baby leaving her with severe brain damage.  She functions as a 3 month old, and is total care which is why I can never leave home for an extended period of time, and my mother cannot take care of her by herself anymore.

That's about all I can think of to say about me and my life.  Anyway, nice to meet you all.
Greetings all!  I'm Dria and I've only just learned that people do this sort of thing for fun and/or good causes.  I stumbled across go1den's Super Mario World Run at SGDQ 2013 on youtube a few weeks back and decided to start watching and studying up to see if I could join in the fun.  I just finished watching MexiricanBassMonkey's Pokemon Leaf Green Run at SGDQ 2013 and I think I'm in love!  With the game I mean... not that MBM's not a cutie and all.  I'm going to start studying how Pokemon runs work and then join in on the good times!

I've enjoyed gaming most of my life.  Final Fantasy VII was my first and greatest video game love when I was twelve or so.  I've dabbled in many games on many different systems since then, and I won't bore you with the details.  I'm really looking forward to speedrunning games as a new challenge for me.

Looking forward to getting to know you all better and can't wait for AGDQ 2014!
Hi all,

I am ChaiN. I hope with some help I'll be running Dark Castle for the old B&W Macintosh.

..
Hey I'm Chris.

Watched dozens of AGDQ marathon videos and found out the 2014 marathon is going to be in DC. I'm going to try to make it out to the 2014 AGDQ and take part of this great community. I look forward to exploring this forum instead of reading the YouTube comments.

cheers!
My name is Christina. I've been lurking the speedrunning community for a bit, and have been enjoying every minute of it. Not sure if I'd make a decent speedrunner myself, but I'm more than likely going to give it a try sometime. Until then, I made this account to lurk the community a bit.

Like you can see next to my avatar I am Valegator, but most of my friends call me Vale. The first game I've speed runned was Tag: The Power of Paint in 2009. Ever since that I've been trying to play through every game as fast as I can. Favorite games: Kingdom Hearts, Shadow of The Colossus, Breath of Fire, Sonic, Serious Sam and few other games. The reason why I decided to join SDA is cause I have no friends and I want to make some... Oh and I also wanted to post speed run or something like that. I own PS2(it plays pirated games embarassed I got it like that), PSP GO(witch is broken), PS1(in peaces), PC and most importantly a Fridge. I also enjoy movie making/video editing. All of the runs that I would post on the SDA would be recorded with AVerMedia Live Gamer Portable in 720p unless game doesn't support 720p(most of older gen consoles.) Here is sample of my recording:

Hey, I've put up a few posts elsewhere, and I should probably introduce myself.  I've been watching speedrunners on Twitch ever since the 2013 C4L marathon, and I've recently decided to take a shot at some speedrunning myself.  Since I'm partly crazy, my first goal is to route and run FFXIII 100% (platinum trophy) in 20 hours or less.  If that doesn't break me, I may move on to other games.
Hey everyone, my name's richard and after seeing a couple of the events on youtube that the SDA ran for doctors without borders and the prevent cancer foundation, I decided I wanted to get that good at it. See, just a couple years ago, I lost my dad to colon cancer when he was only 46. The things you guys do in terms of the money you raise and the causes you put it toward is amazing, and I want to try to get that good at it. Which raises the question of how does one get into it? I imagine it takes huge amounts of practice, along with speed runs of entertaining games.
Hello SDA folks. Broomstick69420666 here... I have been watching speedruns for a long time on youtube and finally discovered SDA and SRL in October of last year. I love to watch all sorts of games, but I'd have to say that it was people like Spikevegeta, Controllerhead, Werster, Kakusho and Shadowjacky that got me in to this whole scene. I hope to be trying Mega Man 2 in the next couple weeks and various PC games. You can find me at twitch.tv/broomstick69420666. Best of luck to everyone and I look forward to finally stop lurking and start posting. Dogspeed
Hey guys, mute here!
After watching AGDQ & SGDQ, and checking in on SpeedRunsLive daily, I think its time for me to get involved in this community.
I have dabbled in TAS runs, finding glitches, and general rom hacking.
see you guys around

Hey, my name is BarnesBoar from UK. Long time fan, first time registered! I do like to play games as fast as possible, but I suck compared to a lot of times out there ;). I still enjoy doing it though, and it's nice to see a lot of people are the same as me. I get so frustrated when I mess up halfway through a run, so I have to congratulate a lot of you on your composure and patience! I will hopefully blend into the community and gain tips and advice to improve myself.

Might sound strange, but I don't know what to run right now! I'm thinking something like Crash Bandicoot. Short-ish game that I love to play. Start with something I love to do right?!

Anyway - see you all in the Battlefield, fiends!
Hello, I go by ChrisLBC and am a new member of the speedrunning community since February 2013. I speedrun mainly Spyro the Dragon right now going for record attempts in 120% and any%. I plan on submitting my runs when I finally have one I'm proud of having uploaded. Games I plan to run in the future include: SM64, OoT, Banjo Kazooie, Crash Bandicoot 2, Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

I like to go by Chris in my stream, I stream nearly all day on weekends and on the weekdays after work in the afternoon. I'm from Canada, enjoy snowboarding and take interest in programming languages (web and software development); and of course my main hobby now is speedrunning video games :).
