Hello everyone! I am extremely new to speed running, while I have seen many runs of various games. I haven't attempted and runs myself until recently, where I have been trying Metroid: Zero mission. The reason I have grown interested in speed running is the recent SGDQ. I plan on doing Metroid: Zero mission and Darksouls. Thanks for having me and best of luck to everyone. Cheesy

Wassup, My name is Ash. Been a long time fan of speed runs but never really thought about joining a community. Finally built up the balls to do it though. Mainly a Crash Bandicoot fan but do branch off into other games such as Donkey Kong and even Halo!. Hope to have some great times with this

Hey all,

I'm General F***ery. I have been watching speedruns for a long time now, but I've never had a go at trying it out. SGDQ had me enthralled, so I've decided to try my hand at this.

I haven't decided on a game yet, but my initial thoughts are Bastion, Cave Story+, Diablo 2 or Hotline Miami. Just spent too much money on the Steam Summer Sale, so I also have a backlog of games which may be fun to try and speed run too.

Looking forward to trying something new and becoming part of this awesome community Grin

YO, I'm Kyle and I'm usually a game developer but I kinda want to speed run something, but I'm not sure what yet.  Been following the community since people started running on Twitch, and the TAS community before that.  I briefly ran an indie game called Lyle in Cube Sector which is pretty fun.  I also made a game called Offspring Fling that a couple of people have done runs of which is pretty dang cool I think.

See you around! <3
Fast Runs with Tiny Legs
I'm Corgian. I'm 20 years old, and I've played video games for as long as I can remember. Much of who I am today originates from the games I played growing up. I learned to read because of Pokémon Red and Blue; I found an interest in music because of OoT and MM. I learned to manage my finances and invest in things that matter because of various JRPGs. Overall, videogames have been a positive influence in my life, and I'll continue being involved in the gaming community as it progresses. I plan to pursue a career in Biomedical Engineering, and perhaps develop technology that will allow people to "reset" their lives after tragedies that left them unable to live their lives to the fullest of their potentials.

I first got interested in the speed-running community in the beginning of 2013 from watching Cosmo's AGDQ 2012 OoT run on YouTube. I was blown away, and began watching every video from the SDA archives that I could, as the thrill from it was something I couldn't quite describe—almost the kind of joy that playing these games as a kid gave me. I finally started speed-running myself a little while back in early July with Majora's Mask Any% after watching Ennops grind out a 7 day marathon of it. It's difficult, but not too hard that it's discouraged me from pursuing my first complete run. For fun, I've also started running Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex for the PS2 at the bequest of my friend. It's an extremely entertaining game that is seemingly built for speed-running. As I play these games more, I might eventually start streaming, and get further involved with the community; for now though, I'm just happy to be able to say myself, "That run was horrible."
I'm no1dead, and I just found your communtity and the SGDQ2013 and I pretty much watched the whole stream and I am right now thinking about running 007 Agent Under Fire, and I gotta say what you guys do is awesome.
Hey guys, specone here. I've been speedrunning for about 8 months, focusing on Banjo-Kazooie and Paper Mario. I've mostly been involved in the SRL community but decided to finally join the SDA forums after realizing how awesome all you guys are from SGDQ. Hoping to become a part of this community too and attending the next marathon! <3
Hey everyone, I'm thewertle.

Like many other new users here I'm sure, I decided I'd join this community after watching the recent AGDQ and SGDQ 2013.  The impression that I've been given from the marathons is that this is a very welcoming community where people are generally excellent to each other.  I'd love to be a part of that.

Presently I don't have any games that I run, but I have a lot of ideas about where I'd like to start.  I imagine I will mostly run games casually just to surpass my own personal goals but who knows, I could end up finding a game I really excel at.

I recently got a pretty nice tv set up for my SNES and I think I'm gong to start practicing DKC3 to see how horribly I'll compare to the current records posted here.

I've also been semi-jokingly toying with the idea of doing a speedrun for King's Quest 8 since I recently dusted that game off to play and realized there's a lot of potential in running a game where your character do a running jump that can clear the side of a house.
Hi friends! I just started really getting into speed running games. There's something about the routing and the science behind playing a game uber-fast. Hope maybe I'll end up with a speed run on the site. I'm just finishing up routing Galerians and I'm probably going to be doing the actual run next week. Figured if I'm going to run anything I might as well get on the forums.

Yo, Andrew here! Long time fan of speed running (if 2 years counts as a long time) but I only recently decided to join. I'm 18 and I live in McHenry, Illinois, and I hope to become a somewhat famous speed runner (being able to speed run at a GDQ marathon is one of my bucket list goals). The first game I ever started speed running was Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland on the GBA, and my current obsession for speed running is Kirby's Dream Land 3 and the Twisted Metal series.

Umm... That's about it, if you want to add me, my handles are as follows:

PSN - Illuvial
XBL Gamertag - MGSPhantom
Skype - MGSPhantom
Steam - MGSPhantomV2

Hello all, I'm Malachyte (pronounced mal-uh-kite, or just Mal). I've vaguely known of the speed running/SDA community for a few years, but never given it much thought until the beginning of SGDQ2013. Sometimes I'd catch the streams over someone's shoulder on their laptop, but this was the first time I sat down and really watched it. More than anything, I found myself thinking, "I want to be in that room." Everyone is having such a sweet, awesome time just playing/breaking video games together, and I want to contribute and be part of that. Even from home I was in tears with laughter at some of the events that happened.

I admit I really don't know much about speed running, but I'm dying to give it a try, and have been reading a lot of guides to gear up for it. I'd like to try running Chantelise on PC as my first attempt. It's straightforward, easy to get into, and I've already completed it once, so why not? I'm really aiming high, but I'm looking forward to showing up at SGDQ2014 and giving my best.

About me: I'm a college graduate, majored in Japanese Language and Culture, and just breaking into the freelance translation industry. I consider myself an artist, and supplement my income by selling art on the side at times. I'm in the USA, and planning to move to MA at the end of the month. My favorite monsters are slimes, especially the ones from DragonQuest/Warrior. They just make me happy inside. Oh yeah, and I've been into video games since I was born, pretty much. The PS1, N63, and PS2 have pretty much every game in my favorites category (Legend of Mana, Zelda OoT, Persona 3, Klonoa, and UmJammer Lammy to name a few).

I haven't done any streaming yet, but I will be doing so for the first time a few days from now. My channel is http://www.twitch.tv/malachyte if you're interested in watching me do horribly at Chantelise.

Hey all, this is Cyrax. I come from another gaming community called ScrewAttack, mostly popular for its entertainment content like "Death Battle!" and "Video Game Vault." I moderate over there, but everyone usually gets along so I take the time to blog and practice some speed running.

Watching the YouTube AGDQs on SDA's channel and watching SGDQ this past weekend kickstarted my interest in speed running games. I'm currently practicing DuckTales, Dust: An Elysian Tail, Mass Effect 1 and 2 for the PC, and Mortal Kombat 1. I know the fighting genre doesn't really have a definitive "end," but I consider MK1 an exception, possibly MK2 and UMK3, because there isn't a whole lot to the game like unlockables, which comes later in the franchise. I have backup games just in case MK doesn't count for speed running. Smiley

I'll be hanging around the casual subforum more often since I'm pretty new to this. If you're interested, check out my Twitch channel: http://www.twitch.tv/dttcyrax/ (not all content will be speed runs)

About me: I'm a broadcasting graduate getting into "moonlighting," which means I hold down a "real job" (whatever that means) while I chase my "dream job" in freelance writing. I'm sure there are some games I won't speed run ever (Super Mario 64, Zelda: OoT) mostly because I just want to take it easy on some games. Breathe a bit, y'know? But, as I said, there are some titles I am really interested in in terms of speed running. See ya around!

If you'd like to get a hold of me, send me a PM!
Hello, I'm samu.

I've been playing video games since before I was in school. Games are Very Important to me.
I've just recently decided to try to get into speed running. Eventually. Whenever I have the money to buy games, systems, and so on.
(being poor sucks)

I'm a student, planning on majoring in physics or some science-y field. Science is great.
I'm also a terrible artist. Can't stop, won't stop.
Greetings. I've finally decided to join this community after discovering it literally a day before SGDQ 2013 while browsing through random youtube videos. I watched the whole marathon except for  the parts where I had to sleep, and man was it quite enjoyable. I'm not much into speed running games, but may get into it in the future. Gotta say that I loved watching Blueglass (AKA YSG) on stream, and I can say that most of the twitch chat did as well.

Thank you for your time, and stay cool.

I'm Mastersparks.
I don't really play games all that much and I'm not very good at them either way, but there are certain games I like very much and have taken an interest in speed running.
The first game I ever speed-ran was Shadow Complex. I managed at one time to get in the top 10 on the XBLA leader boards for completion time, but that was in 2009 with routes and glitches that are no doubt very outdated now.
I've also put interest into speed runnung other games such as Nier and Katamari Damacy, the latter being the reason I created an account here.
I'm Aaron aka Cloud8745. I have been a youtuber for about 7+ years and have always been interested in Speed running and watching others speedrun. Been messing with a few games recently setting my own PB and improving upon it as much as i can without glitches. Then i throw glitched into it. It's a fun way to set a good record of course lol. Atm i only Speed run. Smb 1, 2, 3 and world. Working on some MMX games soon though. I ain't world record material but hey pushing your personal bests is a good place to start.

But as mentioned i always have had huge respect for everyone in the speed running community. Plus seeing all the great work you guys have done over the years with SGDQ and AGDQ really make me proud to be a gamer. Heck it opened my eyes and let me smack myself for some stupid stuff i have done in the past. Long story short though. Thanks for being awesome everyone.

Ehh i own a buncha systems and games so i have a huge backlog of games i need to play through casually as well. But if i enjoy them enough who knows!

If you wish to get in contact with me send me a PM. I will be around every once in awhile.

Hello! My name is Kenneth and I live in Ohio. I've known about SDA for years now but just recently signed up on the forums. I mostly play NES - PS1 era games but I do play a few newer games every so often. Some of my hobbies include talking, graphic design, cooking, and sleeping and I plan on speedrunning Resident Evil 1, 2, and 3 as well as a few other games.

I'm super excited to finally be on the forums and can't wait to meet you all! Smiley  ~kb

Riding the wave of new peoples from the SGDQ 2013 hype!

Just call me Missy or Nikki, I go by both names.  I'm gonna try to learn to speedrun Spelunky HD once it's out along with trying to break The Bureau: XCOM Declassified since it looks pretty fast-paced compared to the older games of the series.  For now, I'm catching up on the runs I missed from this summer's marathon and I hope I find some nice little gems that will motivate me to try to learn new games too.  I hope I'm allowed to attend AGDQ 2014, cause that'd be a blast!

#Manchicken :>
Hey guys! I'm Diogen! Cheesy

I saw SGDQ and that got me excited! I'll be doing speedruns of some childhood favourites of mine.
I'll be running a lot of Humongous Entertainment games ( no joke :p) and some other pc games.
Right now I'm practicing Freddi Fish 5 and Goofy Extreme Skateboarding.
And as a sidenote: These games have been localized in Dutch ( because I live in Belgium) so the voice acting is in Dutch.
I hope I'll get some good times and good luck to everyone! Cheesy

Hello! I've actually been on Speed-Runs Live for awhile and maybe a few people might know me. I am 14 years old and i am probably the youngest person here behind qwerty. Anyways, i speed-run Ocarina of Time like lots of other people so that's not interesting. But i do wish to speed-run Super Mario Sunshine but i do need streaming equipment for me to submit times. Anyways, i will be able to stream Ocarina of Time from my emulator for awhile but until i get a capture card in the future i will definitely work on Super Mario Sunshine. Anyways this seems like a great community and i hope i can be like everyone else and i hope nobody judges me because i am younger. Thank you SDA, SRL, ZSR, and everyone for allowing me to do what i wanted to do for a long time. Thanks and see ya guys on stream!
Hello! I've been following SDA for a while but never bothered making an account. I've also been casually speedrunning for a long time, but I'm intending on getting a bit more competitive. Nice to finally say hello.
