Hello hello! I found out about speedrunning after watching AGDQ 2012 and needless to say im hooked.
The game that i currently run is Hyperzone for the SNES and im 100% positive i can change that world record i see on this site on it Grin im also looking to try speedrunning Super Mario World but thats yet to be seen.

regardless, nice to meet you all and to all a good time ^_^

Welcome, Birdman!  I have a lot of experience with Hyperzone and I can say with 100% certainty that the run on the site can be beaten even with a super sloppy playthrough.  He dies once (maybe twice?) and gets hit extremely frequently.  It's an incredibly easy run to beat.  I just couldn't bring myself to do it.  Good luck!

Id love to see you do a run actually. Id like to see different strats on that game, it would help me on what i should improve on. But regardless when i get around to recording it i will do so xD. Also, Watching you do Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts has been a huge inspiration for me to practice at that game (though im horribly inconsistent lol) and to also re-pick up Act Raiser.

Hi everyone !
I'm Rif-Raf, and I discovered SDA in 2005. I've been watching speedruns since beginning of year 2000 approx, but recently, I followed a french shootcaster called MisterMV who makes a fantastic job commenting speedruns, especially during the AGDQ 13'
Only recently, I wanted to "give it a try" myself on one of my favorite game: Super Punch out ! I'll probably continue with platform games, sur as PC Kid, Sonic 2 or Mario Bros.

Well then, looking forward to Summer Games done Quick Wink

Hey! You should check out this thread to see the current buffer strategies for most of the fights, as well as the single segment run on the site right now. If you need help with anything at all, feel free to post in that thread or shoot me a PM; I'm always happy to see more people playing this game!

Also welcome to all the newcomers to the site! Have fun! Smiley
Get over here!
Hello everyone o/
My name's ShadowDraft and I've recently rediscovered SDA by watching the AGDQ 2013 videos on youtube. I think the first time I came across SDA was around 2005 while looking for half hour half-life. I always loved to watch these speedruns because it requires insane amounts of skill and time dedicated to the game.

As for myself and speedruns .. I'm currently onto Battlefield 3 and maybe Mark of the Ninja for PC.
Looking forward to SGDQ this year and I hope to contribute at least some money to a good cause there.
Excellent!
Funny how I missed this thread the first time, haha. I'm Dangerless. (Same as on Twitch)

I generally hang around SRL and do runs on Wario World and SMB3 (I'm currently just learning Wario Land 4 as well, I want to learn Wario Land 3 too some day). I was working on routing/etc for the PAL version of Luigi's Mansion (because it plays out completely different compared to NTSC versions) but decided to drop it to run other games. I've lurked here until I finally got around to registering.

Hello! I've spent some time bumming around SRL but figured I'd introduce myself here as well. Currently getting into shape to race Ninja Gaiden on the NES and possibly MMX1 at some point.

Welcome, hope to see you in the races soon! If you need some tips there is the Ninja Gaiden wiki which also has links to my video tutorial for running the game.
Hey everyone. I should start off with mentioning that my name comes from a Starcraft 2 inside joke. I discovered SDA after watching AGDQ 2013 and being amazed at the runs. For the past few months I've been watching SpeedRunsLive very often in my free time, and I figured I may as well register over here. Initially I had some fantasy of running a game at AGDQ 201X, and while I have realised how ridiculous that might be I'm looking to start speedrunning a few games. I'm going to be practicing mostly SNES games, hopefully I'll find one I like enough to work on for a while. I used to play the Yugioh TCG competitively for years but since the turn of the year my interest in it started to wane as my interest in SDA/SRL grew. I hope to be a moderately active member of the community.
Let's get sweaty
Well, I suppose I'd better introduce myself. I've been lurking for a few days.
I'm Scott, or GameBreakingGlitch. I currently live in the land of Kilts and Haggis.
I've been interested in speedrunning for a while now, but never got round to doing it.
My biggest achievement (although I don't have any videos, sadly) is that I once got all 3 pendants in ALttP in about 15 minutes.
I hope to get a capture card and record some runs someday, but for now, I need to stick to emulation.

Oh my, well, hello! The name's Megan (although I often go by Ginge on the net). I take my residence in the lovely sate of California. I've been hovering around SDA for about a year now, and finally decided to make an account. I tend to branch into all genres of games, but my current goal is to attempt speedrunning The Hobbit for PS2. That'll probably change, oh well.

Other hobbies include cosplay, geek related crafting, eating, and suffering in college work.

Hey everyone, my name is Chemich.

Just recently started speedrunning / racing games, even though I've been following the SDA/SRL community since 2010. What got me into speedrunning was first viewing Carl Sagan's TAS on Yoshi's Island, regardless of it being a TAS that stuff was pure nuts. Loving the speedrunning community so far, I always try and watch SGDQ, AGDQ, AwfulDGQ, and ESA to support the community more.

Games I'm running:
Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of the Super Heroes
Marble Blast: Gold
Yu-Gi-Oh: Forbidden Memories (Still learning how to run the game, before actually running it.)
Need for Speed: Underground
Tony Hawk's Underground 2
The Unholy War (Campaign)
Killer Instinct

Will be looking into more games later on.

You'll see me on the IRC, or on random speedrunner's channels when they're online (cosmowright, trihex, nageleria, etc...)

Nice to meet everyone. Smiley
Hey guys,

Been a big fan of the speedrunning community for awhile. Ever since I was a kid I have sort of quasi-speedran games (after beating them I'd play them again and try to do it as fast as I could.. I guess you guys call it 'casual speed running.') Watched AGDQ2013 and thought it was awesome... been rewatching it and I figured I'd join the community. I had been casually speedrunning a freeware PC game called Jumper Redux, and I was shocked to find that it is actually here on SDA. When I looked it up, I had just finished a run in 12:01, and I saw that the world record was 11:08.. and I know it is possible to get well below that, so I'm very excited to be trying to beat that, and I hope it generates a bit of interest to make for some additional competition. Anyway... hopefully I'll manage to get that record soon, but for now, nice to join the community, and hiya peoples.

(Props to whoever gets the pun in my name, btw)
YOU DARE NOT.
Figured I should post here, as I'm well overdue.

My name comes from a character in Stephen King's The Dark Tower series (perhaps one of the better right-hand men/villians to ever grace a novel).

I've been around for a long time watching/working on speedruns, and made the first published TAS for Final Fantasy back in 2005.  Recently, I've been getting back into the swing of things, and am going to be working on a single segment run of FF1 for the NES in the next few weeks.

Chances are, you'll find me either in IRC, someone's twitch channel/SRL watching runs I still can't wrap my mind around, or working on my own projects.

Pleasure to be here...hopefully I can give something back to the community worth watching. Grin
What's up guys! I'm Taurinensis and I'm pretty new to this whole speed running thing.

I've been watching SDA speed runs for a long time but I've never actually tried doing it myself.

Recently I thought I'd give it a go though so I've been working on a speed run for They Bleed Pixels but I tend to get side tracked from pacticing with DotA =( lol

Maybe one day I'll be able to post something to the site though =D

Well, I guess I'm not "new" but I just started posting finally today. Smiley My name is Andy and I own a little online community over at The Bottle Crew where we have daily streams from streamers all over the world and we do seasonal marathons for charity called Mariothon, Colorado. I'm very excited for SGDQ...when I heard it was going to be in Colorado, I said "I HAVE TO GO!" Smiley I can't wait to meet all of you wonderful people.

Hope to be able to say hi to you all!

Specialising in spectacular failure
What's up? Thought I should go ahead and sign up for a speedrunning community, and SDA seems to be the best (or only) one. I've been into speedrunning for years but recently picked up speedrunning Quake 2 for fun, at first inviting 4chan's SRG community to watch me (I know I know, 4chan.) I've been having a lot of fun getting bad times, choking and generally being nowhere near the WR.

I look forward to talking to you in the future.
Yo.

So I'm pretty much brand new to this. Though I've seen some old school speed runs of stuff like Mario 3 and some other TAS runs, I've recently seen AGDQ '13 videos and have became very interested in joining this community.

A little about myself: I'm an "old man" gamer. Pushing 30, but I still love to game from any generation. I've been part of the fighting game community for about 10 years now, but have unfortunately never been near the top of my game there. Been basically floating around games looking for my "niche". I could really see myself getting into running and used to challenge myself to see how fast I could finish some games just for fun without realizing there was such a huge community for it. To be honest, I'd probably have to start out slow, though I feel there are a couple games that I could get the hang of quick. Specifically, Contra and maybe Super C (if I could actually get my hands on a copy). But with the next gen shortly on the horizon, I would like to dive in an push new games to new levels right out the door.
Hello. I'm very new here and english isn't my first language, but I'm good at it, so don't worry (but not as good as most of you). I have planned to beat Brossentia's LBP1 single-segment speedrun. I have played LBP1 and 2 maybe 4 years in total. It is a very fun game to play with friends Smiley And I also love glitches! I have some new little tricks planned for my run :))

Hi there ! So, it been long time that i take a look to the streams, finally i come here. I'm 19 an French, living on Brittany. I am a fan of Final Fantasies, almost played every version. That's why i often came on SDA, watching streams of FFs. But today, i want to give a try to speedrunning a Final Fantasy, my very first : The 8, on PS2 version, i taking some notes from the great FFgamer86, thanks to him !
I will try it very soon, after finishing some things : my FF VI advance, FF VII (been a long time that i don't playing it), FF XIV Beta.
It'll be a nice adventure, i feel it like a challenge for a better understanding fo the game, i don't really search to beat a WR, it is more for myself. But on the future, maybe, i'll try to do the perfection, as every FF8 runner, plus, i hear that on the french community, some people are running FF7, FF9, but not the 8, it is an opportunity for me to make me a name.

Except my speedrun & FF passions, i make Youtube Poops, they are stupid & pointless videos of mashup's thing and chaotic glitchs effects. (you can find me on youtube as Sid1325, but it is really special)

I hope that i will achieve my FF8 challenge, met some great peoples here, receive/give advices, watching more streams, and improve my english haha Cheesy
If you want more informations, don't hesitate !
Heyo! I found SDA a month or so before agdq 2013 started and was amazed by the runs posted here aswell as the runs done live during agdq 2013, so i thought "hey maybe you can do that too. you like beeing fast in games and you sure like beeing the fastest, don't you?" (and yes i talk to myself in my head Tongue ) . So I will be trying to be the fastest in  Monster Hunter, because the game is great and it even has an arena where you have to kill the monsters in a certain time to get certain ranks. i'm also a fan of the mario rpg and paper amrio series so maybe i will do something there as well.

I hope some of you share my love for mosnter hunter and can help me by sharing some strats with me and that i one day will sit on that couch during agdq.
Caution: This user contains Kana ^_^
Hello Sir Sid, I do hope you didn't miss out on Crystals for Life this March =3 Anyways, I always enjoy more Final Fantasy running funzies ^__^

And Hi, FreakyNeo; no, I don't think your crazy for talking to yourself in your head. Neither do the other voices in there, except for the one who's humming the Mountain Path theme from FFIX ^__^

Also hi and welcome to everyone else up there, for whom I don't have any personalised greetings ^^
The Wayward Wanderer
Good day, everyone, I am Keypaladin.  I've been around sense AGDQ 2012 and I've finally decided to make an account.
I don't post a lot, and I'm kinda quiet, but I am planning to get into running a variety of games, for instance:  Equinox, Lagoon and various YS games.

And with that, 'til we meet again on the paths of life.  ^__^
^ MFW A RUN GOES WRONG
A warm hello to all you fine runners, I'd insert a Zone of the Enders reference in there but it'd be too corny.

I go by the moniker of 'Tomcat' (yes, the F-14) online, and it must be no surprise to you when I say that I'm one of the more avid (read: 'obsessive') Ace Combat fans you'll find. I've been a gamer at heart for about three-quarters of my life thus far (I'm 23), and despite coming across SDA numerous times in the past I never thought to sign up to the forum. Well...seeing highlights and specific single-seg runs from AGDQ 2013 on YouTube piqued my interest further. Firstly the sense of communion looks great, and secondly it's all for great causes, which I highly respect.

Now, if only I could find a marathon in the UK...

Anyway, being an AC fan I've naturally been checking out 'Sir VG's numerous sing-seg runs. Maybe if I have the time and balls in the future, I might want to try some runs of my own. That doesn't mean to say I only play AC, there are a few games that I've seen missing from the lists that I'd love to try and make a first recorded run of.

In my spare time I often make videos for my own YouTube channel which is mostly for gaming purposes, but work and other commitments have ground me to a halt recently. While I do have the equipment to record, I just need to ask some more questions before getting into anything.

I'll wrap it up now before I bore y'all to sleep, so I'll just say that I hope to have some good experiences while here Smiley
Hello everyone, I'm SonicChaos.  I'm a fairly new speedrunner, having only started to practice runs a couple months ago, although I've been watching speedruns for much longer than that.  At the moment I'm mainly running Pokemon Blue and Magicka (the latter of which I haven't seen on the site so I might be submitting a run on that once I have one I'm fairly proud of), and I've also been learning to run the original Metroid Prime.

I also kind of want to see if a speedrun on the Mass Effect games would be viable, although I love those games so much it would pain me to purposely skip stuff in them.

Outside of speedrunning, I'm also the commissioner for a Grifball (think football in Halo) league, head streamer for the same league, and a fairly new Youtube commentator and electronic musician.

Looking forwards to being a part of this community, hopefully I'll be able to share some of my runs with all of you soon.
Carpe Diem
Hello to all.

I've been a big fan of the speed running community for a long time now, and I want to finally get into it.
I have a big collection of Genesis games and I want to try to speed run one of them.

I just have one question.

What would be the best/most recommended way to record? (I'm pretty new to this stuff)
Get over here!
Hello zeHare. You should head over to the knowledge base. https://kb.speeddemosarchive.com/Recording <- there's a few things you can learn there about recording if you've never done it before. I'd also recommend you to join the IRC chat. If you get confused you can always ask there.
Hello everybody.

I'm Drfaust and I came across this awesome site about a year ago.
That's when I started speedrunning (never had the idea to do something like this with a game before).
I speedrun Mega Man X4 and plan to add Castlevania:SOTN in the future (downloaded it only a week ago).
Over the last weeks I collected all the stuff to record my attempts and in three weeks I will be ready to start with my first run of Mega Man X4.
