Speed Runner
Welcome to SDA!!! Cheesy
Never give up!
Not entirely sure I should worry about posting in this because some of the long-time veterans MAY know who I am, but since I haven't been here in a couple of years (and haven't submitted a run since 2008!) I may as well get to it.

While I'm formally referred to as 'AquaTiger' in run submissions, I would rather go by either Alex or Frosty on the forums.  27 years old, and I will just say I'm from the US because my state of residence is likely to change in a couple of months.  The reason is that I'm graduating from college again, this time with an MBA.  Due to that, my participation will be somewhat limited for the next month, as I need to focus all efforts on getting that done - but rest assured that I will be doing at least a few runs after that point.  Even after that, however, my role will probably be diminished compared to last time, as I'm also trying to be a Let's Player - specifically, one of the more formalized types of LPer.  (I'd dare say speedrunning is exponentially more difficult than LPing.)

My return time was going to be pushed back until I actually graduated from college again, but I turned out early because one of my oldest runs got obsoleted very recently.  I won't be challenging for that record (I got kind of fed up with Mortal Kombat Mythologies myself), but there are a few of my older records I realize I need to clean up.  In addition, I need to deal with at least a few unfinished pieces of business (namely Chain of Memories)....

Now this is going to being interesting. I was always hoping you would return, Frosty. There's been a lot of work done on the game and I could definitely use some competition. Welcome back Smiley
I AM FUCKED ANGRY
You was never lost in my memory Alex. Speed Junkie forever. Wink
Greetings people... Name's VenTheGale, you can call me Ven, VTG... hell, call me anything really.

In any case, my games of choice are JRPGs and Fighting Games. I don't know of many fighting games you can speedrun, and JRPGs seem to be less broken than most other games out there, but would anyone be up for giving me a suggestion of a good game for me to speedrun first to get into the mentality of goin' fast?
Pretty new to speedrunning.
Well, pretty new here, same for speedrunning. I'm planning on getting myself a capture card and running Skate 3. I'm also interested in running Wind Waker, Dark Souls and possibly some other games.

Other stuff: I'm from Belgium, I'm a musician and a student. If there's anything else, feel free to ask :3
Relatively long time lurker here, been lurkin since AGDQ 2011 but since I'm not a huge forum person, I enjoy reading posts more than posting itself, I haven't made account until this day. Not so new to speedrunning since I'm a huge fan of Quake series, and especially Quake 1 which I still play quite a lot. Currently running/racing mostly Portal 1 and 2 + Quake 1 from time to time, also just recently I've started practicing MGS1 speedruns.
Hello everyone. Vorsch here, 24 years old speedrunner from France.

I've been speedrunning, basically since I started gaming. In the case of my first game boy, I had a sheet of paper, on which I tracked my best scores and times on every game that I played. I've been lurking on various speedrunning communities since 2000. I ran semi-casually on Metroid Fusion, on some Castlevania, on a lot of Mario Kart titles, and I went for above average scores on every game that I really liked.

Recently, I have started running more seriously. My main game is Donkey Kong 94, and I currently hold most of the IL records for it. I'll be working towards submittings videos for those ILs on the near future.

Hello SDA World!

I am Matthias, 21 years old, german speedrunner at the start of his carreer :). I started to speedrun Secret of Evermore, as i was impressed by Lemonsx and MetaSigma. I started speedrunnin about 2 month ago, inspired by a lot of famous speedrunner on twitch.tv . Actually i plan to cut down Secre ot Evermore a bit more, then start OoT, Zelda:ALTP and maybe some others i feel comfortable with the rest.

I like beeing part of a great community like SDA, cause you did great job with C4L and other marathons.
I'm Daodify from Sweden and i joined SDA today April. Never done a speedrun in my life, got into it through watching AGDQ, Cosmo, Siglemic. The game that i am currently working on is ristar since it's one of my all time favourite game and i got inspired by Breakdowns ristar run. Right now im just doing practise on emulator as soon as i get a capture card i will start doing actual runs.
Hello to you, all you beautiful people,

My name is Cory Box, I am 21 and have been checking speeddemosarchive.com practically everyday for the last several years. Everytime there is an update I'm excited to see others constantly beating the already impressive times on the already expansive list of games.

I am actually proud to be a gamer after seeing how much money you raised from this years AGDQ.. I bought the FF9 shirt and have gotten many comments from people, and I say "it was from a gaming marathon that raised almost half a million for a prevent cancer foundation!"

Aaaanyway I just joined because I got a copy of SotN for the sega saturn and have always wanted to play/run any% and all boss with Maria. I'm practicing everyday so expect a submission soon!

Good to meet all of you! Hope to actually be a part of the community.

P.S. Anyone want to help me run SotN Maria? X)
Hello all, real name Carlos, but I prefer everyone call me NeS. I am 34 years old been a long time gamer, started off playing games since the Intellevision was released just dying out and Nintendo had just popped on the scene. I have had a small share of my own speed runs but nothing really special nor recorded as of yet.  I mostly play a ton of RPG's and some FPS games... well mostly just Unreal, Unreal Tournament and Goldeneye when I need a fix. This is actually my first time here at SDA but have watched a ton of great runs on the youtube channel and am currently looking for work to donate to the wonderful causes that you guys are doing.
Hello everyone.
Real name Hansol, but I prefer BlackCat (or any variants of it really)
16 years of age, and a small time lurker, I've been a gamer since I was three.
I've been running challenges for a long time such as No Death/No Bombs Touhou.
And after watching AGDQ realized how interesting speed running a game is.

I recently joined this community because I was interested in doing speedruns of a few games such as Eryi's Action and Ninja Senki.
I hope to get along with this community ~
There is no light to save you

Hi everyone Smiley

I am Shox. I'm 21 and just getting into speed running after seeing some friends get into it. I used to play Starcraft Brood War and loved the competition and the thrill of winning and learning from mistakes. Honesty, speed running seems to demand a lot of the same things that Starcraft does, there's a lot of similarities. Hoping to see if I can put what I learned in Starcraft to good use!
Hi all.
I'm Dpx008 and I got into speedrunning for a little bit more than a year now. I've started watching speedruns from AGDQ on YouTube about Ocarina of Time, and then found the speedrun community on Twitch.tv. I was so interesting that I got in speedrunning myself! Smiley

Speedrunning is really an amazing thing. Race for your personal bests, learn tricks, share with others...

My first language is French, since I'm from Québec - Canada, but my English is actually pretty good.

It's really awesome to be part of this community.
Here's my Twitch.tv page: http://www.twitch.tv/dpx008

Geez, so many new people. Welcome everyone Smiley
Thank you! Smiley
Hello there, I'm Zohma and I have always wanted to do a speedrun. I've known of Speed Demos Archive for years. Finally, I have a speedrun to submit so I thought while I'm at it, I may as well introduce myself to the community. I did a speedrun for Spelunky v1.1. It's being verified right now. No idea if I will be doing more speedruns but I'm thrilled to share it with this community. Seems to be full of some serious hard core gamers.
Hello, I am Loradin. I have seen this community looking over RaneofSotn's shoulder since about 07 or 08? I never really did much speed running myself, just critiqued Rane's or watched him practice them endlessly. But this community seems nice and Rane convinced me that I should give it a shot myself so I am contemplating doing a speed run and posting it up here.

I am 25 years old, went to UF, and like playing tactical games.
Never Afraid To Stop Learning
Hiya!! I'm Demo I just ran across SDA's amazing marathons for Preventing Cancer and couldn't stop watching the runs. I have always loved games and I constantly read news about what is happening. I am not good at speed runs but I just love the gaming conversations and learning the tricks many of you guys use to complete a game or save that extra second. It looks like this community is full of friendly loyal people and hope you will welcome me with open arms. Heres to the chance to make many new friends!

P.S. My mother and father are polish but sadly I don't speak it Cry
raising the stakes on being bad!
Yo!
Hi everyone I have been lurking for a few months after finding the agdq 2012 (which i found only days before agdq 2013 started going up on youtube).
I love watching games with sequence brakes and the like.

Not quite sure what I want to run myself but I love older JRPGs like FF7 and think I might try for a PB at around 10 hours, hopefully not to foolhardy. I also enjoy MMx1-3, Earthbound and other SNES classics, my other passion is Manga which is neither here nor there, but why not right?

As for myself I Go by Sid though I'll respond as long as I know your talking to me, I'm almost 25 and finished collage a year ago, and darn it all if film work isn't hard as heck to get in to so i might do some more schooling in my near future. Hopefully i can open up and enjoy things here because i am predisposed to lurking unless its important.
The reason I joined was because puwexil noted that some games were up for public verification and I wanted to give back.
Also I read the guidelines and rules before posting (which i feel like no one does any more) so who is giving me my reward cookie for following the rules?

Sincerely, one long winded guy
Hi !! I'm oldnickboy, french player, I suscribe on SDA cause I watch speed run and scoring (stream or video) and I would like to start doing speed run (Yoshi's Island !?).

I love retrogaming and the PC's games. What I like in the speed running is the ability to try for to finally succeed ... And I want to succeed ! Tongue

I started watching speed runs with TeamSuperPlay (a team of french speed runner) and other french guys.

Ho and I speak (write) English as we learn in high school and with my meager knowledge so  I'm better at video games than in English ! ^^'

Nice to meet you and I hope to talk you ! Smiley
