hey sounds cool i didnt read through all of the list but I'd like to participate
I could provide some cool stuff in crossfire... multiplayer map I found a way of getting out of the map and I was able to get up on the ceiling and stay up there... after suiciding I could see me body handing in the sky
Hey -think.circle-, good to see you on here. I definately await stuff from you. Some stuff on Multiplayer maps would be pretty cool too. I should check those maps out and see if I can find anything.
satchels: by dropping 2 satchels while looking 90 degrees upwards (actually just 89 as this is the default limit) you can make one float in the air. That can be used to close the shafts in the bunker temporarily (you will need more satchels... in order to use more than 5 satchels you have to drop the trigger and pick more...) Sidenote: If you drop the trigger the satchels wont disappear when you die unless you picked up another satchel. So if you block the shafts and drop the trigger the satchels will stay there for quite a while... there is a timelimit.. maybe an hour or so. Then the satchels disappear.
weapons: This is the weapon-switch glitch... Not that unknown but maybe you dont know about it yet. In order to pull it of you have to take a gauss, fire away all ammo, switch to the crowbar, run towards some gauss-ammo and switch back to the gauss BEFORE you reach the ammo (you should use a binding for the gauss ... "bind somekey weapon_gauss") It also works in multiplayer... the other players will see you fire gauss beams with the crowbar. Its not just client-sided You can also combine other weapons that way. RPG and crowbar for example, but some combinations wont work
fireworks: nothing special... just shows that you can destroy you own AR-grenades while in the air
outoflevel: to get out of the map you have to reach the ceiling while trying to get ontop of one of the two towers. Others spots wont work. You can only get out above the towers. In order to get high enough to reach the ceiling you have to selfgauss. You need 100 100 to survive it. Charge the gauss, duck and fire diagonally through the floor in the backside of one of the ladders.
ceiling: practically the same as outoflevel but this time I go to the other half of the level. Once I'm up there I suicide (with kill command). Then you can see the body in the sky, but you have to jump pretty high to see it. Otherwise its out of the viewable distance
closebunker: just in case you didnt know yet how to close the main door I think those small doors at the sides can be closed the same way. Actually i havent tried it yet
EDIT: I almost forgot: grenades: pick up a grenade, press and hold first mousebutton and then drop the grenades (with the command "drop"). When someone picks it up and selects the grenades, they explode.
ahh, its good to see -think.circle- the old HL runner. those MP tricks are very nice and cool. the trick with holding grenade then drop. when another player takes that "ammo box", it will explode too?

Yes. But he has to switch to the grenades himself unless he is using the crowbar. In that case they are selected automatically. But still you can prevent them from exploding by pressing the left mousebutton I think
Nice tricks, circle. I particularly enjoyed the tauing about and such, that was cool. I liked how you got out of the level with the tau too. I didn't know the tau could do that on multiplayer. I should give some maps a try and see what I can find.
Oh and thanks for v.1.1.1.0 recording
EDIT: Ok, I just got out of Questionable Ethics again. This makes number 3. Basically when I get to the room with the tau, I just hop out those windows there and there we go. The views are really cool out there.
I also explored that enormous freezer, and tricked out in there. It takes away your shields, but your health doesn't go down, so it doesn't really matter. I grenaded myself on top of those huge fat pillar things and just kind of admired the little height
ROFL! I loved demos 10 and 8. The scientists were amazing, I've never done that before, nor would I have ever thought of doing that. Brilliant stuff. I feel a "torturing AI" collection coming on here
As for the other ones, I've been on top of that crane, but I haven't gotten up to it with a long jump, that was clever. For climbing up the crane, I tried doing that awhile ago, and only met with success once. The other times I fell to a very painful death.
And I know nothing of multiplayer maps, you own me there
I know of people putting their signatures all over maps though, with my experience in Counter-Strike, didn't know they were in Half-Life too.
Really great stuff there pocari, I really like this idea. Actually great to see interest in the original still. :)I might have to pull out my copy and give it a go. I take it that you can't get yours registered on Steam, neither can I.
Ah, Steam isn't TOO important. I can still distribute demos all the same. And it'd be good if you joined in, everyone is welcome to submit something
Now for a little update on the trick front..... HOLY SHIT! I found out how to get to the bottom of Surface Tension (the huge mountain side area). I have a demo of me getting down there and exploring (also going underneath the level), but I had god mode on to survive the fall (it's a long way down), so it doesn't count.
But even with god mode on, you still can't reach the bottom of any map that blacks out your screen. Luckily I found a place to fall that cancels this blacking out screen. All I need now is 5 trip mines, and this trick will work for sure.
The views I captured when I was down there were incredible. It's such an enormous amount of free space, it isn't even funny.
Now to get 5 tripmines from residue processing, questionable ethics, and the area before that mountainside.... @_@;
Yeesh, if anyone could help me locate 5 tripmines before that mountainside, that would be good. I think I can find 5 though, but we'll see.
some ordinary stuff you probably already know and some other 17: you missed the obvious point about the barnacle there 24: just to show that what i tried is NOT possible... 25 + 26: i have no idea if this is special in any way 27: imagine some heavy metal music in the background
@chrisGE - I'm pretty sure if you just install Half-Life, you have v.1.1.1.0. You can check for sure when it's in and look at the bottom right corner of the beginning menu just to make sure.
@Dark_Devil - Yeah, I know about impulse 101. It's a handy little cheat But I'm gonna try not to cheat to pull off this trick, because it just wouldn't be as impressive. I'll post my demo of me getting down there with god mode, just so people can see what it's like down there before I do it legitly.
@Bp_ - Well, circle is recording his demos in v.1.1.1.0 for me (which I appreciate), and I'm recording mine in v.1.1.1.0 as well (because it's what I'm limited to), not sure about everyone else.
@-think.circle- - I'm gonna watch your demos right now, and edit with some comments
EDIT: Those were cool. I caught the barnacle bit later though, but it was cool to get up there with a grenade hop anyways
All the stuff in there I've done before though, except demo 32, getting on top of that small light. Lmao, so insignificant, yet so cool
Also, I quickly recorded getting to the bottom of Surface Tension with god mode on just now:
playdemo Bottom02 Once again, v.1.1.1.0, but with no HL Bunny. This is just an example of how it's possible to get to the bottom. In that demo, I didn't show how it's possible to go underneath the level though.... Oh well. That just shows you that it is indeed possible to get down there alive, I just need 5 trip mines to do so. I won't reach the very bottom with 5 trip mines, I just need them to get down a little ways, then fall down. With 100% health, I should land alive.
But seriously now, it's amazing when you actually get down there. The level looks so weird, it's like it's floating. And it's such an enormous range of space too. You can keep walking away from that level for awhile, until you fall into what I call "the groundbox" as opposed to the "skybox." Nice views, nice views
well, try to reach the other side in the room with the green boxes hanging over the huge pit (map c1a1c)... but _without_ touching any of those green boxes and not loosing any health...
but try it, it looks much easier in the demo than it really is. the sliding part is pretty difficult to do well, especially because you have to do it three times.
The majority of that is old news to me, but still, those were amazing demos, a few tricks I've never seen before. I haven't seen the blue robot being pushed by the train, or the glitchy blockade, or dropping down that train elevator shaft, and I haven't seen the half closed door..... ever. That was awesome, I should start using trip mines and satchels more often, because they seem to conjur interesting tricks (if you couldn't tell O_O). I've just had a few interesting trick ideas come to me. Hmm..... I'll post demos of them when I'm finished.
well its really hard to find something you dont know yet. I just wondered what happens if you plant mines on the big blast door at the one of 'on a rail' that opens after you fire the rocket I put some mines on it and dropped some satchels in its way. Result: It stays shut after firing the rocket Oh well not very surprising or entertaining :/
Haha, sorry, I've been exploring this game inside and out for the past 3 months now. But still, there's a lot of things I've missed.
I was testing out tripmines in Questionable Ethics, and there's some entertaining things to do with them. You can block off doors, which isn't that entertaining, but I had thought it was possible to freeze those hornet alien tanks, and freeze that spinning door that lets you out of the facility.
EDIT: I'm gonna start tricking out inside the train in Black Mesa Inbound and see if I can find anything interesting.
EDIT2: OH MY GOD, I just found something incredible in Black Mesa Inbound! I fell out of the train!!! I also stopped the train over 20 times until I actually got to Anomolous Materials. It was so trippy how I fell out of the train. I was just jumping in the back corner, and when the train started going again, I crouch jumped out the back of the train and watched it ride away. I was exploring the area before the helicopter, which is where I fell out. Then when I got down to the actual helicopter, a load screen triggered for some reason, and I was outside the level. Essentially the same thing as Anomolous Materials, I was just stuck inside a big wall.
Also, that huge fence that opens down the level, I got caught behind that. The fence closed on the train..... @_@; The train kept on going mind you, but when it hit me, the train stopped and I was stuck behind this fence.
But what really pissed me off, is that I recorded all these great demos, but they are all glitched out and don't work. It seems you can't record demos in Black Mesa Inbound...... When I get FRAPs, I'll record myself doing all this I guess. I'll try to replicate me jumping out the back of the train, but I dunno, it seemed like a totally random thing to do. INSANELY cool, because I've been trying to do that for ages, but random.
I'm gonna try to fall out of the train at other places and see if it works. Also, I'm gonna stop the train by Barney (the beginning of Blue-Shift) and see what happens after he's done banging on that door.
This discovery of stopping the train is really weird, and glitchy if you couldn't already tell by my descriptions. The dialog messes up when you stop the train, or rather, it keeps on going even though you haven't reached the area where the dialog is supposed to go. And it seems you don't actually have to be in the train to trigger load times, the train does. So that explains why I was bumped out of the level when the train went through the loading zone. Gah, if only I had thought of that, I could have made it to the helicopter. That would have been incredible.
ROFL, I wonder what Barney thought as an empty train hit his station.
