It's interesting how did Spider-Waffle make that jump at the beginning of POWER UP (14:47) instead of using trip mines. I've tried it many times but couldn't Undecided Does anybody know?
I r run gudder!
I am pretty sure he did a wall slide to gain more elevation than normally possible. When you are bhopping your speed is faster than normal, so if you can carry that speed up a slanted wall or incline, you can get to higher platforms than just jumping would permit. Correct me if I am wrong, but thats what it appears.
Yeah, it helps to avoid first trip mine, but what about the second?
hl for president.
actually i find the second jump a lot easier than the first one. if you made it up to the first block, then you simply need a little bit of space between you and the barrier(one step backwards while crouching, for example). then pressing forward and a combination of jump/duck/whatever. just spam a bit with those buttons until you find out how it works and you should be able to get pretty much constantly good results.
actually, when doing single-segment halflife speedruns for fun, i always put one tripmine for the first block, because i can hardly ever do this jump, and then jump over the second without a tripmine. works well!
Don't think!  feeeeeal
Ya, I think the first one is harder too.  You don't need more than 400 speed but it certainly does allow more margin of error to be going faster.  In my run I chop hopped near to the edge of the barrier then jumped into the slant.
Hey, very nice job here, a bit late but well, still awesome.

Do you think it would interest people if I could re-capture the run in a better quality? (I'm thinking at least WS 720p, or maybe 16/10)

Bye Smiley
Don't think!  feeeeeal
well you could, but there's still tons of editing that has to be done after that.  Would you capture with fraps or startmovie+audio recorder?

Well, it depends. I didn't test anything yet, because I can't get the demos working, I need the version of the game you used Smiley
But I'll test with both methods, I am used to the startmovie method so it won't be a problem, even if it could be a lot easier with Fraps (sound and synchro already done).
It may sounds useless, but I watch HL1&2 speedruns often, so it could at least be useful for me.

EDIT: Okay, it seems that the game won't run at a 16/9 or 16/10 resolution, and since I can't crop because of the HUD, I think it's not a good idea, too bad.
I'm a Half-Life runner ;)

I recognise that you're quoting Spider's 'controversial' thread title from way back, and some people on irc (well, me included) appreciate the irony, but I worry this is needlessly provocative.

Lest anyone get any ideas: all the debates about Spider-Waffle, HLDQ and script usage have been had already at much length and repetition. Mike and Enhasa have both said multiple times that runs that were accepted and were legal at the time they were submitted will never be removed except by the runner's request, full stop. The arguments surrounding the HL runs and Spider's forum behaviour were put to rest almost a year ago and don't need to be resurrected. Please, nobody resurrect them.

Sorry. But did you read Zhouy's post, or were you too busy with looking at porno?

His health-armor goes from 83-26 to 79-18. Oh, what a coincidence, he got perfect armor for the interlooper boost.
I know this run is many years old, but me and Zhouy noticed this and thought it was fun to bring it up.

EDIT: Who knows, maybe Spider have an explanation for this?

You're right, I missed Zhouy's post because I was wanking furiously. Sorry.

Interesting. Being discussed on irc now. My personal theory, based on the fact that SW did something similar at the start of his Opposing Force run, is that the run is legit but the fade has been edited into the video here because fade-ins don't work properly when replaying demos. I'm sure somebody will post in a second after watching the demos, though.
Svart Lyser Tronen
I see. So this is prpbably legit.
The headcrabs attack and hit him. But this cannot be seen in the video because of his own fade-in editing.
Problem solved?

Ya quad's got it.  I just did a cross fade with a screen shot from when the screen is all black but you can still see the hud.

Excuse me my bad English
How can I record a new demo after every loading when levels change? sv_autorecord in the HLSP Bunny Mod 4.1.r record a demo only after my personal loading (load game).
