I want to do a speedrun with all quests (except join OC, join NC, Xardas and the Sleeper awakes, because the first two are mutually exclusive with join SC and the latter two cannot be solved) using all glitches but not Ctrl+Alt+F8 (and Shift+Esc for that matter but I guess it is useless).
The basic plan is already explained here: http://gothicgame.ru/t-34785/
The route as posted there (far from optimal yet):
- Talk to Diego and get the join OC quest.
- Loot the chest along the path
- pick up the old sword
- go to the OC and pass the guards
(can the sword be skipped?)
- loot Stone's chests and equip the Rusty Twohander
- go to Nek, loot him, take & equip the amulet, pick up a herb
- let a molerat hit you while you drink strength potions, heal with herb also while being hit up to 94 strength
(is there a health potion nearby?)
- pick up 3 mushrooms (the ones you need for Snaf)
- go to the OC and beat up Mordrag and loot him
- kill and loot 3 meatbugs
- tell Mordrag to go away
- get the Fisk quest
- talk to Thorus
- talk to Diego
- go to the OM
- talk to Snipes and pick up the mushroom next to him
- make Aaron go away
- talk to Snipes
- sell Aaron his key, beat him up, loot him (make sure he has both bread and cheese)
- talk to Ulbert and give him a beer, pick up the bread next to him
- get the list from Ian
- talk to Ulbert
- beat up the guard nearby and beat up and loot Alberto
(I don't have beat up Ulbert written down there, but I think you have to do that too)
- drop down to the ground
- strafe through the gate
- kill the queen, collect three eggs
(possible experience gain through minecrawlers, 130 each)
- leave OM and pick up the mushroom near one of the ladders
- talk to and beat up Lefty and loot him
- beat up Shrike and loot him
- get the quest from Kagan
- give 8 joints to bandits and learn acrobatics and beat up and loot Wolf
- talk to Kagan
(which reward to chose?)
- talk to Sharky
- talk to Shrike
- talk to Jeremiah
- talk to Isidor and give him 200 ore
- go to the FM and talk to Baloro and give him his stuff
- strafe through the gate into the FM
- get the medicine and give it to Tarrok
- go back to the NC and kill and loot the damlurker
- strike a NPC near Gorn (all mercenaries will attack you, but except Gorn they all have bows and stop chasing you quickly)
- pay attention Gorn is following and talk to Homer
- talk to Horatio (strength now at 99)
- talk to Lefty but don't provoke him
- make Gorn follow you all the way to the monastery ruin
- at the spot where you meet him in chapter 3 make him stop chasing you, go back and get the focus mission running, tell him about Shrike
- drop down the canyon and loot the chest
- transform into a meatbug and immediately transform back so that you are outside the levelmesh standing on a plank
- walk over nothing into the room with the focus
- loot both chests
- open the door and leave
- fly towards the fog tower
- kill the skeleton mage and loot him
(possible experience gain through skeletons, 250/300 each)
- kill 2 fire warans and loot one
- go to molerats and raise strength to 146 (don't raise it higher before because Horatio would reset it)
- talk to Lester and make him go to the alchemists
- talk to Melvin
- talk to Ghorim
- beat up Harlok
- talk to Lester and senk him back to the entrance
- talk to Baal Tondral
- talk to Harlok and make him work
- talk to Baal Orun
- kill the bloodflies on the way to Viran
- beat up and loot Viran
- fly to the nearby island with the remaining bloodfly, kill it, kill and loot a swampshark, pick up 5 of the strongest herbs
- talk to Viran
- talk to Cor Kalom and take his recipe (don't give him the eggs)
- talk to Baal Orun
- talk to Lester
- talk to Baal Namib
- transform into a savenger near Lester, make him chase you till you're as near to the bloodhounds as possible
- transform back, kill the two/three nearest bloodhounds, transform into a molerat, make Lester chase you up to the point where he meets you in chapter 3 (EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!)
- get the focus there
- fly to Xardas's tower and get the quest from Xardas and buy 8 demon summoning scrolls
(what is the ideal amount of scrolls?)
- kill his golems
(is it faster to buy scrolls or let the Ice Golem kill the Fire Golem?)
- go the OC and give Dexter the recipe
- talk to Fisk
- give Sly the amulet
- give Snaf his stuff
- learn picklocking from Fingers and get his approval (normally Dexter, Thorus, Fisk and Sly would be enough, but a script bug makes it so that you don't get points from Fisk, if you have started Thorus's quest)
- talk to Diego
- talk to Thorus
- talk to Raven
- talk to Gomez and become a Shadow
- get the quest from Raven
- go to the OC main gate and let the bald guard talk to you
- talk to Thorus and become a guard
(level 10 is not reached without the possible experience I listed above)
- talk to Dusty and agree to lead him
- lead him to the SC and talk to Lester
- talk to Baal Tondral
- use sleep on one of Baal Cadar's students, get his approval, raise mana to 50, beat him up and loot him
(how much mana is optimal?)
- talk to Y'Berion
- go to and beat up and loot Nyras
- go towards the gobbo cave and kill and loot a shadowbeast along the path
- get the almanac
- go to the Orcgraveyard, glitch through the door using transform meatbug
- do the quests here
(can Baal Lukor be grabbed without killing the orcs first?)
- leave without fighting Lukor
- talk to Y'Berion
- talk to Cor Kalom and give him eggs and almanac
- sleep and start the ceremony
- talk to Angar and go through the options until he leaves
- go away from Angar to have him removed more quickly
- summon skeletons 3x and use the chaos to shove Cor Kalom near his laboratory using the golem heart
- loot his chest
- shove him outside the SC and towards the NC
(ice golem heart and demon summon scroll help make him fly more, more experimentation on how to speed this up is needed)
- get him inside the NC (I avoid Gorn and use skeletons and charm to overcome the invincible guard)
- get him near the entrance to the magicians of water (thankfully no mercenary has to be attacked and they don't care what you do to Cor Kalom)
- talk to Saturas and get his quest
- shove Cor Kalom all the way to Milten
- kill the keeper and loot the chest with the focus
- shove Cor Kalom all the way to Diego
- kill and loot the troll
(can this be done with a two-handed weapon at 5% and the burning glitch and would it be faster?)
- use telekinesis to pick up the focus
- shove Cor Kalom back to Saturas (using the same tactics for the invincible guard)
- start chapter 4
- shove Cor Kalom towards the OC main gate
- talk to Fletcher
- push Cor Kalom through a hole at the left of the gate
- get Cor Kalom near the house of the ore barons
- talk to Cor Kalom and join the SC, get his quests
- kill or beat up the guards
- use charm on Bartholo, give him the weed
- use charm on Raven, give your report
- shove Cor Kalom back to the main gate
- shove him outside using the same spot as before (it is more difficult this way but possible)
- shove him towards the NC and talk to Jacko
- teleport to the SC and walk to the mountain keep and talk to Lester
- talk to Ur-Shak
- talk to Xardas
- talk to Xardas's demon
(in my testrun he spawned in the middle of the OC for no reason, I hope this is just a really rare bug)
- enter the Temple of the Sleeper
- kill the priests with Pyrokinesis and Fire Storm
- pick up Uriziel
- leave the temple and teleport to Xardas and talk to him
- go to his old tower and loot his chest
- teleport to Xardas and talk to him
- teleport to Saturas and talk to him about being guildless
- talk to Milten and make him go to the ore mound
- talk to Milten and start chapter 6
- teleport to Saturas
- talk to Gorn and make him send you to Wolf
- talk to Wolf
- talk to Lee and become a mercenary
- enter the FM
- read Chromanin 1 to 4 (they spawn at the entrance)
- kill and loot enough minecrawlers
- give Tarrok his stuff
- leave the FM and start chapter 5
- teleport to Saturas and talk to him
- talk to Wolf
- teleport to the SC
- go to the fog tower and loot the dead man
- teleport to Xardas
- go to the temple of the sleeper
- kill the remaining priests and read the book
- finish the game

If you're willing to help in any way or think you can improve the route please let me know.

Spent hours today just to see it was all in vain because the 13th segment is missing...
This is the progress so far (12 segments):

I was already in the Old Mine. Cry
Edit history:
Blubbler: 2013-01-26 02:05:51 pm
I'm currently at 200 segments, 1:49:35 and 26 quests solved shoving Cor Kalom to the New Camp from the last focus place. I also found it is not actually necessary to wait with joining the Swamp Camp, so I only have to finishing shoving him there, then to Jacko, then to the orebarons and I'll be finished with this tedious part.

I want to at the end use a glitch that allows me to skip dialogues. To do this I would load an old save, start a dialogue while opening the menu, load another save, finish the game.
I just wonder if it's allowed and if it is what is timed and what is not.
1. navigate to & load save 1
2. loading screen
3. enter dialogue and open menu
4. navigate to & load save 2
5. loading screen
6. play
My guess: 3, 4 and 6 are timed.

I also have a question regarding the final encode. I basically want it to look like the preview video above this post with as much as possible cut out.
Can I cut out world transition loading screens?
When opening the menu to save at the end of a segment the character keeps moving for 2 or 3 frames. It would be extremely annoying to have the menu pop up for 3 frames all the time. Can I cut that?
After every loading screen there are a few frames during which I think the game has still not finished loading.
An example, where I saved in front of a dead NPC and were in fighting mode while loading.
frames 1-2:

The camera is at an odd angle, the NPC and the hero are standing normally.
frame 3:

The camera is at the normal angle, NPC and hero still normal.
frame 4:

The camera is at the normal angle, the NPC lies and the hero is in the fighting stance.
So during frame 1-3 absolutely nothing happens. I'd like to cut the frames before the camera angle adjusts because as said I think it's the loading screen vanishing early.
A horribad SS of me.
29min with loading screens - 26min without

no sound because it causes the game to crash more often

100% is going very slowly - I'm at 221 segments right now and about to end the part with Cor Kalom
I finished the 100% run. Smiley I'm not sure, if I should submit. I'm very content with my planning, but the verifiers may not like the various execution mistakes losing seconds.

I just noticed that this game and Psychonauts have at least one thing in common: The fastest way to move forwards is to [s]tumble. Also, you can fly. Smiley I hope there are no major mistakes in the beginnings of segments. Towards the end is better I think. The run is looking pretty good at 20 minutes in...

...At 30 minutes I'm going to say this run is not going to be rejected for lacking in entertainment value. Shocked

ChickenB0h BOH! :D
huh? no even slightest idea what happened there Cheesy awesome run. oh btw. you've broke it big time...
Can someone explain to me what is gained by shoving Cor Kalam all over the place?  That's the only part of this fascinating run that I don't understand.
Quote from elkston:
Can someone explain to me what is gained by shoving Cor Kalam all over the place?  That's the only part of this fascinating run that I don't understand.

I need to do this to do the Swamp-Camp-only quests.
When the 4th chapter starts a member of the Old Camp loses his guild. If you talk to Cor Kalom then, it is possible to become a novice.
But Cor Kalom is supposed to be removed from the game at the beginning of the 3rd chapter. So I have to push him so he stays near me all the time and isn't removed. For this reason it is also absolutely necessary that the Orc Graveyard is entered early.
^^^^^^^^^
I see. Thank you for the explanation.

I think it is interesting how when you enter the Orc Cemetary early, all the templars are still alive.
I decided to submit anyway. If you can, please offer to verify: http://queue.speeddemosarchive.com/queue/verificationoffer/152/

I'm now working on G2 without add-on. I can't estimate the time yet, but the route is pretty much finished. It is completely different from a run with the add-on since I can't accelerate time or buy high-end scrolls immediately and use almost for free, but on the other hand I only need to kill two dragons.

They're alive either way. They're supposed to get killed as you approach them.
I started a Gothic 2 speedrun.

Why not NotR?

Quote from Artur1:
Why not NotR?

Because there is already a NotR run, but not a Classic run.
That's a nice video and it works in Classic too. That's why it's good to post progress, you have to redo less.^^

Btw I use devmode, because then the loading screen goes away before you have control. Since I don't use cheat codes, I don't see a problem with it, since it's only to my disadvantage.

The route videos are finished. I bought one mana potion too much. The spell selection and inventory navigation was completely messed up - I'll plan this. Lutero somehow had too many speed potions.
Two things I may change:
- buy transform snapper to get rid of the other monsters at the stone dragon
- buy any transformation for the seamap acquisition, I watched TheWonderer's NotR run and it looked faster and more reliable than my method. Of course I need to test first.

I also found out the mouse wheel works in the inventory. You can go from top to bottom in an instant.
Never played this or the other Gothic games, but man that stuff looks b-r-o-k-e-n. Running through stone walls uses the element of surprise to catch the game's collision detection division off-guard. In the end it's like "Man he's that deep in already... You do what you like, I'm not gonna do all that paperwork."

Wow! That video is so retarded, if you replaced the audio with the Chacarron, it would be more retarded than all the retarded horses out there.

Speaking of audio, what happened to game sounds? I'd like to suggest adding a few more annotations to give viewers who didn't finish the game an idea of what you're doing and why. Why you need those priests dead, what items you're picking up etc. But yeah the way the game is being broken to pieces makes it injudicious not to at least briefly contemplate that there had to be hacks. I know there aren't, but that's the level it's on.
