Not sure if Purple had already discovered this but I used this route in Jungle instead of the one that I used in my 6:55 Time Trial run. Got a 6:58 but i made a mistakes that lost maybe 3-4 seconds, not sure its hard to tell. On my 6:55 run i think i couldve pulled off the hover about one second faster but no more. Does anyone know if this route in the video would be faster then the one we used before? The one demonstrated in this run here is soooooo much easier for me to pull off then the previous strat, i had alot of trouble pulling off the hover in the 6:55 video so I will do some more runs using this route and see if i can go lower.
Which part of the route is different? From what I saw, everything you did in this run was similar to the route the TAS uses, minus the hover at the very start and the gate skip. I don't remember what you did in your 6:55 run but the route you used in this video looks great, especially if it's easier to pull off.
I lost about 1 second to movement, 1 second during first hover, easy 2-3 seconds on 2nd hover, and about a second from there to the end with a bad Xenia fight.. so this is for sure faster. The old route for 6:55 was executed near perfection.. this 6:58 is poorly executed.. about 5-6 seconds to save on this. I'll work more on this level soon, gonna go for at least 6:53 or lower, 6:52 possible most likely.
This is the hover I used before, the one that despawns the guards in the gate section. I just tied my 6:55 using new strat, going to keep at it, if I hadn't gotten seen by the gun at the gate, 6:54-6:53
Grats for the TAS, your a beast.. I started looking into the hover in this video which is done at 3:15 in this video. I managed it once in real time, but executing both those hovers back to back is brutal.. I may try runs including both for a better IL time, has anyone else gotten both these hovers in a RTA attempt? I imagine not messing up the gate and including 2nd hover could get this time down to 6:50 maybe? Any thoughts? Lol
I haven't done the hover you mentioned. I'm pretty sure it saves a few seconds if you do it the way the TAS does. It would be tough, though. I think you fall all the way down if you fail it.
Also, I'm rendering the TAS right now and I plan to livestream the whole thing with commentary this saturday (April 8th), probably at 2:00 PM CST (8:00 PM GMT). That is subject to change, though.
Keep me posted because I want to watch it with you, if it's anytime Saturday I'll be good to be there for sure. Yes if you mess up the hover you fall and it would already be slower then normal route so you only get 1 try. I can make it up the rock not too bad, but halfway up the hover gets brutal. I use a pause in the middle of it to adjust my angle and hands ( I have two methods for different hovers and I use both on the 2nd hover). If you watch the 2nd video of my 6:55 jungle a couple of posts up, pay attention to how fast I execute the hover up the rocks.. I swear my button mashing was TAS haha. The one time I got the 2nd hover ( not recorded ) it was that fast as well, but the angle has to be perfect to not fall down... It requires so much luck as well as execution.. I guess that's why I want it so bad haha, gonna try attempts tonight after work.
Edit: just realized I hadn't posted my second 6:55 video, here it is.. check out the TAS hover lol
I fail hard in other places so I definitely will beat this
Cool stuff man, I will definitely be there to watch it.. can't wait!! I'll post link to video soon but I just got a 6:53 Jungle, didn't use the TAS hover and it wasn't that good of a run to be honest .. 6:51 possible with this exact route/strat. TAS hover could bring down to 6:48 ish on a dream run
Eventually that would be the goal, but I'm considering reworking alot of my operative times, at least the ones I know can easily be improved. I know Dam 8:30 can be faster simply with checkloads, but it's a beast of a time so I worked on this today instead.
7:45 Facility Operative acheived on my third attempt.. I'm going to try to tie purples 2:56 airfield next, with Sprint canceling to help gain that extra second, I think it might have saved me a second on facility hehe
Damn man, I guess it wasn't meant to be.. I have to go up North with my mom and sister for the weekend. My dad passed away this week and we have allot of things to take care of. Shame I will miss the revealing of the TAS. I'll watch it when I get home man.
Amazing man, good commentary too by the way.. it's so nice to finally see the whole thing in one shot. It really is a shame we didn't discover/figure out Sprint cancelling earlier, I can just imagine how much cooler some levels would look.
