I frequent a site called justin.tv. It's a live stream site and they have a ton of gaming streams. Lately of course many people have been streaming God of War 3, a few of which are streaming chaos mode.

Chaos mode looks ridiculously hard, but I've seen one person beat it so far. If you have some free time head over there and see if anyone is casting Chaos mode, the broadcasters and chatters can be helpful.
thx for the advice.. Smiley

i found some strategies on youtube too

chaos is really hard..  1-2 hits from some enemys and you're dead

i'm still wondering with weapon is stronger.

cestus or blade of exile?

which won has the higher kill speed?

This game is losing its foothold at a rapid pace. Recently they discovered a new game+ glitch, with which you may begin the game with all your weapons and items. A quick estimation: about 20% of the game can be skipped. And that number is just pertaining to the current knowledge - knowledge which is incrementing by the minute. "In the end, only Chaos remains."

Not to detract from the topic of speed running this game but is there a community devoted to sequence breaking the game or is this info coming from gamefaqs?
i just discovered a nice "trick" at the scorpio,, when he starts his tail smashing attack, just grab one small scorpio and use the invisible moment Smiley

the cerberus fight at the end just makes me sick Sad

The new game+ glitch came from GameFAQs or beyond. Other skips and tricks have been found by the same folks who were glitching the previous GoW titles a year or two back (me, Findlestick, a certain someone who I'm not sure if he wants to be attributed, etc.) There may be progress elsewhere too, but I haven't browsed the web lately in search of something like this.

When I'm less tired, guess I'll go into more detail concerning the found skips and related stuff.

Is there a nice chaos mode playthrough anywhere to be found on the web?  8)

You've opted to humor that request of his?  I do believe it was more a manner of spite towards me, but who can say for sure since that conversation was never properly concluded.  Pity.

~As for glitches, skips, exploits, tactics, etc. ...all in good time.  I'm nearly finished with the first rounds of testing.  Of course I'll be more likely to report findings for Akheon to denote and decide their relevance to any such runs.  For the moment, my focus is on preparations for a Chaos PAIN+ now that the NUR+ is finished.  Along the way, I may learn a few things worth noting.  Though they've done wuite well without me being involved thus far.
I'll watch this just for the story, no matter the gameplay quality. Since I am not planning to buy a PS3!  Cheesy

If a NG+ is going to be considered, how many sequences can be broken? Having the Cestus can theoretically eliminate the need for most of the game by breaking the onyx the first time you reach the judges. Provided that doesn't work, the Bow gets rid of the sequence of obtaining it and perhaps going to Hades right away. And the Nemesis whip can skip Aphrodite, Tartarus, etc.

I've tried using the Cestus right when you first enter Gaia's heart area, and I don't think the game picked up on it. That's as far as I got on NG+ before going legit for my platinum trophy.

The single biggest skips I know of are...

- skipping most of Realm of Hades:

- skipping Palace of Hades puzzle:

- City of Olympia centaur fight, crossbow, etc. skip

- skipping the infamous music puzzle:

- skipping Pit of Tartarus, Cronos, Aphrodite cutscenes, etc.

- skipping 3rd and 4th rooms in the Labyrinth

>>Having the Cestus can theoretically eliminate the need for most of the game by breaking the onyx the first time you reach the judges.

The game crashes once you destroy the third stone. I've heard that the crash can be postponed by activating the Pandora cutscene (before rope crossing) first, but that the game crashes anyway once you start hacking away at the exposed chain. I've also heard that once you return here later on in the game, everything's been reset (including the neck stones).

And what of a traditional run? I'm assuming it's going to be Very Hard mode, in the same vein as this game's predecessors?

On another note, is the Jet Dash overall faster than the roll cancel? Maybe not so much if you're changing direction, but for long hallways it should certainly make distance in a short time.

Jet Dash is faster than doing any of the rolls at least.

So, Findlestick got that early chain breaking thing to work, and now half of the game can be skipped. A NG+ run probably takes less than 45 minutes to complete thanks to it.
Sup!
That being said, watching a speedrun with nothing but skips and dashes makes only boss fights seem interesting.
Then again, the purpuse is to break a time attack.

I would much rather see a "from scratch" run on very hard over a 45 minute glitch run, but thats just an opinion.
Good luck on either runs nonetheless!

I agree, although I do appreciate the effort which goes into finding and using these glitches and sequence breaks.  I would love to see either of these runs, but I do believe a Chaos mode run with no sequence breaks and no deaths would impress me most!
Anyone planing to run this game?
I'm playing it on VERY HARD and it would be very intresting to see a run for this game .
1-Up!
Use the search feature to find the existing thread, I've already done it for you: it's here.

As you can see there isn't any work being done right now.  I'm going to just merge these together.

I hear Findlestick is planning a NG+ glitched speedrun of this game, at least.
Nothin beats the classics....NES / SNES for life
I just got this game back from a friend, and I think i'm going to put work into a Chaos speedrun of this. the newest patch, 1.03, in my understanding, negated a lot of the glitches achieved through a NG+, so I think that category might be out. I'm currently playing through on Titan to help refine strategies for unskippable fights, especially early on in the game. So far I've found that the Combat Grapple is the go-to technique due to its limited invincibility. Any thoughts or advice for any specific fights would be greatly appreciated.
trepidation
AFAIK, you don't have to DL the patches to play the game, and if you have already, you can always delete your game data to revert back to version 1.0. So, any things they might have patched should be a non issue. I wish someone would run this game. Some of the breaks looked awsome.

Finished my scratch Titan run.  Playing casually, I finished in just under 6 hours. There really isn't much to the game as far as gameplay to warrant such a long run time, save for the fact that there are SO MANY cutscenes. i didn't really realize this on my first few times through, as i was still enjoying how pretty the game was. but, you can't skip them, which sucks. so my guess is that combined, they account for about an hour or so (including all the non-cinematic camera shifts where you can't move). Realistically, a segmented run from scratch on Chaos.... I'll be happy with sub 5:30. Can't air-dash until Hermes, can't Jet-Dash until after Tartarus. Makes for lots of rolling.

In no universe would i ever have the patience or the mental stability to do a Chaos run single-segment. Such suggestions make me cringe. Smiley

Probably start recording at the end of the week.
Hey all, I have completed (and captured) an NG+ Speedrun of GoWIII. I'll be uploading it to my YouTube page in a week or 2, for anyone that is interested:
