I've been trying to find childhood games to run lately and came across this gem again. I've noticed that this game is (sadly) extremely obscure, though, and can barely find info about this franchise, but was hoping if there were any speed runners out there to compete with and all that fun stuff.

I've noticed maybe two good runners, but they haven't uploaded anything Gex related in years worth, soooo... =/. I was hoping to breathe some life into this game =)
I guess to start it off, I'll show you my run to show what this game can be about.

Thread title:
He's got a bicycle!
I've seen a few runs of the Gex games but the first one is definitely the hardest to find runs of. This was the best any% time I could find

and I've also seen some 100% runs too. The Gex community doesn't seem to be very big and most of the people who run it tend to gravitate towards the N64 versions of 2 and 3. I recently started running Gex 2 on PS1, and I may start running the first one if I get more familiar with it.

Thanks for the heads up =).

I've actually came across that video recently and was surprised to see actual life. It really doesn't help that Youtube hides these speed runs, too (Seriously, I've searched this very guy's run for a second time and couldn't find it anywhere unless I specifically typed in the title...)

Do you know of a place where there's a collective base of Gex runners? Good luck if you start Gex 1, too.

He's got a bicycle!
http://gexruns.wikia.com/wiki/Gex_Speedruns_Wiki I found this old outdated wiki which doesn't have much to it. Mostly pertaining to the second game.
http://www.speedrun.com/gex And here are some leaderboards for all the games. I'm not sure how relevant they are anymore though.
EDIT: they actually do seem to be relevant, seeing submissions from September of this year
It's tail time!
I'm late but oh well better late than never. I speedrun Gex 2 on PS1, but I actually plan on speedrunning the first one, if you are still interested in the first game, you should definitively ask IceChaosDragoon about it, http://www.twitch.tv/icechaosdragoon he is a super cool guy, and he used to run Gex 1 Smiley If any is interested in Gex 2 you can ask me, I'm a very active runner of Gex 2.

@Crash6351: Good looking out again. Speedrun.com was actually the first place I went to myself but couldn't find anyone there. I found it a little funny how the record holder was the one guy that you posted the youtube vid of.

@WhitePaaws: Hmm so I guess 3D Gex really is where the party's at. I'll have to try to transition after I get this Gex run completed. I've heard that Gex 2 is very unforgiving though compared to the other Gex's, though. I wonder what that's all about.
It's tail time!
@StriCNYN3 ummm, I dunno, people might say that because of the RNG in the final boss. Besides that I think it's not too punishing. But yea, anyway, nice to see more people getting interested in speedrunning the series Cheesy When you finish with Gex, if you are still interested in running Gex 2, you can ask me anything about it Smiley Good luck with your Gex runs!
I would love to speedrun this game but I easily get lost in the levels and waste too much time even for casual run. I wish there was a map anyone made for routing this game.

@WhitePawws: Hmm, that doesn't sound that bad at all actually. Not like such a thing was going to prevent me from ever running it anyways, but that's good to know. Do you stream on twitch or post on youtube, 'cause i'll def check it out to see what Gex 2 is all about.

@Soliduz Znake: Hmm, it depends if you're doing an Any% or 100% run. With an Any%, you can skip certain TV's in the hubworld entirely (Like say that 4th labyrinth level in Toonland). It's pretty easy to know what to skip since in the title cards before the level starts, it'll show if that level has a remote to find or not. Of course, you'd have to know which specific remote to look for before hand to know which remote turns on what TV. I'm figuring things out as I run, and will have a route done pretty soon =).

@StriCNYN3 I stream every now and then http://www.twitch.tv/whitepaaws although my pb's are on youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGxs8Ss1_nK0LIsppPuBObQ, actually, my last pb was my AGDQ submission (which got rejected sadly) and I explained most of the stuff I do in the run as best as I could in that video. Buut, yea, again, if you have any questions, feel free to ask them Smiley
