this stuff is just so confusing for me.. lol i would just stick with the original console but a speedrun video i looked up on youtube could tell it wasnt the console but didnt know if it even counted or not

Clarification: If you want to speedrun for speedruns sake you are allowed to the use of Emulators, however this might change depending on the subscene for said game. The best bet would be to come in contact with the specific games' scene to figure out what emulator you should use. There are leaderboards on speedrun.com and on various scene-specific sites that allows for emulators like this, so you could claim a World Record on an emulator

For run submissions to be immortalized on SDA though you NEED to capture from an original console or use official emulators like Virtual console to do your runs.
