I think you should just do:

Nintendo Runs
Sony Runs
Sega Runs
Microsoft Runs
PC Runs
Other System Runs

Of course, the names stand for console makers...not game developers...

Too many forums...
Reserved Postulator
In agreement with Maur here.

A single forum for non-Quake speedruns is suitable. There is not enough activity on this forum to warrant splitting it. It's easier to browse all active speedrun topics, and people new to SDA may stick around if they can browse a single forum for a topic that interests them. Searching multiple forums can get tedious.

Just do:

Current Generation Runs (GCN, X-Box, PS2, GBA, DS, PSP)
Past System Runs
PC Runs
Quake Runs
I'm addicted to games
That's practically what i said... I just included n64 and ps1 in the "new" pile.

Your year 1995 was an odd year to chose.  SNES was still strong in that year, and Super Mario RPG would fall into the wrong category...

I've already clarified that i meant SYSTEMS released after the date, not games!

This goes by US dates?

I think it would be better to have a general forum and a forum for runs that have been done. Topics would be moved to the second forum when a run is posted. That way all the junk that just gets talked about stays in general, and it's easy to find the right thread if you want to talk about something that's been posted, even if it had been posted a while ago.

Also, dividing the forums based on new/old consoles is silly. And Radix is silly. And so is TSA, and everyone else who posts here.

wants to be silly too.

If you move topics do a "completed" forum afterwards the result will be that the following up run is discussed in that topic in the wrong forum -> more work for Radix, moving and stuff.

If anything you could lock the topic where the run was done and open a designated topic in such a forum. If the topic is there anyway the inhibition to open a new topic is cicumvented too and we get some qualified discussions about completed runs (or more praise...)

The year issue is silly, just like TSA tries to point out. Make it by technology. Every console capable of real 3d is new, the others are not (GBA can only do texture tricks appearing to be 3d but are not, and the original Starfox on SNES doesn't use textures, so it's not the nowaday 3d either.) Yes, disregarding GBA, it's no different from your division. It's just a better excuse for it. And besides, 2d and 3d consoles make for much better forum names Wink

I came to this conclusion also at first, but then I realised that n64 runs seem pretty popular and maybe it will be better balanced with Radix's original idea, so I am all for that one now.
No the Quail is not riding the Q
How about:

Contemporary Home consoles: N64 GCN xbox etc.
Classic Home consoles: Nes atari
Portables and Arcade: Gameboys DS PSP Sega Game Gear etc. Different Methods of recording required
PC Games and Alternative Consoles: Playing on the PC or playing on consoles from other Countries...not released in US.
QUAKE

The best I can think of with a limited amount of boards...
For each it would also mean in the same board Tech support for the consoles invovled and speed run conversation of course.
For contemporary and classic it is really just like saying 3-D and 2-D games for the most part.

I still think dividing by new and old will result in annoying "OMFG old games sux" and "OMFG new games sux" people.

Thats just wrong...for anyone to say that.. they can think one is better as long as it is not unfairly bias like that.

Then those people will be banned. I have no tolerance for people who type in l33t/lazy type or are general idiots or annoyances.
I like the new, tidy feel of the forum Smiley Change is always nice once in a while.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Under PC games, it says "expect Quake"... I'm guessing you meant "except"  Wink
