It finally happened!  Four topics were bumped off the front page of Newer Consoles within 24 hours.  Including mine.  Tongue  So yeah, maybe make the list longer, or put PS1 on the older consoles forum, or something...

This problem'll get worse when the next-gen runs start coming in.  Maybe divide it up by system, or simply generation?
Thread title:
How is it a problem?  All you need to do is bump your topic again.

Then you'd have a bunch of bumps on the front page, trying to out-bump each other to stay on top.  AND the real content posts would get pushed down.

I agree that it may be a smart move to move N64 and PS topics to the old consoles forum sometime soon. There's plenty of room in there, and we're almost in the next gen of consoles.
I'm addicted to games
I increased the number of topics per page from 20 to 50. That's a lot less work.  Tongue

Yes, that works also  ::).
I like this site name cause it's easy to remember.
Now wait a minute. If you put N64 and PS1 in the old consoles, it won't be obvious, and then you'll basically have to list all systems for each one. If you're going to (re-)split, it would make sense to make it into either "3D consoles" and "2D consoles" or system-specific boards (like Bisqwit's).
Your almighty lordship
What defines a "2D console" versus a "3D console"?
新世紀進歩的羽扇子 音楽
The least ambiguous way is obviously the shape of the media.

PSX/PS2/GCN/XBOX/DC/SS/TG-16=2D
NES/SNES/GEN/N64/GB=3D

Funny yet true.

N64/PS1 are about to be 2 generations old.  When Revolution/PS3 are out - they should be moved to Older Consoles.
Sleeping Terror
You want to volunteer to go through the Newer Consoles forum and make a list of topics about N64 and PS1 games? 'Cause I don't want to.

That's being too active.

Just say from now on, post N64/PS1 topics in that other forum.  If they are bumped back up in the newer console forum - only move those.  No need to move all of them if 99% of them are dead now.

What about just making a "Newest Consoles".

Because that's just procrastinating what should be done in the first place. Would we create a "More Newer Consoles" forum for PS4?

Most Newest.
Or call it "1st generation", "2nd generation"...

I'd prefer like this:

8-16 Bits (Megadrive,Nes,Snes,...)
32-64 Bits (Saturn,N64,Ps1,...)
>128 Bits (Dreamcast,GC,Ps2,Xbox,...)

You'd still need the pre crash systems (Atari, Intellivision, etc) though, seeing how we don't have any runs or discussions of those systems, I guess it's not a problem ^^
Also, would you place the DS in the 64 bits? and the PSP in the 128 bits? (not sure of actual bitage...)

I say keep it "Older Consoles", "Newer Consoles" and add "7th Generation".

The big problem is that bittage really doesn't matter anymore. Doesn't the current generation (not counting XBOX 360, but the original) have like a 32-bit, a 64-bit, and a 128-bit all at once?

Something like that, not so sure. But you're right. People stopped referring to bits after the N64/PSX era. Now they're usually referred to as generation. PS2/NGC/XBX/SDC = 6th Gen and REV/PS3/360 = 7th

Or maybe

Sega Forum (DC,MD,Sms,Sat,...)
Nintendo Forum (Nes,Snes,Gba,N64,...)
Sony Forum (Ps1,2,3,Psp)
Xbox Forum (Xbox,360)
Other System (Jag,3do,Msx,Amiga,................)

If you're gonna go to all that trouble, then it'd just be easier to split the forum like originally suggested, moving the 64 bit era to older consoles.

Yes, maybe the best solution!
