I don't think it'd be worthwhile single segment. Even if you keep zell/squall/diablos from eating the wrong rng, you'd still be hitting cancel several hundred times in the worst case.
In segmented you could figure out where in Selphie's list you were and then jump to The End quickly on a second run. But SS that would require pausing or a ridiculous amount of brainpower to do on the fly, so beating Diablos down with Renzo would be faster.

So, the high-level analysis of DarkKobold's script is this:

Trepie #1: 80/256 chance (slightly lower than I thought)
Trepie #2: 71/256
Trepie #3: 19/256

So, assuming the methodology is correct (i.e., the underlying assumption that the PRNG is 8-bit), then Trepie #1 -- the one in the cafeteria -- is the best to play against for the Quistis card.

(Though further analysis of Trepie #2 may be worthwhile: does Trepie #2 play with lower-level cards than Trepie #1? If so, it may be possible to try for the Quistis card earlier in an SS run than when I do.)

It would save some time, and would make quite a few fights easier (e.g., you could just mash away the first ironclad battle, instead of having to be creative with multiple limit breaks). Remember, Str+60% doesn't increase damage by 60%; it roughly multiplies damage by 2.45.

Could someone tell me the chances of Seifer dropping a Holy War in the last encounter with him (end of Disk 3). Just recorded an attempt where he dropped one but the segment could use a slight improvement and I will do so if the drop rate isn't really low/rare.

All my work to get 3 characters junctioned to survive a Shockwave Pulsar for nothing. But hell, I'm not complaining. Holy war.

I havn't actually tested trying Ultimecia with no items and this wasn't my plan in the first place. Getting two support characters with decent HP/Spr to survive the Pulsar was done with the intention of saving Ultimecia removing them/replacing them with a new character (wasting 15~ secs).

I didn't even know Seifer could drop Holy Wars and it's a great realisation as this will save casting Shell and/or healing anyone whatsoever and leave my support characters to do additional Limits, if I end up doing so.

255/256 chance that he drops anything. If he drops something, it's a 27/256 chance that it's a Holy War. So, overall, a 10.506% chance of getting a Holy War when battling him.

Ran into one last problem. During the Ultimecia fight the screen shakes between phase 3 and 4 and after I get the last hit in, this causes massive FPS loss and very strange images.

I've tried a bunch of stuff to fix this including updating my video drivers and running the game with every compatability option selected. Updating the drivers sped up the slowdown a small amount but the effect is very much the same.

In an attempt to improve this I downloaded a small mod that supposedly fixes various graphics problems by providing a lengthy list of extra graphics options. This fixed the slowdown but caused two different graphics glitches:

You can edit the number of posts per page, so a page number will always be incorrect. For me, the page count only goes to 32. :\

Well, I'm talking as a guest user. That number should indicate what the page number is in relation to the default setting of the board, so a guest can find the videos. Or just put a link to that post, don't know.

That question is probably better asked on the Tech Support or Verification boards, as opposed to cluttering a game thread. Suffice it to say that lots of us use emulators in the planning phase, and it's a matter of honesty not to use one while making a recording.

Strange days, incredible days

This has been really fun to follow and I'm looking forward to the finished run. I'm playing the game again for fun this week, and while I doubt I'll have anything to add as far as strategies (there's a long history of planning to this game already), I'll keep my eye out and follow the thread just in case.
