thread nemocracy is quite the sin...
a comment like that really i highly doubt would be tolerated here you troll
Everything's better with Magitek
finalgamer23, I think a lot of people are having a hard time believing the times you said you got, especially since darkwasabi worked really hard to get 8:47.  If you could give us more details on how you achieved those times, then maybe more people would believe you.

Still could be interesting to swap ideas, the problem with FF8 is that there are hardly any things that you can sequence break or do different then 'just go fast', route planning is almost not needed.

Sure we can skip the tomb trip, and you have to pick a party when you split after the prison on disc 2... but really, that is nothing compared to other games out there. Smiley

also some of the later in game bosses can be a trouble if your not ready..for example..Ultimecia..cast a spell and your disabled from fight as it absorbs you

That's very generic. I know to be prepared. I know exactly what she can do, she's not that hard with some luck manipulation and proper preperation.

I guess that "Leon" referes to Squall...

And besides... It will not be much trouble. During the run, you wont level up.. at least not by much, since bosses just give EP for GFs and no EXP for the chars, and random encounters will be skipped. And encountering Ultimecia at a low level is the best thing that can happen. Having Squall with a good spell (aqua, ya, its basic, but good for a long time) and maybe some STR+xx% in the abilities.. she will die (or go into the next phase to be precise) from 1 limit break. Just need high HP for a buffer to keep Squall, Irvine or Zell alive and not being at 200 HP, high STR for good dmg and maybe a junction to speed to she won't get a turn while you main damagedealer has haste on him.

If you played it through all chars on level 100, then its a different story. Ya.. she is tricky... but much more fun ^^

Sorry for the wall of text. ^^

While that is commendable, it is not the purpose of a speedrun. Like Abaddon said you can dodge most enemies, you should always run from random encounters. There are some dudes you still have to fight, like the galbadian soldiers in dollet and some things in the attack on balamb garden on disc 2.

That's why enc-half is pretty high on my list of stuff to get from Diablos (but hey don't you want everything from diablos!? :P)
ignore him maglok hes posting retarded stuff in the pokemon thread too
altho hes very excited about speedrunning, which is great and all, he should at least say something he can actually do instead of typing random junk about what he barely recalls doing in a video game that has no relation to speedrunning or the rules!
Heyyy... wait.. i don't know you. Don't confuse me
But tell me Maglok, i just started playing FF8 again, and Diablos is by far easier than everyone makes it sound like.. one of Squall's and Zell's Limits, and he's dust... or how do you beat him? (Faster than letting Zell consume about 3 minutes of time for his duel^^)
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
diablos can be very unpredictable, especially when he is almost dead so if you almost kill him he will start to do very powerful physical attacks in quick succession wiping out your entire party, so he is not that hard per se but he can be frustrating which is why saving just before the battle is the best strategy.

pretty much..but if your not lvl 10 yet then he should be quite easy as he wont have more than 9600..a couple of powered of GF attacks will work well quickly as well..
If your over lvl 10 then its a little hard but not annoying.

Also wasnt there a GF that gave enc-none?
Heyyy... wait.. i don't know you. Don't confuse me
Enc-none is from Diablos... available after he learned enc-half. Iirc it costs something around of 160 - 200 EP. Someone else can answer that exactly ^^

I think enc-none would be far more useful as enc-half..you never have a random fight which is very useful and helpful...

I hope you DO realize, that Enc-None only becomes available AFTER Diablos learned Enc-Half

I cast Blind on Diablos and beat the tar out of him.

Also Enc-half is the only one I worry about when I get it, because after you get Enc-half and the other abilities you need faster then Enc-none it is very easy to get a lot of points together to get Enc-none. Enc-half ims quite ok for most of the game, excluding stuff like Ultimecia's castle.

I am still waiting for a call on the launcher to continue. Mike is looking into the tech bit of it, I linked him the stuff. Smiley

I do wonder about something though. This an-something Chan of Nate's, what exactly does it do for PC games? Cause I been reading that development thread and it said it was not for PC, later on though I read it is. Because I am going to need a way to convert my footage and trim it a little.

Anri-Chan.

It's just a video encoding program that takes the raw footage and encodes it to SDA standards. It's more useful for DVD recordings.
Dum die dum
Well I have a hard time working with my recorded avi stuff, it's o course way to big. This would be the way? Or only for consoles?

At the moment I am preparing to continue the run or perhaps restart if I have to, after I get the call of that launcher. While looking back I have noticed I might want to do something different.

I never got Quetzalcoatl the Boost ability. That means that the one time I'd summon him, at Granaldo, I cannot kill the Raldo's in one shot with him. If it's worth restarting over, I am unsure. I did my fish fins in 2 battles (the like 56K in 1 chance of enough fish fins in 1 battle is not something I planned on doing). This resulted in my Granaldo battle being slower then it could have been. It's nagging, but then again it's also just a matter of like 20 seconds. :s I will also have to take into account the time it takes me to swap Quet to learning Boost, since the first time you get AP is from Ifrit and that's 20, so it would be a waste of good AP to let him learn Boost then (10).
Heyyy... wait.. i don't know you. Don't confuse me
Are the fights against the Galbadia Soldiers in Dollet forced fights as you run to the fountain? Can't you skip them by running away? (That would be my guess where to get the AP for Quetza)
King of hearts
Yes they are forced battles and yes, that's where I learn Boost with Shiva.  I learn it with Shiva because she doesn't have any essential abilities that I need learned ASAP and her attack animation is shorter.
Heyyy... wait.. i don't know you. Don't confuse me
Oh, wasabi.. is this just a formal visit or did you get back on your run?
