Ah yeah sorry, forgot that it´s Gerogero in the US Version. The german version mainly uses the japanese names of monsters, but also some completely self-innovated names...

The President Doulbe is called Namtal Utok, the one in Saltflats is Abaddon (erm.. yeah...^^).... But i remember that you encounter more than one of them in the saltflats until you reach the city...

But since you wont have that high of a level, they wont have that much HP (witch doesn't matter if you're using phoenix) if you decide to use curaga on him/them.

you can i dont know if it is a glitch but i have faced that boss twice one of the times i finished the game

The game should have one Gero Gero and one Abaddon. Smiley

Also just use a x-potion if you have it by then. It won't miss, nor is it dependant on your magic stat. It will one-shot Abaddon on your level. Gero Gero is phoenix down I'd say.

I use Elixirs on both since I acquire them along the way and I don't use them on anything else anyway.

Edit: And Phoenix Downs do miss about 50% of the time. I've wasted a perfectly good segment relying on those.

Yeah, Phoenix Downs are never reliable in ANY FF game. You always use an Elixir if it one-shots an undead enemy. Don't be picky, chances are you won't even need it later since you can just get 'em right back.

I dont think its a glitch. Its more Like, you dont really kill him, but render him "dead" for some time. Once i had to fight him four times bevore i made it into the city. (Played on a PS1 PAL Version.)

On the PC version I have never encountered anything like that. So it must either be a bug or a 'feature' they removed.

I've been dicking around with this game lately. 5-5.5 hours on disc 1 in no saves. That was after grinding for Enc-None, a Water Crystal, and getting the Brothers summon, since I had to go to the Tomb of the Unknown King anyway =p

That's not very good, considering that Disc 1 was probably finished in around 3 hours in Wasabi's run. I think I'll go over the thread again. RPG speedrunning is actually kinda addictive. It's diverting time away from my current project =[

5hours+ into disc 1 when the entire run will be sub 9... ya... not that good ;-)

And besides, grinding is not an option in a speedrun (at least not in this one). The only encounters will be bosses. May be one or another to get stuff like the 5 fish fins for 100 water before getting ifrit.

You can easy calculate how much points (those G.F. Ability points, forgot the name ^^) you get.

You might have been in the tomb, but you don't need to in your speedrun at all. You can get the number, load a previous save, then predict it to the guard so to speak.

I've been really busy lately, but I am still around the training center.

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be. It's the same as redoing a segment untill you get a certain random setup, only here we could redo it till we get the correct password. The game allows you to complete the 'quest' without going to the tomb and just brute forcing it, so yes it would be allowed.

As for my time, I am not home atm so I am not sure, but I'll try to check it up soon.

Foreknowledge is allowed since if you're playing the game for the first time, I'd bet it wouldn't be a good run. Knowing the password is no different from knowing a boss's attack pattern or knowing where to go without a map.

By the way, the password isn't set when you start the game, but I think it's set when you enter the town since if you save before you get on the train and reload from that spot, the password will change.

Hi folks!

I was just lurking on some FF Boards and read something, that caught my attention. It was about the Magic "Death". I read, that some bosses are vulnerable for that. That would mean, that some boss fights could go way faster. Has anyone tested the Death Spell against any Bosses? I don´t know if they really work (I usually never trust some statements, that I read in random Boards XD), but you would have to get Siren for Life-Ref and Saw Blades from Belhel Mehel (around G-Garden) to refine Death.

As you said... "some bosses"

And i don't think that the time spent gathering the 100 death, is it worth. I can't remember that i ever killed a boss with a death junction. Maybe some bosses that are not within the main story, but those don't matter.

I restarted the run a few days ago, but currently I have no time as I have lots of Highschool Graduation Exams atm. Still just the first segment done ^^;;

Well anyway - I got a week off soon and then I can continue the run.
