Don't know what to speedrun :(
This is mostly a shameless self congratulations thread. I'm geeking out on the fact that I was even able to get this to work; hopefully some of you find it as cool as I do. Anyway . . .

Tranquilite had this tool that could find the RNG location in FFXII. I did some work on it and turned it into a tool that we can use to manipulate both chests appearing as well as the item you pull from them. You can see the proof of concept here: http://www.twitch.tv/youkaidragoon/c/6297308

I need to do some more work on the tool but once I get it set up I can post a copy for people to use on their casual playthroughs. You can get that Zodiac Spear you lost when you accidentally opened the wrong chest Smiley

Ok so here is version 1 of Yokai's chest manipulator. When you open it go to the file menu and choose "Chest Manipulation". You can enter up to 3 party members but whichever ones you entered you have to make sure you cast using all members and in the order that they are entered. Please let me know if you find any bugs or if you have ideas about how to improve it.

Oh cool! I've actually done this in 2013 using a special spreadsheet I found. Does it work like this? Did you use the data from the spreadsheet for your program?
Don't know what to speedrun :(
Basically Shiden. The RNG for the PS2 is known. The spreadsheet basically contains every possible value in order and searches through the whole list to find your position.

My program is based on a tool that was written a few years ago by I-don't-know-who. It generates a random number the same way the PS2 does. So it doesn't have a saved list of RNG values. It just initializes the RNG and then chugs through it until it finds a set of values that match what you gave it. I'd like to thing some of the additions I made to the program make it more useful than the spreadsheet but I never used the spreadsheet so I couldn't really tell you.

Ok guys here is a new version of the RNG tool. A few new enhancements for the guys working on OoA.
