I know that the any% is so quick that it's stupid, and that the game is huge, but I'd like to see a run of this game that does everything in a pretty amazing way. I'm just making a post about it for the sake of people possibly wanting to help route it out too. I am planning on starting with doing research on the best starting stats and skill checks. I realize this might be a 5-6 hour run, or even more depending, but it still seems fun.

Edit: In my mind, the definition of 100% would be completing all quests given to you. I was reminded that doing some quest removes the possibility of others. For instance, helping Killian would prevent you from doing the Kill Killian quest. There's also multiple other quests that give negative karma in Junktown and other locations. So I'm suggesting this solution, there would be 2 100% routes. One with a focus on negative Karma, and one with a focus on Positive Karma. Their names would be "100% Good" and "100% Evil".

Edit 2: Change of plans. It's going to be 2 separate categories, All Quests Good, and All Quests Evil.
Thread title:
May the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce!
A more expansive speedrun for this game would be interesting. The first thing would be to come to a consensus for what 100% means in a game like this.
I can't help on the routing, but hell yeah I would like a 100% run (if it's possible).

The idea of 100% is completing each and every mission the game gives you, even unmarked ones. And ending with a pretty high karma level would be good too. The one part that's a pain is starting stats/routing for the beginning, up til the khans.

Edit: There are some missions in Junktown that give you positive and negetive karma, since there are more positive karma missions, we do those.
First character layout: Sniper build

Strength - 5
Perception - 8
Endurance - 5
Charisma - 1
Intelligence - 7
Agility - 9
Luck - 5

Traits selected:
Finesse

Skills checked:
Small Guns
Lockpicking
Speech
What would you consider being "100%"? All unique items collected? All quests done? It doesn't really seem possible, as doing some quests removes the possibility of others.

Hmm.... good point. I'll update the first post. I guess we could do two routes though.
For a speedrun I would suggest using the fast shot trait. You'll never use aimed shot, as it takes more time and all your shots will cost 1 less AP, meaning less turns to kill everything.

Yeah, now that you say that. I tested it a bit, and it would work better. I guess we could also get rid of finesse too, because the overall damage would be more. I'd just be worried about how we could save Tandi from the raiders. The way I always do it is by fighting Garl for her release. You get Tandi and all the stuff in his inventory. Which is Metal Armor, his dessert eagle, and the ammo and alcohol as well. Then I go back and kill everyone. Because the leather armor the raiders give you is the best next to power armor, and it sells well in the stores.

In my opinion, the following rules make more sense for a 100% run:
- complete all quests
- in case of mutually exclusive quests: don't take care of karma and choose the fastest one
Don't think I can be of much help, but just wanted to say I'd love to see a 100% run of this game.

There are some positive karma quests that, while they take longer, give you more quests then the negative karma ones. Would we still go for the fastest ones in that case? Or do the most quests?

I didn't think about it, that's a good question ! That would be interesting to see what  RPG runners usually do in 100% run ...
Okay, how can I get rid of redcoffe's post? I don't trust that link.
Also, I'll probably go for the most quests. Since we are trying to complete as much as possible.
Okay update time. The idea of 100% is shot. I decided to split up the run into two categories, All quests (positive), and All Quests (negative). Since 100% would be really confusing and such. So I'm gonna let this thread die and make a new one for All Quests. This will also let the runner be as good or as bad as they want. So yeah...
Alternatively, you could ask someone to edit your thread so that you can still continue on this, instead of letting it sink into the abyss. Also, for future reference, editing a post is much better than triple posting. Just my two bits. Either way, I'm still excited to see anything come of this!

Heh. Yeah that is a better suggestion. I changed the title, and will probably do editing from now on. Also, I need help routing The Glow. It's a pain, and I know that you can only use RadX on yourself, so I think we'd have to do it after we recruit all the companions, then dismiss the companions except dogmeat, and then go for the Glow.

Okay time to not let this thread die. Routing for this game has been put on the back-burner for me for too long. I might as well just post a skeleton of the route we'd use, just to have something to discuss or add meat onto.

Vault 13
- Exit the cave

Shady Sands
- Talk to Katrina
- Talk to Aradesh
- Convince Ian to join group
- Talk to Curtis the Farmer and solve quest using Tell Me About
- Grab rope
- Talk to Seth and enter Rad Scorpion caves
- Kill all Scorpions in the cave (pick up 1 tail)
- Bring tail to Razlo to make Antidote
- Give Antidote to Jarvis in the back

Vault 15
- Clear 1st floor or just clear a path to the elevator shaft
- Use rope on elevator shaft and climb down
- Get Leather Armor, Rope, and Hunting Rifle
- Use rope on elevator shaft and climb down
- Go to the cave in, collect as much ammo/explosives as you see fit
- Exit the vault

Shady Sands
- Talk to Seth
- Talk to Aradesh

Khans
- Put away weapons and walk to Garl
- Fist fight him for Tandi
- leave

Shady Sands
- Talk to Aradesh

Khans
- Kill everyone
- Save both slaves
- Loot as much as you see fit

Junktown

- If night save before talking to guard, then convince him that it's okay for you to enter

Junktown (cont.)

Bust the Skulz peaceful solution:
- Convince Sherry that she has no future in the Skulz
- One day later she will be in the Crash house, talk to her
- Convince her to testify against the Skulz
- Talk to Lars

Bust the Skulz Violent Solution:

- Talk to Vinnie and agree to steal Neal's Urn
- Steal the urn (get negative karma right now but you can return the urn later on for more than you lose)
- Give Vinnie the Urn
- Tell Vinnie you need time to prepare to enact revenge on Neal
- Tell Lars what is happening
- Kill all the Skulz
- Talk to Lars
- Pick up the Urn from Vinnie's Body
- Return the Urn

(This is as far as I've gotten currently, next would either be The Hub or Necropolis. I have no idea what would be faster, and my brain is oozing onto the floor for the time being because I've been doing this off of mental map)
This is magnificent, keep it up.

Do you stream / record any of these 100% routing attempts? I'd love to see the process.

I unfortunately have no idea how I could stream Fallout 1 using OBS because it becomes full screen when I play it. If there was a way for me to stream it trust me I would. But as of right now I'm kinda SOL.

Okay so I'm thinking about adding in the Heavy Handed trait for the fight with Garl. It give us a bigger cushion for the fight and It's fine for the rest of the game because we use nothing but guns.
Heavy handed sucks. Period. For Garl finesse would be better, plus that extra critical chance rate is awesome, especially because we won't be using any aimed shots. If there is any other way of getting tandi and the slaves out of there safely, please chime in. Because as of right now the route is that we fight Garl 1-on-1.
