thanks to verifier 1's suggestion I shall save some time by sacrificing 2-3 mercenaries to gain the extra evil points needed to max out the evil spells. This will also save time not having to backtrack to Lady Grey's manor. Kudos to verifier 1.

No other updates cause testing the route is annoying as.
All deamon doors ? What about the one that crashes the game ?
Sorry do dig up an old thread, but I'm having a problem with my runs. I am attempting to learn the route (I have from the beginning to Twinblade memorized so far) but for some reason, after the Trader Escort quest my magic will literally lock up, and I can't use ANY of it no matter what I do. It just stops working sometime before I talk to Maze in Oakvale. Any suggestions?
I'm attempting to do some Fable runs myself but I keep running into this problem of terrible terrible mouse lag in the menu's.... it makes it so slow and bad... Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.... I am using the Steam version.

I have no clue Blackwayv Sad
Fable's quite a buggy game - it's a shame they didnt release any updates for it. Not sure how to help with blackwayv problem but FarmI3oy; any actions in the menu is not counted towards the time - this includes purchasing items with traders etc so I wouldn't be too concerned if you cant fix the problem - it wont add any amount to the total time. I used the standalone version to play fable - would be a little less buggy than a stream version.
Aww seems like the fable HD remake will be xbox 360 only - no pc port
I'm working on my Fable TLC any%, and I have a small question, if I mess up at the quest Find the Bandit Seeress on the hilltop and they close the gates should I just scrap the run right there? Or can I still get a decent time? Only one complete run so far and my time is 2hr 1m.
Just out of curiosity has v2 of the 100% run been abandoned? and if so could the videos of the old one be made public? sorry if i am jumping to conclusions i dont really know what the turnaround on something like this would be
The Dork Knight himself.
MrLogandude: that depends on a few things. If it's a SS run, then it's forgivable to a degree. For a segmented run though it's instant reset. As far as being forgivable for a SS, if that's the only error in the entire run then it'll be forgiven. But if that's just 1 problem area on top of a bunch of other problem areas then it's better to just reset. If it's just a practice run and you're working on getting a good time just go for it anyway. You don't want to start constantly resetting until you've really started drilling into super serious attempts.

Videos for the 100% should be public now. Sorry bout that. I wouldn't say it's been abandoned - it's on my to-do list....

I'm just wondering if anyone could confirm this. SDA changed the rules for single segment runs to include resets - this includes saving/loading of a file in midrun as stated in the rules: 'Single-segment: Beats the game in one sitting. Resetting or using save&quits midrun are allowed, but may be a separate category if they speed things up significantly.'
Since that has changed - I'll prob be able to use the hero save glitch to speed up the run in some areas i.e. getting extra copies of the age of will potions. I'm pretty sure that the time clock continues after a hero save so the in-game timer can still be used.

Also, using the hero save glitch you can get multiple copies of the same keys during missions, as in the quest The Graveyard Path within the lynchfield graveyard --> collect the 3 keys, hero/save and collect the 3 keys again. Rinse/repeat?
The other mission that you can quickly collect the same key over multiple times using the hero save glitch is in the mission hobbe cave. You can collect the rose cottage key very, very quickly, again and again - but doing that in a run 50x times would be boring as thou and the hero's profile gets messed up after 17 hero saves I believe.

So the keys could be 'collected' faster this way? Illegitimately, that would be fine? And save time by not collecting the keys that take longer to collect for example the book collecting one.

cheers, looking forward to when/if you post the revised version

I can't confirm it, but it does sound reasonable that it would be accepted as a separate category since it sounds like it will save quite a bit of time. Send one of the admins a PM and see what answer you get if you want something official.

I had a look over the 100% and I realized that using the hero save glitch wouldn't save enough time to be worth a separate category. Firstly, I forgot that the book collecting quest is a 'quest' so it can't be skipped or else the run wouldn't be 100% (slight lapse in thought). Secondly, all the keys are pretty much in the route of the run - there is no major side-tracking for keys that could otherwise be saved time by collecting the same key again in the hobbe cave quest near rose cottage. See video. Thirdly, I thought I could use the glitch to collect additional age of will potions but this is unnecessary since I don't need it anyway - I'm maxed out after the arena anyway (another lapse in thought). Lastly, it seems to take more to time to run the digging spot, save and then reload save game; than it is to fish the keys from the pond (there are 10 keys that are collected via fishing).

Generally it was worth mentioning the idea, anyway.

The only improvements to the run (apart from not having as much bad luck as I did as the one I submitted, which admittedly I guess I should've reset) is to sacrifice more mercenaries instead of divorcing lady grey to gain additional required evil points to attain the skorm's bow (as mentioned by the verifier) and also to do the improvement on attack orchard farm to save ~5-10sec. And maybe, I could skip collecting some of the extra will master elixir potions that I collect. If anyone has any ideas on improving the run or anything I missed post :).
Hello, This is my first post on here. I have just started doing fable TLC any% with a fastest of 1hr 45min so far ,and I want to look into a 100% run. Is there a list of all of the requirements for a 100% run?  Also i saw a vid by D_arnold on youtube with 100% done in 3hr 10 min (awesome time) is that the world record?

Also, I have a bug on my game where whisper won't die in the arena when she should. it takes 2-3min extra and i think i wopuld just save time leaving her alive and getting berserk 4 after the first jack fight. Any suggestions on the bug or answers to my previous questions?

Alright hey guys ValiantNorth here - I don't post much to SDA, but when I do, It's pretty important. I've been speed-running for about 3 years now, mostly OOT, but I love Fable: TLC. It's my ALL TIME favorite game and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. I've been practicing the speedrun and thought to myself.. Man, I can definitely beat this record. Well, turns out I couldn't.

I have broken this game.

I have discovered over 25 glitches in the last 5 hours alone. These Include but are not limited to:
-Clip through ALMOST ANYTHING in the game.
-OOB in EVERY SINGLE MAP. (Including interior maps)
-Clip through ANY Object Door in the game (Except for prison, it's still unskippable)
-Over 3 new ways to clip that are currently undiscovered
-Over 15 undiscovered clips and out of bounds glitches
-A Dummy-Save glitch that allows you to save character stats from a different file to a new game
-Way to skip the Traveller Escort Troll (WIP ATM)
-Way to Skip Twinblades Camp (no gear, no keys, no badges needed)
-Way to skip the Kraken Fight
-Over 10 Minor skips that save almost 5 Minutes collectively
-Way to possibly skip the ENTIRE graveyard quest (Still theory but might be possible)
....And that's just the tip of the iceberg!

I've HIGHLY OPTIMIZED/IMPROVED the following parts of the run:
-Assassin's Rush Rolling has been replaced with Beserker-Rush Rolling (It's like 2x faster. Period.)
-Spell-Purchase order has been changed and optimized
-Quest-Chain order has changed due to the new skips
-Purchasing and Re-selling order improved
-Weapon & Item purchasing order improved
-Many previously known glitches have been worked with and improved upon

With the current run-related glitches I've found (Like skipping twinblades camp almost completely) I've been able to cut almost 20 minutes of in-game time from this run. I'm extremely good at finding and exploiting glitches in games, and one of my favorite games of all time is no exception. I haven't spent a whole lot of time crunching numbers and working out routes but the Any% category has now been re-opened to everyone pretty much, the 1:45 IGT WR will not stand for long with these new discoveries.

If you are currently a Fable: TLC Speed-Runner and would like to get the inside scoop on these glitches that I've found; feel free to private message me on the forums here at SDA and I'll be sure to reply as soon as possible with my contact info, from there I can discuss the details of some of these skips with you.

I just wanted to let all Fable: TLC runners aware that THIS GAME IS NOT DEAD YET. So long as I have a say in it.

I will continue to find huge skips, I will continue to find game-breaking glitches, it's what I do. Expect a WR run from me or someone using my strats, or my new route very shortly.

This glitch occurs when your character walks through a loading zone that contains a Quest Trigger or Cutscene, while he is still considered to be "Sleeping." When you click on a bed, and you walk through a loading zone before the screen has COMPLETELY faded back in, this glitch will occur. I'm assuming this happened to you in Barrow Fields? It's a common mistake. You simply have to sleep, wait a few seconds for the screen to fade back in, then wait a second or two after that to make sure.

Hope that helps anyone else having this issue.

Hey there, I don't know if the current Fable runners post here, but you should check out the following folks:

twitch.tv/blastedt
twitch.tv/etem_t

There's another one I unfortunately forget. BlastedT in particular has been doing runs recently and just got the WR today, 15 real time minutes faster than the SDA run. However, it sounds like what you have found may help bring that down by another substantial chunk.

(edit) In particular I know that Assassin's Rush is still used, but unfortunately I don't know enough about the game to tell you how much of what you've found differs from what the current runners are doing.

(edit 2) Reddit post about his WR run today: http://www.reddit.com/r/speedrun/comments/2jqsme/wr_fable_the_lost_chapters_in_13630_rta129_igt/

I'll post there to direct him this way as well.

Hey, I hold the WR for Fable Any%; really need to get in contact with you if there is anything even close to what you're talking about.

By the way, the WR for it is 1:29 IGT / 1:36:30 RTA, not 1:45.
I liked the pre-edit version of your post. Wink

I don't know if you can see my "private thread" cause I have no idea how the SDA forums work.  And I only just noticed that you are Vulajin again, not Valiant_North, and I've no clue how to delete this post.

Tastefully, for your amusement.

So is there any way to get myself into this new Fable TLC Thread? I thought this was the one, seeing as how it's the only one that shows up on the search.

We don't have a thread because 1. we don't know how to use SDA and 2. IGT is pretty darned silly for Fable, and SDA requires it.

I just pressed the "make private thread" next to your post.  Look in the top right maybe?
SDA prefers in-game time, but would use real time if a convincing case were made. Though the current run uses in-game time, that does not preclude switching to real time for a subsequent submission.

Well, here's my case for real time for Fable:
1. The menus are not counted towards in-game time, and menuing can be and should be optimized.  Optimizing for in-game time involves spending several hours buying and selling apple pies.  It also involves teleporting from place to place, because the time spent in the loading screen and teleportation menus is not counted.  Shorthand: You can teleport from any place in a map to the closest exit in about 5 seconds game time, but 30-40 seconds real time.  This would be used in nearly every map IGT, but is only used once when optimizing RTA under the current route.  Even worse, you can save and load for the same effect outside quests for 0 IGT cost.
2. The in-game time cannot be accessed without watching 10 minutes of credits (the game does not save and show your post-boss in-game time if you skip the credits).
3. The credits count towards in-game time.  Every time is padded 10 minutes and change because of the damned things.
4. There is a glitch that makes in-game time completely incorrect if you make multiple profiles in one session.  Depending on how you reset, this can add a lot of headache.
(Unknown: the Slow Time spell may or may not affect the in-game timer.)
Hello everyone, Etem here, I find strats and speedrun the game (I own WR as of 31/10/2014).
I've been speaking with Blastedt quite a bit, we have both found that In Game Time is just too inconsistent and inaccurate to be the primary timing for Fable.
As well as what he said:
1. Going for In Game time could mean that I buy and sell Pies for 10 minutes until I get 100K gold to skip a few seconds buying the Ebony Bow and go straight to buying a Master Greatsword and Bow.
2. I have gotten runs that are several minutes faster than previous runs real time and found they are the same in game time (for example, I have gotten a 1:45 real time run that still has a 1:37 in game time, which is the same as the current SDA run which is 1:51 in game time)

I feel that there is too menuwork that does not contribute to in game time for it to be the primary timing.

Also as a side note, how would I go about verifying a run for Fable? I got a 1:35:54 real time (1:29 in game time) that was recorded fully, and I still have the (almost lossless) source files.

Thanks for reading.
This page has the link to the submission form ("Submission Form link") and links to other pages with some details about submission: http://speeddemosarchive.com/lang/submit_en.html

Of note, if your recording has any extraneous stuff overlaying the game (for example, splits or a webcam), it will not meet our submission standards. However, if you have those things in the video but not covering the game, they can probably be cropped out (as long as the video is otherwise high enough quality). If you want to double-check before submitting, feel free to post a quality test thread with a sample of your video in the Tech Support subforum.
