Learning all the good, then going evil is a way to learn all the spells if i'm not mistaken.
Hi there.
And being evil is a hell of a lot easier than being good, so that makes sense. Go go Oakvale slaughter and Crunchy Chick feasts!

Which path will you choose?
hahaha, Yeah.. I was a bit suprised when I found out about the chickens.. but that helps with one of the demons doors Wink

My only question is, do you have to have yourself starting the new profile? Cause I'll start recording once it loads up, but It brings up the first load screen, then goes to a black screen, then brings up another load screen. During the Black Screen it stops recording then picks up recording shortly after.
Hi there.
I know it's always best when you start recording at the title screen but I don't see what's wrong with having a non-started profile with the correct options for you already in so you can just start whenever.
Which path will you choose?
If I can't figure out what's up with it, i'll just have to start recording as soon as possible and just post my settings.

I was wondering what the status of this run was? I started tinkering around with the idea of doing one of these myself before I found this.

Also, just some clarification on what's required for a 100% for this. I'm thinking this:

All gold quests
All silver quests
All demon doors
All silver keys
All silver chests
All legendary weapons
All skills/spells

From what I recall, some spells you can't master if you've mastered it's counterpart (eg can't master drain life if heal is mastered, etc). What would happen in these situations?

Also, some quests don't show up until you talk to the right person (kill the guard's brother, help the granny ghost, etc). Are these to be skipped since you don't get them from the guild or what? Then there are the other ones that don't show up as quests period (escort to orchard farm, help the bum outside the guild), what about these quests?

As for recording, Fable sucks when it comes to compatibility. Here's what I've figured out (using fraps anyway): unless you are going to record the game running at 1024x768 (default main menu res) you have to be in-game and load another save to record (fraps hangs the game when fable switches res while recording).

Some strategies that I suggest using:

abuse assassin rush for movement (rush, roll, rush, roll, etc), just watch out for who you're aiming at

for cutlass bluetane: wait until you get skorm's bow and the earth troll shows up outside demon door. charge bow for about a minute, kill it in one shot, should give you enough of a combat mult (you can usually hide in the corner next to the hobbe cave entrance). you could go to the demon door, then teleport somewhere, get a high enough mult, then teleport back, but most of the time it either takes longer, or you lose too much of the mult when you teleport back.

obvious one that I found by accident: turn off the subtitles. really stupid one but if you leave them on, you have to click twice to bypass each line someone says. I cut 30 seconds off of my practice segment with this (man I'm dense).

abuse multi-arrow: a lot of bigger enemies can be killed really quick with skorm's bow and multi-arrow (white balverine, etc)

another stupid one: split up collect orbs and magic button. I don't know why but the game makes you walk if you hold the magic button, which by default is the same button to sop up exp orbs...........dumb idea for runners

I've got a bunch more, just would take up too much room to type Smiley
that sounds pretty helpfull

Good plan. I look forward to your run.

anybody know of a good faq/walkthrough that has every single possible quest that you can take up? I started my own list using a character that I already had near the end of the game, but apparently I've lost out on a couple of the side quests and can't get them anymore (beardy baldy's quest in bowerstone quay).

I found a couple walkthroughs that I can use (gamebanshee's for maps, etc) but I haven't found one that has every possible quest in it. most of them only have the ones that you find in the guild.

It's a completionists' guide to the game. Which means it mentions everything. Every listed and non-listed quest. Every item pickup (i've only noticed one so far that was missed but I haven't read the entire guide yet. plus it was just a carrot). Every chest location. Everything you need. If you think of something not mentioned in it then let me know.
i had a question about this "doing every non-listed quest" thing. does that mean you have to escort the trader to orchard farm more than once? or does doing it one time count as doing it period?
PwNzRd!
I would think only once.
fuck you i wont do what you tell me
the sword of aeons shouldnt be used if you can find a weapon that is nearly as powerful but faster to swing.

its really dumbed down from the original.
The Dork Knight himself.
it might be dumbed down a bit, but I'm hoping by the time I get there I should have speed nearly maxed out, which would make the sword perfectly fine to use

I actually was considering using the Sentinus since it does the most damage out of all the weapons, however I found you flop on the ground if you roll with any two handed weapons (looks real funny when using berserk). So I've scratched that idea, and considering I can do 1000+ dmg with berserk at lvl 3 using Avo's Tear I figure the sword of Aeons would be perfectly fine.

Thx for the guide. Funny though I found the same one about half hour after I posted, so I guess I wasn't looking hard enough.

I figured out how to master every spell possible, but it's very tough to do in a short amount of time. What I plan on doing is starting the game out as evil as I can be so I can master those spells. Then I'm going to run back to Cliffside Path (near Bargate) and lvl the crap outta my char. This actually works twofold. 1) I can get the exp I need to max out almost all of the spells/skills (too bad the segment itself is gonna be really boring) and killing all the undead will bring me into the good side so I can master the good spells. I'll have to use the Buy/Sell money making strategy with my potions to ensure I have enough will potions for that segment. I'm betting about 100 oughta keep me covered, plus I won't have to worry about armor/etc

man, I wish the route planning was as easy as the first 2 segments  :-/
fuck you i wont do what you tell me
if you're strong enough, i dont think you flop with 2h weapons.

you flop with any weapon at the start, but as you get stronger the flopping weapons gradually decrease.
The Dork Knight himself.
true, but even with max'd strength you still flop a bit, not as smooth as a normal roll, and I think you only get about half the distance, so I'm gonna avoid the sentinus unless I need to really beat the stuffing outta ppl Smiley
why even use the sentinus? why not the bereaver? they're both heavy and the bereaver is stronger.
The Dork Knight himself.
never said I wouldn't use the bereaver, but considering I won't be able to use it until the end of the run, I'd most likely only get to use it for the final fight, which is why I'd prefer to use the sentinus as my heavy weapon (which I can also get early in the run)

quick update: I'm still going through the game and planning out the quest order, definitely a lot harder than I originally thought

here's my current problem/issue:

with the current settings I'm using to record (640x480 game res, fraps set to 60fps@full frame) I'm hitting a file size restriction. It seems that fraps limits all file sizes to 3.9Gb. Once the limit is hit, a new file is instantly created and recording resumes. While playing I don't even notice it. During playback there's a small skip of about 2-5 frames. I'm going to send a message to the SDA staff to see what they think, but I was also wondering if anybody knows how to keep fraps from splitting segments. Being that runs are penalized by using more segments, I'd like to avoid having unnecessary time added because fraps limits itself. Btw, the drive is formatted with NTFS, and if memory serves me correctly, files should hit a limit at around 2Tb (just don't quote me on that).
PwNzRd!
I wouldn't worry about it. If I remember right, it's no big deal, and you won't be penalized for it happening. Actually, when I recorded with Fraps I never lost frames (I think) when the switchover happened. However, you still might wanna ask just to be safe, but I figure it will be harmless.
Hi, I'm trying to make a Fable: TLC  speed run, and I've got to
the arena in less than 45 min. If you are planing to make one
the best thing to be is a evil battle mage, and only using legendaries because they don't take money, leaving more money for armor and potions. Why you should be a mage is because of the "Stop Time" spell, making it easier to get through a level without running into monsters. By the end of the month my personal best should be about an hour and a half., I hope your's is better. And to make it 100% use the archaeologist glitch, when tour at the quset fish at the pond right next to the "H-I-T-S" Demon Door you'll get a silver key.
Do as many times as needed to get as many silver keys as you need to open all the chests.

Or unless I am missing something, do the same at Orchard Farm, much earlier in the game.

Though if that is allowed for 100% I somewhat doupt.  Seems to me to be similar to the Gold Skultas (Really, really need to learn the spelling of that) in Zelda: Ocarina of Time.  I.E You can do the glitch to get the rewards earlier, but you still need to actually get them the legit way.  Though I am not Radix of course, so do not take that as fact.

quick update

my old comp died on me shortly after I started the 100%, so I had to wait until I could build a new comp. now that my system is up and running (2.4ghz quad, 8800gtx, etc etc) I should have no more problems recording.

on a side note, I've actually put the 100% on the backburner for a bit. there's still a lot of the game that I can't remember, so I'm gonna start with a straight run of the core quests, get that done first, then go back and start a 100%

of course I also lost all my old footage, so I can't even post what I had (which really wasn't much) so it'll take a bit to get some low qual vids up
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
seems interesting, i always thought it would be a good speedrunning game, especially with all of the different stat alignments.
