Elliot Quest is a recent Zelda 2 inspired adventure-platformer, a sorely overlooked gem. Since it draws on so elements of so many great speedrun games, surely this game would be worthy of running too!
The game has a ton of content but most of it is optional. As far as I can tell, none of the optional upgrades are required for any bosses, or really do much in speeding them up. So the route should be pretty simple:
1. Get through forest, get through wind temple.
2. Get the bomb bag.
3. Go to the desert, proceed to the fire temple, complete it.
4. Go to the waterfall, pick up the amulet.
5. Go through both the towns, stealing all the money, then repair the bridge and (should have enough gold) upgrade arrows.
6. Make your way to the earth temple, complete it.
7. Go through the dark forest.
8. Complete the ice temple.
9. Go to the final island, get through everything, beat Satar, bad ending achieved.
There's a few things that are going to need further fleshing out. First is the gold/item route: every chest opened costs time, but I don't doubt the arrow upgrade saves enough time to make up for it (if only in avoiding deaths). You get a number of potions for free, use them wisely.
Second is the feather item. It returns you to the overworld screen instantly, which might save a lot of time in some areas (perhaps the waterfall?) I haven't tested this item thoroughly, and it does eat into your gold stash significantly (30 gold per feather really adds up).
Third, death abuse. Dying puts you back at the last save point, with all progress saved and enemies reset. This can skip a decent amount of rooms in some areas.
Oh, and the shield from the wind dungeon is entirely optional.
If it might inspire some people, here's the first major skip I've found:
