I bet many of you have already thought of this, but as it could cut quite some time from the e3m5 ER and NR, I belive it's worth reconsidering.
The idea is to jump through the trigger that opens a wind tunnel just like on tRR, but instead of using granades, one'd have to jump from the door frame nearby boosted by some monster. You have a death knight down there and a scrag (only on nightmare).
http://www.freewebs.com/supimpaquake/e3m5%5Ftrick.dz Here you'll find a demo of me making it on hfr 0.0025 using two dk spikes, a similar demo using only one spike (but I don't reach the trigger), two miserable attempts at hfr 0 from the beginning (to show how to get in position) and the saved game I used for practising. All on easy skill.
I only managed to reach the trigger twice, the first one I wasn't recording. I guess the next step is to do the trick at full speed (using a saved game first), if someone did this, then the improvement is definetly possible. However, it's obviously very difficult and boring, getting such a trick in an actual demo would be really impresive though.
There are also some alternatives concerning ogre granade jumps, fiend pushs and slope jumps, but I can't think of any practical solution.
Hope someone will be able to do something useful with this
