Should 3DS users boot up DS(iware) with Start+Select to activate 1:1 mode?
Yes (3)
No (9)
What is that mode? (0)
DS Dictator
Since direct recording from a 3DS is now possible. Not only players can record 3DS but also lower resolution games like DS, DSiware and Virtual Console.

The big question is should runs use the 1:1 pixel mode which is activated by holding Start+Select during bootup?

While the answer might be a likely yes but.... you got to realise from the player's half is that, using the touch screen in 1:1 mode is very small and playing GB games in 1:1 is really small, that it's better to try and maximize the top screen from the actual PC/Laptop screen.

I've got some screen shots attached and 2 videos from the Zip. I'll upload a NES game footage via 3DS soon

Willing to teach you the impossible
Running a game on a small screen is hard enough as it is, why make it harder? Sure the resolution would be true, but recording in the 3DS native resolution should not be an issue. No vote. TASVideos anyone?
I think the native resolution is fine Tongue
Is the scaling up reversible? It presumably uses some deterministic algorithm, so it might be possible to undo it.

If it is reversible, I guess there's no reason to let the runner choose.
Fucking Weeaboo
Honestly, I think either way works fine. Trimming GB/GBC games would definitely be easier and cleaner with it NOT at native resolution.

As for DS games, doesn't look like that much of a difference, but having comparitive videos (especially with lots of motion) would make it easier to judge.

Yep.
It's the same thing. The video can be expanded to higher resolution anyhow by expanding the window of the player the video's playing in. It's not actually resolution, it's just up-scaled to fit a bigger screen. There's no reason to require it.

Not a walrus
Unless I'm misunderstanding something, 1:1 mode would probably be required for the same reason that not stretching GBP games is required. Unless it's an integral scaling factor. So requiring it would be good for video quality, but annoying to run games on?

I don't know how much of a difference it makes in the final video, though, so I can't really say.
