Ruling the cosmos!
So the story is that the other day I made a post here in the Gaming board asking if anybody actually ran this game, since I didn't know I was curious. I got a relative answer that at least answered why I couldn't find any info on it from Google, but everybody that responded seemed to think that I was interested in running the game, but I thought "nope, I cannot be bothered to route out a seven hour game and go play it", but I need a bigger summer speedrunning project than what I had originally planned, and since a bunch of people thought that I wanted to run it initially, I feel obligated now.

So moral of the story is that I'm seriously considering learning to run Dragon Quest IX. However this is still an extremely daunting task for someone as young into speedrunning as I am. So, I am asking for someone here, a partner in speed, to join me in this quest of routing and learning Dragon Quest IX. Anyone game?
Thread title:
Hi this is something I've been considering for a long time but due to losing my cart never got round to starting. Have found it since I've moved house so was going to be going into the planning stage eventually. So obviously more than willing to help starting to route this game but will prob need a couple playhtroughs to get back in the swing of things. First question I need to consider is wether to go solo or have other party members
I think in this game going solo may be a better option given you can get EXP so much quicker and essentially can tank most of the battles. On the other hand the game is specifically made to have party members, and especially as most bosses get double turns it's possibly hard to manage solo, especially for RTA (it's not an issue segmented, in fact there's a FAQ about a solo speedrun on Gaefaqs for segmented)
Yeah have read the solo speed run guide  it's a shame that the author didn't have time checks for each segment of the game so we would have something to compare against. Most of my previous attempts last summer were restart within 20 of minutes as rng wasn't playing nice and couldn't get through hexagoon at level 3
