Nintendo are the Gods of gaming
First of all, I'm not complaining about how files are hosted, I understand that Archive.Org host the files for free and all. Smiley

It's just that any links from Archive.org Europe go at 40kb/s max for me when it used to go at 120kb/s. All my other download speeds are fine, so I'm not sure why these are so much slower.

Is it a problem my end or is Archive's server just limiting speeds these days?
Thread title:
You're probably not actually using a Europe server - 40k/s is about what I get when the link directs you to a US server.

Content on the US servers doesn't immediately get mirrored to the Europe servers, so the Europe link just sends you to the US until that happens.
Hmm, except where a particular (eg ia123456.eu) server's specified in the download link, I guess. The Europe links used to be some generic www.eu.archive.org thing which would redirect you to Europe if possible, otherwise the US.

Actually the generic links were www.archive.org/download-eu/ but I don't use those anymore. Nothing I've added in the last 6 weeks or so has been copied to europe.  :-[ They're aware of the issues too.

There's not much I can do unless the everyone is willing to donate $2000 a month for a dedicated 100 Mbps connection separate from archive.org.

So will they ever get transfered or are people from Europe a bit screwed?
I don't know why but my download speeds at the us server are horrible.. i get only ~12kbs of possible 250kbs
only when i use my download accelerator i get good speed with 10 jets(=>flashget)
but if a file is available at the europe server i get full speed even with the browser.

My speeds are also horrible for the US server. I only download about 12k per sec. My internet isn't very fast, but I still usually download 25-30k per sec.
Im getting the same problem...i ALWAYS used to download the Speedruns here at the very least 135kb (and at the most 200+kb).  Im in the US so im assuming im grabbing them off the US server...just what in the word is going on. O.o  This place is like my second television (well..late night anyways..)
what?
well due to the fact that Archive has been downloaded from so much lately it's eating into the file

basically the more people trying to download the same file the slower it'll go so if you want it to go nice and fast wait a few days while everyone else gets it first that way there'll hopefully be less people trying to download hence yours will go faster

hope that clears some things up Smiley
one-armed bandit
I used to get 700-800kb/s from Europe but I only get around 100kb/s from the US Sad It's so slooooow, copy the files to EU Radix!! =P
welcome to the machine
Stop d/ling HQ files of ~5 hour long runs. Tongue
MGS for PS1 forever.
As long as I get at least 2.5 k/s I don't care. Wink

Archive told me today: "the EU<==>US sync is "frozen" right now because we have run out of space in the EU."
You don't need all those several-gig-large HQ runs. Low quality is usually good enough for watching!

Yeah, but even LQ takes a while with <30kbps

Everyone repeat after me:

There's not much I can do unless the everyone is willing to donate $2000 a month for a dedicated 100 Mbps connection separate from archive.org.
Angered Me, You have!
There's not much Radix can do unless everyone is willing to donate $2000 a month for a dedicated 100 Mbps connection separate from archive.org.
