Haha thanks. I did mess up one knee in this run, but no one is perfect right? Tongue

If the 11:35 run gets submitted I will say that the last boss fight is pure pwnage, a full 5 seconds faster than my 12:01.

That would require too much luck/near perfect execution. If you add up all my best individual mission times they total 10:42. That leaves 27 seconds for sub 11:10. That would mean I have 3 seconds per mission for mistakes/randomness. Essentially any mistake you make will cost from 1-3 seconds (or more sometimes) and so do the random elements. So you basically only get 1 minor mistake per mission and that does not account for randomness. Sub 11:10 could randomly happen but it is not what I am shooting for. I know I can get 11:2x and any 11:1x would just be a bonus. I am basically just waiting for the time I get 10:50ish after 8 missions (which I can get frequently enough) and have a 33-38 second shadow boss fight to give me 11:2x as the final time.

Having said all that I think that there are runners on this site that are much more talented and dedicated than myself and if they chose to could get sub 11:10 and possibly even sub 11:00.

regardless if this is true or not, i've played this game consistently over the years with my brothers and i have NEVER seen anyone even come close to the precision you display. it's already tricky enough getting that knee out, but to get it out EVERY TIME like you would require mind-numbing practice and great passion. there are a lot of subtle strategies involved but what this game boils down to is execution.

would you ever consider doing a double dragon 3 run?? that game is pretty tough as nails AND it doesn't have the Incredible Knee. the best strats would be abusing chin as soon as you get him and just plain kicking ass. the last boss is sooo damn hard though. i can easily get to the last boss but she's just ridiculous.

Thanks for the kind words, it helps me to keep striving for 11:2x. It is true what you said about execution. I have trouble executing consistently (strats, not the knee) throughout a run and usually have at least one mission that is botched. I might put a cash bounty up for sub 11:00 and see if there are any takers.

I doubt I would ever do Double Dragon III. That game was terribly difficult and I did not enjoy playing it IIRC. I might consider doing Double Dragon but I think there are a few people running it atm. I will also be attempting a 2 player Double Dragon II run this August with jprophet22 (see: 1 player TAS) who is a good friend of mine and will be in town. We are shooting for 10:30ish but I have no idea how well we will actually do.

I might, mission 7 is pretty ugly and 9 is no gem. It is really difficult to get a run where all levels are solid, 1 always gets fubar'ed. I figure 11:1x would be my limit but I have no qualms submitting the 11:20 if I cannot top it.

11:17 is my new best time...Fairly solid run but I am gonna go for low teens or 11:0x since I have had a few shots a those times but messed up late in the run.

i'm still having a hard time figuring out how you could improve your old time by almost a minute. it's just so silly...is the last boss fight really going your way or are there any other shortcuts you discovered? it seems like you have the platforming portions down to perfection and you missed few knees. one day i'd like to try a double dragon III run if i figure out a consistent way to beat the last boss.

Most of the improvements come from better over all execution and upgraded strats (missions 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, & 9). Large chunks of time (10 seconds or more) can be consistently saved in 1,5 & 8 which is generally where the bulk of the improvements are seen.

The last boss fight is actually only 1 second faster in my 11:17 which is a shame because I had a TAS quality (00:31) fight in an 11:21 recently.

If you ever did a dd III run I would salute you, that game is the opposite of easy.
