Ok I was just wondering does your culture (ex: me being partly Bolgarien) have any effect on how you play. Cause theres alot of stereo  types of asiens will beat anyone there fastest, etc... Sorry for this topic I was just bored (Lock it if ya want man) Later.
Thread title:
nibble nibble nibble.
That's an extremely difficult question to answer as I've never experienced how other culture's play games; however I suppose that my personal socialization by society and has effected how I play games as well as my personality. So, much like my personality, when I play a game I tend to take as much time as I need and find absolutely every secret and different ways to play the game as possible. Gosh, I played Mario 3 so many times, so many different ways...so many Game Genie codes. I'm sure culture does, but one can only observe how his upbringing shaped him. ...sorry, long post, I'm in the middle of a research paper.

I think one can only answer this question for player other than oneselfs. Although there are some (almost) accepted facts.

1. Koreans are inhuman. They just have to be, considering that in any game that makes it to the top of their favorites there is almost immediately no competition left outside of korea. (Examples include Starcraft, Warcraft, Go/Baduk...)

2. I understand that germans are considered the pest of the battle.net. Of course I wouldn't go that far (since I'm german) but it's true there is a huge bunch of assholes out there...

From personal experience I'd like to add that I've very positive experience in gaming with nordic people. I don't mean record times, but about now well I can get along with these people ingame.

So to answer your initial question: Yes culture shapes how you play games.
Jack of all Trades
No.

Hehe, bold statement was almost intentional.
I read an article somewhere a few years ago, concerning the computer infrstructure changes in korea changing the net behaviour of them. (I've got psychology as a minor subject)

I can try to digest it out of memory:
- Starting 1990 korean officials thought it would be a good idea to get people accustomated with new tech stuff, but knew noone could afford it.
- So they saw to it that internet cafes got profitable, and got them decent connection to internet.
- As a result internet cafes grew to the number one social meeting centre, and many a korean youth spent all his free money to spend time there.

Note: it's been in fact a few years since I read this, so single facts can be grossly off, but the overall tone is correct.

As an addition there seems to be some kind of competitional mentality involved, which increases the effect even more.

In recent times broadband connection, well, outclass the US anyway (clicky, comment, from todays /.)

Talk about culture not affecting gameplay...

I've heard reports (don't ask me for confimration, since I have none) that Starcraft is so huge in korea that they televised some of the big matches, and it got good ratings.

(of the-elite.net)
Erm... they're constantly televising SC games in Korea, and they constantly get great ratings.  Watch these vids for examples:
