Yeah, I'm thinking about doing a DMC run on Normal, but without using any items (Vital Star, Devil Star, Untouchable, Holy Water, etc.) I will be using the Legendary Dark Knight mode. Of course the current time will not be beaten, but I won't be using any cheap tricks like using Holy Waters to kill off bosses. Anyone interested?
Thread title:
I would watch it.

Would you use cash for other things like weapon upgrades or would it be naked run? Also; what is Legendary Dark Knight mode? Can't seem to what find parts of the game that mode modifies.

Yeah, would it be some sort of low% run or just a no special items run? I'm not sure if low% would work for this, but it could include excluding EVERY item and ability that you don't need. That would be interesting ;D.

Either way, it's DMC so it'll be fun to watch.

Hey. Well, you'd probably have to avoid buying anything if you want this as a special category (low %).

If you bought anything, or picked up anything unnecessary, it would probably be considered a "pure speed" run, and you'd lose time by not abusing the "cheap tricks".

Then again, I don't know how Radix would see this, but I think that makes sense.

Arch, the Legendary Dark Knight is Sparda (in my opinion anyway). He's like Dante, except:

1. He's cool.
2. He gets different battle music at times.
3. He looks like Dante during the first 2 Mundus fights when he uses Alastor's Devil Trigger.
4. He gets a sword called "Yamato", which allows him to start with Devil Trigger (still needs to be filled though).

Well, currently I'm thinking of buying a couple Purple and Blue Orbs, but maybe I could avoid that somehow. I'm obviously going to have to buy some abilities, otherwise it wouldn't be that speedy, would it? I should also mention that it will be single segment. Wink
Hey. Well, if you plan to buy stuff, you might as well go for the tricks I used for the most speed. Remember to go for a sub-hour time, since it's possible and slightly easier with Sparda (due to the Mission 1 advantage).

Good luck to you, and remember to ask me about things if you need any help. Grin

Ok, I'm going to attempt a No Item No Ability Run. Is anyone still interested?
Hey. Go for it if Radix qualifies it as a low percentage run. It'll be interesting to see how you manage to beat the game (in one sitting) that way, and the speed will make it even better.

I must say though, watching a typical 5 slash combo will get boring, so you may want to throw in a High Time (ground only, replacing the 5th hit) every so often.

I wouldn't bother doing the 4 hit + High Time (air) + pistol shots + slash (in case you considered it), since it's a waste of time. Puppet launching may be pretty useful though.
I'd watch it. Mainly because I'm interested in seeing how the bossfights look.

Alright. I have an even better idea for a DMC run. How about a Force Edge - Ebony and Ivory only run? I will be playing as normal Dante and will be buying some items (Blue Orbs i geuss). Is anyone interested in this idea? Or would you prefer my original plan. Personally I think this run would be harder and more impressive.
Hey. I don't know for sure, but I think Radix would say that using only those weapons is your loss (not a low percent qualifier). I prefer your original plan though.

Oo boy, this is a lot harder than I thought. Especially Nelo 3 and Mundus.....

yeah, i changed my mind, i guess im not going to do the run. Its way too hard and i dont have the time to work on it a lot. Not only that but its making me lose my hair sooner than i should by about 60 years. Id love to do it, but i think ill leave it to pro's like Molotov.  Wink
Hey. If it gets too hard (which I can see both being insane), you could always try a highly segmented run (one for each mission).

There's still one problem with doing that though, and that's the pressure for less mistakes (more = worse).

Where was the farthest spot you made it to on both run ideas?

Thanks for the compliment, but I'll pass on another Devil May Cry run (that game is ridiculously dead). Grin

Well,  I havent really tried the Force Edge - Handgun only run. But on the No Ability No Item run I have got to Mundus (hard hard hard), but that is with dieing on Nelo 3 a lot of times (dang his magic flying swords)
Hey. Ugh, Nelo's flying swords are pure evil. The only decent ones are the vertical line swords, since those simply require a roll or two to dodge. I find the worst to be the shield swords... O_o

What strategy did you use on him? I prefer pounding him with Alastor Devil Trigger (4 hit combo ending with a ground High Time), but that wouldn't be very effective with only 3 runes (and his Stinger gets me a lot).

If you did decide to pick up the run again, I'd recommend watching Zeno's Dante Must Die! Sparda No Damage/S Rank run. Sure, it's segmented, but he still needed to dodge everything.

I would've mentioned a good video for a Griffon 2 strategy (if it helped), but I pitched my Dante No Damage run (all 14 missions of it). I still have it on DVD though...gwa ha.
