I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
This game is really short, and I've managed to get a time of 39:06 on story mode with Rookie difficulty.

I could probably manage a 40-something minute run in single segment, and I'm trying now to see if I can get under 35 minutes doing it level by level. The method I use right now is to do the story sequentially, level by level to see if I can beat my old times. Redoing every level from the start menu will force you to start with only your basic pistols, and the last 4 or so levels really benefit from a cumulative arsenal that can be gotten from story mode.

There's no real strategy other than memorizing where enemies will ambush you from and killing them quickly, since you pretty much have to kill everybody. There are plenty of times I could save 10-20 seconds targetting exploding barrels and cars, but I can't because the target lock-on refuses to cooperate.

My general strategy is to just shootdodge and kill as many enemies as possible, since shootdodging provides the best accuracy, as opposed to just running up to enemies and killing them. In the case of the last few levels I can disarm enemies later when I run out of adrenaline instead of shooting them normally because it goes faster. Bosses are easy to deal with, and I try to save up shotgun ammo for them. I'll use the dog on them sometimes, since it knocks them down, saving me time that I'd usually use to dodge their shots.

I don't have any videos offhand, but I may in the near future once I find somebody with a PS3. :p

My times are taken from the count at the end of the level, and I don't think I can beat any of my new times (except for maybe Rooftops, since I spend some unnecessary time gathering extra ammo). When I do get videos done, I'll try my best to match them.

My times (old):
Beer Barn: 1:29
Pink Starfish: 3:48
The Grove: 2:59
Train Yards: 3:48
Back Streets: 2:31
Under Rink: 3:11
Rooftops: 3:58
Villa: 3:40
Old Church: 4:25
Abattoir: 2:51
Dockyard: 2:44
Mansion: 3:42

My times (current, WIP):
Beer Barn: 1:16
Pink Starfish: 3:15
The Grove: 2:27
Train Yards: 3:03
Back Streets: 2:17
Under Rink: 3:00
Rooftops: 3:48
Villa: 2:56

My mate has this and I played it yesterday. I'll borrow it from him and help you out.

Total set of new times:
Beer Barn: 1:16
Pink Starfish: 3:15
The Grove: 2:27
Train Yards: 3:03
Back Streets: 2:17
Under Rink: 3:00
Rooftops: 3:48
Villa: 2:56
new
Old Church: 3:54
Abattoir: 2:37
Dockyard: 2:33
Mansion: 2:38

Total time is 33:44

The only improvements on my times I can think of are killing the biker boss's guards in The Grove faster. Pink Starfish is pretty hard to get a fast time on, since enemies spawn upstairs in the first area. Villa can be improved, but not by much - the only thing that could make or break the time is the open courtyard flanked by 3 spawn areas. Old Church could probably be improved by killing the Militia Boss more recklessly. Abattoir, Dockyard and Mansion can be improved by a small margin. Abattoir's time hinges on the stairwell area, and Dockyard and Mansion rely on killing the bosses fast enough.
everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music
Sorry for such a noob question, I was curious. Is this game analogous to Dead to Rights 1, 2, or a new game? I beat the first game and I honestly remember nothing of the entire experience besides pushing the final boss (whoever he was) into a furnace. Grin

This game is supposed to be a new game, but a lot of areas and gameplay are recycled from Dead to Rights 2.

I've been practicing a bit and the time in the first level is pretty hard to beat/replicate.

I'm getting this tomorrow.

I found a glitch that speeds up bossfights a lot, but it's very hard to do.

Bosses run away periodically once you deplete enough of their health bar. The glitch involves disarming a boss, which can't be done normally and will kill the boss instantly. You have to time a gun dive so that while you're flying over top of the boss and shooting them you will trigger their running away cutscene, and then hit the disarm button before/during the cutscene and afterwards the boss will be killed with a disarming move.

In the beer barn you can skip the first 2 gates.

how?  Huh?

Also, I just found out that you can skip going down the stairs after you go to the hostage room in Pink Starfish  Tongue you can just jump down into the area with enemies, which will save 10 or so seconds

I'll make a video.                                                                                                                                    Completed this in 1h. Your times are good. Planning on recording?
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Yep, I plan to record.

Apparently I just need S-video cables and just a PSP Slim, not a PS3. That's good news.
It's-a me, Stalin!
The previous posts were all on my PSP, hence them being short.

I've uploaded the video, here it is:

Hopefully it saves some time, upload your some segments to YouTube once you have the equipment, i'm eager to see this run Smiley

Very nice! That'll save some time.

I found more stuff like that, but it doesn't save time (like the dockyards level) but there might be other levels where that will shave off at least 10 seconds each time since I won't have to deal with enemies.

Right now I'm just waiting to get composite cables.

I did some research, you did the faq for this game, right?
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Yep.

Enemy locations and weapons they carry never change. I think a few times the spawns are random and can be manipulated, but most of the time it remains the same.

I honestly don't see myself using this shortcut... it's way too hard to position Jack so that he goes over the fences on the first try...
It's-a me, Stalin!
It's not! Just keep at it.

I'll have time to practice on Friday, and that's when I'll record stuff.

I want to try and see what I can do on a SS Challenge run - my best time is around 54 minutes on that.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I can save about 7-10 seconds doing the boss disarm glitch. So far it's only worked in The Grove and Mansion, and it works about 30% of the time....
It's-a me, Stalin!
Any updates? When are you getting these composite cables??

Got the slim PSP and the composite cables today. Recording starts tomorrow.

Still on the fence as to whether or not I should do a segmented level by level run or a challenge run....I think I want to challenge myself more (no pun intended) with a challenge mode run since it basically forces you to do the game in a single segment, starting every level with only your starting weapons. This means ammo conservation is no longer a problem, but at the same time the last level is made much more difficult as a result. I might get 35-37 minutes as a time.

Without practice since Monday, I managed to get a Challenge Mode time of 34:35. I think I'll try a SS Challenge Mode run. It wasn't too bad, save for the last level - constantly running out of ammo  Angry Lips Sealed

The gate trick in Beer Barn saves ~ 5 seconds. It's just annoying have to run back to the second gate in order to trigger the enemies.

There's a similar trick in Back Streets, but it's harder to do... you know the ramp/gate part? You can skip the gate, but you have to constantly dive back and forth to get yourself onto the very thin fence to dive over the gate, and you're going to spawn enemies.... Jack has a tendency to face enemies instead of where I want him to. Tongue This trick doesn't save any time (yet)

Edit: I got it to work, but it still takes at least 2-3 tries to get Jack onto that fence. The trick saves 10 seconds, and I could probably save more if I didn't disarm the MP5 enemy - his gun comes in very handy though.

couldn't get any recording done due to myriad of technical problems.... that was my only free day too

I'll post my strategies if anybody wants to continue this...

No! Overcome the tech diffs - what are they?
