Hello everyone!
I have been wanting to speed run a game for a long time and I finally decided to take the plunge and im looking for information on Claymates speedruns/strats/etc. Im having a hard time finding much information at all aside from the TAS emulator record video by QuietKane. If anyone has any information on running this game or anyone I could talk to ide be really thankful. ALSO if anyone has any general tips for a new speed runner/streamer I am taking all the help I can get.

Thanks!
Mikey
Thread title:
I'm planning on picking this up as a new speedgame as well and only found the TAS's.  There were a couple of old speedrun videos on twitch back in the day, but they got caught in the video purge and don't appear to be uploaded anywhere else.  I figured I'd try and see what I could emulate from the old TAS and go from there, while still occasionally looking for more videos.

Yeah I figured it either isnt ran often enough to be posted, or some kind of purge happened. Im not really interested in the warp strats, but ill def be taking a look at the movement to see if I can work in. Good to see someone else taking interest in this game too. let me know if ur ever streaming or recording ur progress, the more people with input the better. Thank for the response and good luck with ur runs Cheesy
This seems like a good title to run, although not very exciting to watch. Will you be doing all the levels, or will you be taking the warps?

Every TAS video has commentary on the mechanics, so I recommend reading it for some advice on the best route. It also has animal specific advice. There's a lot of one-frame time savers involving gems and killing enemies that probably won't matter in live runs.

Like ERROR stated, it seems like the best place to start is to try to follow the route in the TAS and identify the feats too precise to repeat in live play. The mouse parts seem to be where you'd gain the most time, but would also be the hardest parts since the mouse moves uncontrollably fast. Taking damage without the shield ball causes you to lose your animal form, which in the case of losing the mouse will instantly add seconds to your time.

yeah theres def some interesting mechanics that can kill runs easily, mouse speed being one of them, but if u learn to consistently control it i think it would make it a more interesting game to watch. I would plan on doing all levels, no warps. im gonna read up a bit more and start doing some casuals soon, see if i cant get some of the tricks down. thanks for the responses Cheesy

I'm interested in running it because I think the mouse levels would be really entertaining to both play and watch, but you may be right in that it might not be that entertaining overall.  But I'm willing to give it a shot.

I'll probably do one more casual playthrough in the next couple of weeks before I do any serious research and practice and the like (if I don't get distracted by the Big 20 race or the Zelda tournaments), but I'll give this a serious go before too long.
