Is PJ
Hey everybody! This past weekend I was at PAX East with some others and stumbled across this game, Chariot. This is hands down the best "new" game I've tried at PAX. The mechanics seem simple at first, but it quickly becomes apparent how complex they can be with practice. While it is intended for local co-op (and best experienced playing co-op), it can be played single player.
The reason I mention this is because they, Frima Studio, are currently running a speed running contest for this game, with a $1000 cash prize to the winner, and $500 to second place. More details here: http://chariotgame.com/blog/chariot-speed-run-contest/
The contest is for the fastest time on just one level, The Prismatic Eye (level 2-5). This contest was originally intended for a co-op team to complete, but has since been changed to allow for single-player submissions. A co-op team will be at an advantage, but a well-optimized single player time could easily be competitive. I understand this is a rough time because of Mystery Tournament 6 and SGDQ submissions opening up soon, but the deadline has been extended to April 6th, 11:59PM EST so it would not conflict as much.
There is plenty of time to pick this up and work on it, and with an actual cash prize there's really no reason not to! I will probably start working on it myself this week. I'm looking forward to seeing others hopefully pick this game up!
Edit: Chariot does not have netplay, just local co-op. I know there are several pairs of runners that live close enough for local co-op, though. I'd love to see a good co-op run of this game.
