Now a hit show on the CW
I think a lot of us would like to improve our own runs, but it's hard to feel as motivated when you're only competing against your own time (unless you're Stanski ;)). I know that personally, while my Dynamite Headdy and (soon to be posted) TJ&E2 runs aren't perfect, I'm not likely to improve them anytime soon. But the minute someone else beats my times, it's on 8)

To add something a little more substantial to the Metroid Prime bounty, I'll offer $20 for the sub-hour SS. It's not much, but I'm not exactly rich.
Long live SF64!
When you look at the speedrunning community at large, most people have a substantial list of runs they'd like to accomplish, but such feats of gaming accomplishment are really fairly rare, and if anything gets done it will be the first or maybe second on the list ... thus games that are less likely to be run (like Star Fox 64 100%) might be coaxed to move up someone's list with a little encouragement...

Take Zelda legend TSA for example.... he had tons of other games he would have liked to run, but he basically gave them up for Zelda... granted there's probably no amount of money that could've seperated TSA and Zelda in his prime, but if anyone has the potential and the desire to beat my runs and give me a good run to watch in turn, then I'd be willing to provide some incentive if that's what it takes to put such an unlikely title as Star Fox 64 on their to-do list...

I want to see the game mastered, and the game is still being torn apart in the high scores arena... new strategies in Aquas (!) lead to a new World Record high score of over 2600!  I'd love to see someone else come in and help break new ground on the 100% speedrun... afterall, high score runs assume life spamming, which makes that kind of record a long drawn-out process (I took 3 days for my high score), so I think speedrunning is a great thing for fans of the game to flex their skills in a different way.  If shelling out some money to make it worth someone' s effort to improve the overall mastery of this game, worldwide, then I'll gladly donate to the cause.

That and I want to watch myself get whooped!  That's part of what I love about speedrunning, but I've been deprived of being speed-whooped at my favorite game!

Sorry for rambling... just sharing some late night thoughts...
Just wondering if this should lose its sticky?  There doesn't seem to be any action in this thread.
don't think greedy people should have to hunt for it.

Speedruns aren't made overnight.

I've had 6 or 7 people contact me about death egg strats, none of them have been able to get it though. So there is action, just not in this thread.

They will steal your money Stanski.

And later on. Someone may want to do a new bounty. So sticky is good. If the right bounty would come. I would go for that one too. Probably.
100% runs=great to watch
Considering my upcoming bounty has a very good chance of being over two dozen in strength...I also favor this being stickied.  8)
If I had the money, I would bet $60 on a 5:01 SMB. SS run.
Existence as you know it is over
5:01 (SDA timing) isn't humanly possible.

Yeah. 5:03 is hard enough.

I know. But if someone on SDA could pull it off it would be awesome.

What part of "isn't humanly possible" do you not understand?

I UNDERSTAND that. Just saying though.

Then you're ultra lucky that a few SDA members also happen to be TASers.

da dadadummmmm ...

And the winner of the $50 bounty for Okami race videos is ...

groobo!!

He has been paid.

The best part is that he said I could make his videos public:
Race with Kai in 2:12
Inner Yoshpet Forest in 2:15

Was anyone else working on race videos for Okami?  If not, then I think that's the end of that bounty, because groobo's videos are more than satisfactory.  I could never go through the second part of the forest unscathed like he did, not to mention his awesome route.

Awesome vids groobo, maybe you should put them somewhere more permanent than filefront, google videos, youtube or something? and link in the first post so people know that the bounties have been paid and can see the results?

Also would like to add a bounty since someone at TSC claims it, $75 for :18 in Emerald Hill 1, Sonic 2. I don't think its possible (I can't do it), someone else says they've already done it, so prove me wrong.

I updated the first post with stanski's suggestion and his new bounty.

groobo, if you want me to I'll gladly put your videos on YouTube, or you can.

edit: uploading the videos to YouTube ...

I'll pay $50 to the first person who accomplishes a no-death speedrun of Ikari Warriors (NES, US version, NTSC).  The run has to be verified and posted on SDA.  Obviously, no cheating or cheat codes will be allowed.  Also, I don't know if such glitches exist, but no using glitches that allow you to skip portions of the game.

I realize that accomplishing a no-death run of this game is a near-impossible feat, so it's worth more than $50, but that's all I can spare.

I really hate Ikari Warriors.  The controls are horrid.  And the game, in general, is ridiculously sluggish.  I've never been able to get past the second level without using the cheat code.

I really want to see someone dominate this game.

Wonder if this guy could do it:

From the looks of his skills, and the fact that he's japanese :P, I'd bet he could.
Hi! I'm andrewg!
I've never even attempted to beat that game. I played it for 1 minute and didn't like it at all.

My feelings on The Demon Rush
Stanski, I don't think you watched the whole video.  Around 7 minutes in, the guy dies.  And if that guy died, then what hope do the rest of us have?  Cry
Hi! I'm andrewg!
I'm sure you could do it with some practice maybe??
wise fwom yo gwave
I know he died, but I still think its possible, albeit insane. Some of the guys at #tasvideos said they didn't think it would be impossible or be like putting your balls in a blender, or whatever your analogy was.
Cigar Man
After about two weeks of playing Ikari Warriors, I actually beat the first stage without dying.

Hopefully, knowing this will give a glimmer of hope to anyone who is courageous (or foolish) enough to attempt speedrunning this game.
